i run 11s in my ranger with a 67 289 ported 91 h.o heads and lots more videos will be up soon i am saving for new tires that will actually hook up. i was dynoed at 423 at the tires hahaha. and if u want to hook up try stiffer springs i dont squat at all when it hooks up.
@casebutler i have 11 inch wide tires and i burn through 2nd and 3rd all the way till i let up,its alot worse since all the new shit i got on the motor now.
im thinking about boosting a 302 with a 76mm single turbo and around 16 psi,
but i need four link for all that to do any good.lmao why does fun have to cost so much
hey man i dont know what ur duration is on tha cam at .050 but id get sum more lift to max flow the heads and sum more duration .... call camresearchcorp they hooked me up with a bad ass one in my 289 to the rear wheels im maken what ur maken an thats with ported stock cast iron heads and other minor mods... and its solid flat tappet so yea if u want sum more ifo on maken a shit load of tourque and horse plus streetability or just an all out race hit me up i can give u sum numbers to start with
That makes me miss my old danger ranger. Started with the SVO engine, but made the switch to the 351w about a year before I got rid of it. God I loved that truck.
wanting to swap a 460 in the ranger for a work / play truck. seen it done. how involved would you think it be beyond a 351w swap? i dont mind a challenge.
@jasonbc69 its good that you dont mind a challenge because in order to do this your gonna go through hell. however if you are successfull your gonna have the most badass truck on the planet. i can tell you how just leave me a message.
i picked up a 302 86 ford ranger for paintball gear, didnt spend a cent on it...probably the best pick up ill come across things a friggin beastt. nice shit tho man i love the 3 speed auto on mine, she gets up and goess to say the least
-if your debating weather to go 302 just givr ur shits gunna be mean ppl
NICE TRUCK ! the most feasible is a 302 or 351 w if you want a v8 . building a turbo 4 cylinder ranger as I bought a complete t bird turbocoupe wrecked with less than 40,000 miles ; a new adventure , never played with a 4 cylinder ! got the ranger stripped ! using all the wiring from the ttc , instument panel , 5 spd & all !
cleveland heads? really i dont see that workin ive tried the stud holes are to big on the heads and why would u want a bigger head and y not a smaller one more compretion ? 90% of ur power comes from cam and heads so y mess up there
Yes, Cleveland heads. True, the windsor block and cleveland just don't bolt right together, it requires a pretty good deal of fabrication. And to up your compression to around 13.5:1-14:1 you use a slightly over-bore ring. The reason behind the Cleveland heads, is that they flow so much better than the Windsors, thus, allowing the motor to breathe and frees up a lot of Horsepower. It's pretty common in Ford late model racing.
LOL...A LOT. think about fenderwell headers, custom motor and trans mounts, say goodbye to heater unit. Firewall Mods. cowl hood. Radiator core support mod. maybe manual brakes...etc
Buy a torch, and a GOOD welder. Honestly the amount of torque that 460 i will put out you will need to beef up the frame. Just drop a windsor in that baby and you'll be more than happy.
dont listen to these people bud first u need to but is a good stick or mig welder cuz u will need it , then find u a 70s model for f100 spring becuz the weight will definatley squat the front of ur truck next ur gonna need to trim the cross member and move it back or forward 3 inches to clear ur oil pan ,then motor mounts ur better off buying a stock mount and weldin it to the frame them using motor straps like i did it bolts from the motor to the mount so when it flexes it dont rip truck
apart when u floor it , ya ur heater box with need to go bye bye next ur definatley gonna want a electric fan set up and a good radiator becuz they run hott anyways transmissionn...a good c6 lol oh ya and if u want a hood dont go any lower than a 5'' cowl becuz dependin on the intake ur gonna have a scoop that sets level with the top of the cab lol if ur wandering how i knw this much in detail me and a few freinds built one from a 83 ranger and a late 80s 429 only took about 2 weeks
Nice Ranger. I always wanted a 1986 Ford Ranger with a 351w. I've been looking for some engines and Rangers. How much horsepower you pushing with that? Great truck by the way.
You'll most likely need to use tight tuck headers or have custom ones made. Ones from a 302 swap kit won't work, neither will the motor mounts. Other than that the only things you need to do is cut a small hole in the core support for the radiator, slightly hammer the firewall back for the belhousing to clear, and notch part of the heater box out if you plan on still having a heater.
My brother made it custom using a stock Ranger hood and a piece of aluminum. Send me an emial at warren262@ymail and I can give you links to places that actually make them
nothing like a $20k+ cobra getting walked by a $4000 ranger lol.

@IBNZnate the easiest way to make it get better handling is to put wider tires on it

meh, far as building a small block ford goes, an aluminum 351 windsor block with cleveland heads is the best way to go.

you could just buy a trick flow aluminum head and port it out then shave it lol
