  • @jonros1988 As this is a aspirated (non turbo) engine, the power and torque curve it quite high, if i remember correctly the maximum torque it achieved at 6400rpm, he's driving like he should keeping it high up in the power band.

  • @jonros1988 My point exactly the Honda S2000 has 162 lbf·ft (220 N·m) @6,500rpm so he needs to keep it high in the RPM, the EVO on the other hand has 289 lb·ft(392 N·m) @3500 rpm, almost twice the torque @ half the RPM, so he doesn't need to push it so hard as he has all the available torque as low as 3500rpm,

  • Your s2k is dialed in nicely but I thank god you didnt cut loose in a corner with a sport bike (or any rider) in the other lane.   • @Madhands101 high HP small blocks are tough here. They cut loose easy unless you have dialed it in to a TEE with the suspension. I drove a port, polished, and bored LS1 SLP SS Camaro there with k-sport tuned suspension by a charlotte tune specialist (nascar road tracks) and couldnt keep it from cutting loose in the corners that fast. Just assuming you drive a mustang I have no idea. This guy scares the shit out of me considering I ride my sports bike there

    Its not a drag race, where you have to shift, just when you reach your redline.

    Its a track with pretty many corners... And if your gearset isnt tuned for it, you just have to hit the revlimiter sometimes pretty hard...

  • If you keep hitting your rev limiter too much you might end up messing your cylinder heads up. But thats if you abuse it. Engines for honda are cheap anyways,,,

  • @bbarannik you sir are very ignorant. rev limiter is there to PROTECT the engine from over-rev, it dosent hurt them one bit if the car is mechanicly sound. and high revs only damage an engine if the oil pump or cooling system are not up to the tack. an s2000 is built to handle 9000 rpm for extended periods, in other words the oil pump and cooling system, and the entire engine for that matter, where designed from the ground up for very high rpm reliability.

  • @rapom61393 It will protect it from redline for long periods of time because it is hard to not notice that. Theres differnet types of rev limiters. A factory one does not protect the engine from abuse like that. So infact you sir are the ignorant one. An engine cant be built to withstand redline. Thats just physics for you. You must have failed physics class, I guess.

  • @bbarannik first off, im a junior in college to be a mechanical engineer, you obviously dont know anything about metal stress strength, rod bolt stretch etc. yes, an engine can be built to withstand higher rpms, i.e. redline, or in the case of an s2000 about 9000 rpms. a shorter stroke helps alot because it reduces the mean piston acceleration, enabling the engine to spin much faster, but in an s2000 honda have implemented things such as blueprinting and block girdles to let it spin to the moon

  • I'd imagine he's staying in 2nd the whole time because that gives him the best speed for the corners, as well as good braking power when he needs it. If he put it into 3rd "JUST BECAUSE" when approaching a corner, I'd imagine he'd have less braking power and significantly increase his chances of hitting a car. So rev limiter (though a bit overused in some spots maybe) = a good/safe thing. Just about the entire dragon is a 2nd-gear road - depending on the car obviously.
