  • The victors always get to write history.

  • now this is a hero

  • What's the name of the song?

  • If they win they get to write the story

  • Americans are always the heroes in every story. You are no less than the Nazis.

They did it their way you doing it you're way.

  • Apply Transcript Audio and laugh to death.

  • What is the song/ orchestra at 0:07. I'd swear it's "bella ciao" but I've never heard such a dignified rendition, if it is.

  • There's ony mighty difference to people who want to judge guys like this today: back then, guys nuts, regardless if they were German, American, Russian or Japanese. The fuckin difference is that they had BIG HAIRY NUTS. So please any COD wannabe keyboard fighters PLEASE SHUT UP.

  • i like russins killing nazis

  • @MrThug1115 dumb kid, you couldn't even tell one from the other

  • Comment removed

  • "bring that boy up here"? He adressed a GENERAL like that? ...what a redneck!

  • "being in the war was the best ting that happened to me"

That's easy for you to say, with the way it went for you. How about the ones who were killed or came back deformed and missing their limbs?

  • The Germans were very fortunate the Western Allies advanced to the Elbe. Millions of soldiers and civilians escaped the wrath of the Red Army this way.

  • @squamish4244

agreed. At least Eisenhower and Churchill both still have mercy, Stalin's forces were in rage..

  • Maggie77...you are an absolute,utter fucking moron.

  • and R.I.P, you fought for your nation <3, all one can do in such a scenario, its not the peoples fault the war broke out.

  • The ignorance in these comments, sigh. people. PLEASE think for yourself and get educated before you comment on vids like this.

  • These are the greatest heroes of the 20th Century. They saved the world.

  • it is...our hero...

  • The Greatest Generation! Thanks for posting.

  • true hero

  • it really kills me inside to know that soon there will be no more verterans no more mnoble men and women to tell of the greatest war that took place in humanitys history

  • Claro, nazista.

  • Thank you Sir for your American Iron Will, unknown to the Obama administration. The only word those douchebags know is words like welfare, redistribution, socialism, communism. So sad that guys like this died to keep people like us '''''UM, Free"""> I so appreciate these guys, and I'm sure they couldn't imagine that america would elect an absolute moron for "president"

  • Who is the woman at 1:55? Beautiful.

  • @crookedfinger13 SHE IS NOW 87, DO YA WANT HER FOR SEX ????

  • I have the up most respect for people like this man. My Grandpa wasn't in world war 2 but did his tour of duty in Malaysia in the British army as a medic/nurse and he is one of the greatest people I know.

I dont want to be pessimistic, but the latest generation (im in it) are a bunch of useless disrespectful pack of arseholes. Not all of them ofcourse :)

  • @dumbtardface. ignorant? i think not, think about it back then you didnt have a choice so therefore soldiors did not sign up for it they were in fact darfted not all of them but most of them.

  • Thanks for the victory from Russia.

  • Salut from russia to you sir!

  • i'd say it was a german general, not a nazi general. people always forget that "nazi" stands for "Nationalsozialismus" (national socialism) which is a political direction, not a nationality.

  • @redzhunter, Murderers? how dare you call the men that fought against a fascist regime murderers! these men (both sides) fought for what they believed was right fought so their children and future generations, even the men that were drafted fought so they could go home to their wives and kids at the end of the war.

without these brave courageous men most of us wouldn't be here today! these men had morale, pride, respect, bravery.

no life that is lost fighting for a just cause is wasted!

  • @Zoltron1942

i respect soldiers, but you really sound ignorant....killing somebody is murder, soldiers sign up for this, they know what they're getting into.

sugar coating this is a joke

  • @NighttalkerHH All sides murdered so dont claim moral highground for any of them. They were all dogs

  • thank god for guys like Bennet who went even as he was under age to fight the nazis

  • "being in the war was the best thing that happened to me"

yea thats true, specially if you are on the winning side

  • @Nostro200 well said

  • @Nostro200 ask any german soldier alive today if they regret fighting in the war ill bet the only thing they might regret is what they were fighting for

  • @NotAG4yName

any? that includes from the estern front?

