He's developed alot as an artist over the years, but I can't help thinking that the sort of music he does so well isn't about being developed or crisp, it's about being raw, carnal, even violent. Somewhere inside me, it feels like a perversion that he's transformed into something so... not mundane or tame by any means, but... human. because he is so much more than that. I miss the birthday party, I miss looking at an animal on stage, prophetic, mad and violent, enticing us into madness.

absolutely. I went through that too. My first introduction to Nick Cave was around the time of Tender Prey. I wasn't really in a good phase of my life and I found his music terribly depressing and even frightening. But I kept on listening and eventually I came to see the brilliance of it. It is engrossing. My favourite record is without a doubt, 'Your funeral my trial'. That is such a great collection of songs.
