  • why do all that to the stock pipe when you can just get a aftermarket...

  • @Xxslayer410xX I'm going to take a wild guess and say that this is free if you have the tools and an aftermarket silencer/exhaust is 200+

  • are there two exhaust ports then for this bike? i though it was a single cylinder?

  • @fladam1994 the xr250r has 4 valves (2 of witch are exhaust )

, there is a outlet for each of the exhaust valves

  • Congratulations by the work and the way to show it, without secrets and of clear form. As this video is of year 2007 not if your account remains open, but Podrias to raise but videos like this. Greetings from Argentina.

  • PLEASE RESPOND!! Where did you get that tip on your exhaust? I'd like to make my XR even quietier and I'd like to have something like that!

  • Folks, I just bought an XR250 -89, approx 2 hours later the bike just cut out suddenly, instantly, no compression and wont start of course, something broke down on me? Seller sounded trustful afterwards that it cant be anything serious, more like the handle/decompressor that turns off/decompress the engine is doing something. What could have cause this sudden death? Thx for help!!!

  • @ollecarlsson my xr 250 did that to me two try puting fresh gas in it thats all i had to do to mine and it runs fine

  • it is fun to play with your tool, just don't hurt your toy. My 250 is 24 years old and runs better than most new 250s. I wouldn't dare tamper with Honda's reliability. air cooled machinery can be very unforgiving of lean mixtures and such. I am tempted to dress up the pipe, but I really don't see the point. Great moviemaking! Cheers!

  • @williamburdette true, Im thinking of tuning things up with mine, but I rather go for a 450 bike if I want more power instead of pushing this oldies?

  • @ollecarlsson Lots of people have good new bikes and then they have projects that they like to have. I want an older bike so I can learn how their engines work, etc. Plus, it gives me the chance to restore an old bike to new.

  • @NAMTRAMP

he is not taking out the air filter the air filter is lower down. he is pulling out the snorkel witch will help if you were going in deep water, and the exhuast mod will relive back pressure. and thease bikes come really plugged up . i know this from exp. i have one.

  • ya i wouldnt listen to these kids on the computer that think they know all about this stuff. all these kinds of bikes are carbureted, by drilling holes in the exhaust ur just relieving backpressure but these engines are so small it'l fine By taking out the air filter it becomes more free flowing, just like you were puttin headers or manifold on your old chev 350 just have to tune the carb to control comb. temp so you dont fry your internals. im sure you know what your doin, backyard mechanics =)

  • And you sir,are an idiot, telling him to run his motor with no air filter? very dumb, not to mention it would require re-jetting,Why dont you tell him to add some sand into his oil??

  • @adhdkid918

Your the one that dont know shit.

  • @adhdkid918 Um, I wouldn't listen to you. The bike requires the back pressure of the factory baffle, huh? So there is no gain in an aftermarket more free flowing pipe then? You clearly have not experienced the difference just removing the factory tip/baffle makes on these bikes. The author also does NOT remove the air filter as you stated. Don't put down others when it is you that is clearly uninformed. BTW writing coherent sentences helps those of us who are trying to interpret your gibberish.

  • this guys a retard all hes done is weaken a crucial part of the exhaust subjected to high heat and vibration, this mod is a stupid waste off time, honda tested hundreds of designs to the point of failure for a gd reason you nut jockey

  • the exhaust mod will lean it out and the intake mod will richen it.

  • do you have any idea how many dollars and man hours honda spent during R&D of that bike to get the tune just right??? Neither do I but it sure was a lot damn longer than it took you to undo it.

  • are all xr 250's twin cyclinder?

  • There are no twin cylinder XRs. You're probably looking at the exhaust, it just has two exhaust ports. All XRs are single cylinder

  • oh, i see what is the point in having 2 exhaust ports?

  • gas gets out faster letting more fuel/air in = more power

  • Thumbs up to you too!

  • don't you have to rejet the bike?? it will run lean if you don't. translation: your header will get hotter and so will the engine and might cause valve problems.

  • what's that for music in this vid ?? great vid!!! i'll get a XR 250 from my parents when i'm older ^^ i'm now driving a moped and that's stupid ...

  • If you don't rejet your carb, you are sure to fry your engine by taking the baffle out and opening up the air box.

  • is it much the same for xl? what are benifits?

  • it will give you more power but you need to rejet after all of that

  • I certainly wouldnt totally remove the airbox lid, your just asking for it to suck in loadsa shit. You can get a way with drilling a few holes in it though as someone said.

  • That's not true at all, it's mostly to stop water that goes just over the rim of the seat from getting into the airbox. That's all it's meant for. By removing the snorkel you open up the airbox to allow better flow. "Shit" gets stopped by the air filter. =]

  • so what you are saying is that the xr250 is made for driving in waist deep water?

  • Yes, actually it is. Trust me, it can!

  • Hi i just bought a 1995 xr250 r and it is all stock. I want to remove the baffle so do i just remove the baffle and start riding the bike and not put i t back in or do i need to drill holes like this guy and put in back in? thanks.

  • If you take out the baffle, it'll be really loud. I'd say drill the baffle like this guy, and grind welds. I've also seen people drill holes in the exhaust tip itself. Either way, jet that bike, and don't be afraid of jets, they're easy : )

  • by driling the baffle, is it still spark arrested. what does he mean by holes in end plate at 1:42

    thanks a bunch

  • I think he meant the spark arrestor plate where he drilled the holes.

  • awesome vid. gonna go try it with my xr.
