At about 2 and a half minutes into this interview, they start playing a song that starts out '...the streets are all empty and the crowds have all gone home....' I looked up the lyrics and the song title is "Intro" but I CAN'T find which album this is on. Anyone know?!
@SilverOctavia no I haven't found it yet :( I tried looking up random songs of his on here, and even google images just to see if the song was listed with a still of that clip. I'll reply again if I find it :)
@Madsenband88 Lol! I found it too and I was SO excited to tell you. Lol! Anyway, the song is on the album 'Kicking Against the Pricks', which is an all cover album. It's awesome!
i have to say... if i was nick cave i would spend all my time with myself, just like... looking in the mirror and saying... i am really that good arent i?
Dark, violent, unforgiving, musky, shadowy, blood-rusty...a few words to describe the great Nick Cave. Oh, and, uh, by the way, I've only heard 1:00 of Deep in the Woods with Birthday Party...and I already know he'll be great. Sounds a bit like Tom Waits, who is in (at least) my top 25 artists of all time...yes, another musical journey for me!
He's developed alot as an artist over the years, but I can't help thinking that the sort of music he does so well isn't about being developed or crisp, it's about being raw, carnal, even violent. Somewhere inside me, it feels like a perversion that he's transformed into something so... not mundane or tame by any means, but... human. because he is so much more than that. I miss the birthday party, I miss looking at an animal on stage, prophetic, mad and violent, enticing us into madness.
@feydragrey7 I don't see how anyone can see a warped and evil (like satan) man in this video. Why does evil seem cool to you? I think he seems to be a sad individual who just prefers to be alone because he sees the world as evil. If you think evil is cool then I hope you are always surrounded by cool ppl, thus getting what you deserve
@dincz ha-ha! Only rarely...make too much a habit of it and they come for you to chop off your hands so you can no longer type. After all, it might be contagious!
oh nick, why couldnt you have come to kansas this year during your north american tour? well, it might be a good thing, i would have had a heart attack from too much excitement at your concert! that wouldnt be such a bad way to end it all.
Calm down? I wasn't making a fuss. I just disagreed, and you were asking. I Didn't even yell, the caps just emphesis my opinion at the end of the comment. Did you even read my comment?
my old man made me listen to nick ave ever since i could remember. im 19 now, but listening to loverman off let love in when i was a wee tacker definatly fucked my brain over. i still sometimes tweak out listening to it now, especially when ive helped myself to some microdots
Im going through a broken heart and all of the albums in my stereo are Bad Seeds, you're right though I want to cut my wrists when I listen to the Boatman's Call especially Lime Tree Arbour.
absolutely. I went through that too. My first introduction to Nick Cave was around the time of Tender Prey. I wasn't really in a good phase of my life and I found his music terribly depressing and even frightening. But I kept on listening and eventually I came to see the brilliance of it. It is engrossing. My favourite record is without a doubt, 'Your funeral my trial'. That is such a great collection of songs.
Yep he's the man, Grinderman is pretty great too. he just kicked heroin here on this video, his creativity picked up a lot after that. Like jan Mayen sang; "Nick cave's a real motherfucker" hehe
hmmm i dont think he'd proper kicked it cos he went into rehab around the henrys dream period and took a big break inbetween boatmans call and no more shall we part to recover from all that shit
Wikipedia: "In 2000, one of Cave's heroes, Johnny Cash, covered Cave's "The Mercy Seat" on the album American III: Solitary Man, seemingly repaying Cave for the compliment he paid by covering Cash's "The Singer" on his Kicking Against the Pricks album."
I'm such a fangirl. I spent the entire time staring between his hands and his lips (and ripped the video from YouTube presumably so I could do this again at a later date). I'm so ashamed of myself sometimes. . .
@feydragrey. i can't post the link, try search for "Nick Cave. Brad Pitt. JOHNNY SUEDE"