  • @NotAG4yName They were fighting for a bigger, better reason than this?! HUH?!??!?

  • @Nostro200 and fought for a fair reason

  • @MartinLuciferKing What do you mean, disgusting society? Do you want to go back too the older days? What time period? Ill get to your remarks about the "swarms" later.

  • @MartinLuciferKing are you fucking kidding me? Marxism was around BEFORE the Nazis. Lady Gaga is a singer (if that)! and jewish control? what the..explain yourself.

  • respect, to bad he was in the enemy army.. :)

  • @Beebke I'm assuming you're German?

  • @link0zeldarulz89 1/2 part of me is German (my mam), i live in the Netherlands a few km from the German border. :)

  • @MartinLuciferKing Haha right sure buddy. Nice touch with the sarcasm though XD

  • @MartinLuciferKing Oh come on. Don't start with that BS you Nazi-sympathizer.

  • The greatest generation hands down.

  • @UndercoverCracker Do you know why they're the greatest generation? It's because they were all born before this Marxist liberal society took its stranglehold on the US and decayed morals, pride and freedom. Every generation of American was great prior to that time. Now with our controlled media and gov't, it's become a shittier place to be. People are brainwashed from childhood to accept certain liberal beliefs even if they don't realize. The real Americans can see this and demand a change.

  • @GetOutMyBidness Oh I see. Liberals disgust me.

  • russian soldiers at WW II are animals and this man wasn´t an hero.

  • ימח שמו של היטלר הבן זונה!!!

  • If he was born in 27' it means he was only 13-17 at WWII, isn't that a little too young?

  • @nycboy31 People lied about there age just to get in the war.

  • How can anyone not like this video?

  • Everyone be thankful we won.

  • @Yukikittie

Hitler thought they were inferior, but still, even black POW's were treated just as well as any other POW from the Western Front, I doubt he would be targeting other ethnic groups, Hitler had his own reason for targeting the jews.

  • Sir, my deeply respect for you for interviewing these last great persons of a great generation. Thank you for doing this.

    Thank you.

    Nick ( Belgium)

  • @nickdracu

What is great with that generation? That they killed Germans? That is nothing great.......

  • @hollebKN

It's has nothing to with killing nor has it to do on which side they were on. it's the fact that there generation ,off all country's that has witnessed this war, learned us so mutch. There's a reason that every people on this planet, even though they don't know a lot of this war, say's : never again.

And there for i thank this sir for doing this and to let us see the coman man and women who had to go through it.

  • It was the SS who did the worse of war crimes, the Wehrmacht was nothing more but a normal military like todays Bundswehr, plus a German General is not a "Nazi", he is a military leader, not a Nazi leader.

  • @jimmyxx3 this is true and a fact lost on so many WWII amateur observers...

  • The Americans, russians and the germans behaved like animals in WW2, but America would never throw an atomic bomb at us, mainly because they would never dare to betray their own race in such an unhuman way. What i think is funny is that after the world war germany was destroyed, but compare germany and america now 65 years later, who's more advanced? Education, human rights, infrastructure, health care, and so much more :D Im glad that the war happend or else we would still be killing jews ^^

  • @epicfaildrunkgirl

    "Still be killing jews"?

Yes, Hitler would definantly still be in power while being more than 100 years old -_-

It is German technology that helped you Americans so much after the war, German technology from during and after the war continues to help us even today.

  • dang my b-days november the 6

  • what does he say 0.38? I had what?

  • Never shall we forget the peace the have provided for us here today! So let's all salute the veteran's and bow. People tend to forget about all this!

Salute to all! and let's keep spreading the word!

  • 0.54 Yanks with the communist flag below them.... what a disgracefull part of american/ English History... working with stalin who was killing millions before the war, during the war and another 20 million after the war...

