i bought the whole package, civ 4, warlords, beyond the sword, all other expansions. but when i installed it, and clicked on the beyond the sword icon, it told me i couldnt open it with that program and sent me to windows. i used windows 7 so i dont know if anyone of you has any answers, if you have a solution, please help!

I don't know why people look at graphics instead of game play. The most important part of the game is not graphics, but the game play! Whats the point in having amazing graphics and the game play is always the same and monotonous?! Total war series are much simpler than Civ 4 imho, since the diplomacy and city improvements are so much simpler compared to Civ 4. The real time battle in total war is a bonus for me, but I got fed up of them and ended up using the simulate button in the end.

@SuperBrytt its very different to total war. if your favourite part of total war is the empire building, city management and diplomacy aspects then you'll love Civ but if you want to be able to see and control grand battles its not so appealing. the combat is automatic once you start and is purely representative.

Okay I need help. I bought this expansion a long time ago, and I tried to install it. It didn't work on my old computer. Now I have a new computer I just got a week ago, and it still didn't work. Apparently, when installing this expansion, it is supposed to automatically update my DirectX and any patchs. But instead, when i clicked install, it said " Updating DirectX... A new patch was found, attempting to patch..." and then it said: "The patch has failed! Aborting installation.". PLEASE HELP.

Just to correct you. If you think FPS is just about shooting, then you're clearly a moron. Once you get above any novice level, you will have to anticipate your opponents moves, recognize strategies and adapt on a fly. There are even the same attention to small details that min-max'ed has a huge effect on game play.

basicly all games are about being steps ahead of your opponent. FPS will require hans-eye coordination as well. In RTS it's about keeping track of stuff.

Beyond the sword mainly adds some non-military aspects to the game such as the Apostalitic Palace, an early game UN. However, there is a mod that comes with the steam version that adds a 'Future Era' (post modern), a mod that allows for space RTS combat, and my personal favourite Rhyes and Fall, which allows for you to play the history of the world, while rewriting it entirely.