  • @TheBavarianAryan Further more disgraceful are people like you!

  • Comment removed

  • @magje77 OK then you idiot i am more disgracefull than stalin and i am more disgracefull than a goverment who worked with someone who killed more than 40 million people... ok whatever... you really are a comedian.

  • @TheBavarianAryan Yes indeed and you are really a heck of a bad reader, Did I assumed that Stalin is not a criminal? Did i assumed that the world is @ peace? No I did not! I only left a word of a tribute to the Veterans, How many time's do I have to repeat this? Once?twice? dear god, If you know it best then, Maybe you should stand the post! Leaving the world with your anti-communist bullshit. So why would call me a moron, on the first place! If u had chosen to react normal, I would reply normal

  • @magje77 maybe because i lost allot of family who where fighting the communists and who had to suffer the reign of communism for 70 years and people like you salute the veterans who helped the communists and throw europe into red terror and call the people who where fighting the reds (like my opa) you call nazi pigs who dont deserve a salute. Germans wheere brave young soldiers who fought till the VERY end, if that does not deserve a salut then nothing does.

  • @magje77 The biggest genocides were performed by the allies, i hope you realise this. and i hope you realise we have yet to find a single jewish corpse from the holocaust, and that its a fact that germany were the only nation to propose peace. infact they did it MANY Times. to quote churchill meeting Roosevelt in Quebec. "Heavens sake no, they would accept immidiately" This was his answer to a reporters "will you propose peace with germany" Germany did not want the war, international bankers did

  • "Whoaa.....Bring that boy up here" .................he was only a General. LOL RIP Lew. We in England are very grateful you came 'ol mate.

  • @BlackCountryPuddler yeah... im british/german and have lived in Bradford, Biormingham, london, Derby and i am personally not so greatful.

  • WAR SUCKS, but if my nation would get attacked, i would fight for my country

  • Was he a nazi?

  • he only defended his nation, I would do the same

  • Thats actualy a german offiicer.

  • SO FRAKING GOOD SOLDIER!!!!!! to bad about his death tho' may him RIP.

  • RIP soldier

  • I dont get it...this is a war hero, and his country couldnt pay for new teeth and a confortable couch for him...¿? hum....well done soldier, RIP!

  • This guy is cool and honest. He wanted 'em damned pistols.

  • Part of the history! This brave man was really a part of humanity history and the fact he is no long among us it's very sad. Glory to the heroes!

  • i salute you sir !

  • Germany had the greatest army !

  • @xganger2 fuck germany

  • @wixnarara I am from sweden but my ancestors fighted against your soldiers and showed you whos king ;D You are good at bombing our cities and killing our civilians but your soldiers haha

  • Need More men Like Mr Bennett

  • again lots of brain washed man wrote comments! PLS STOP JEW HISTORY AND BRAIN WASHING!NAZIS NOT EVILS THAT JEW HISTORY!

  • @szolnok95 kill yourself you scum, you should be hunted down and killed, nazis are the scum of the earth and you are as well

go kill yourself, I would love to kill someone like you

god to kill someone like you would be a great feeling

  • @MyPasswordIsUserName Look at your comment. tell me, why do u ignore historical facts, science, and philosophy to further promote what u have been taught to believe? not only is your comment about killing people, u cherish killing. You are worse than the nazis were ever made out to be yourself apparently :)? Nazis were not evil, theres no "good" in a war. but if someone truly was evil in the war, look to; Britain? Russia?

  • ES LA ÚNICA VÍA POSIBLE PARA QUE UN PAÍS SE SUPERE, SIN IDEAS DE AGREDIR A SU VECINO, SEPARANDO EL ESTILO PURO ALEMÁN DE LOS AÑOS 30 QUE POR CIRCUNSTANCIAS ESPECIALES, CON UNA FUERTE UNIÓN SOVIÉTICA QUE PREGONABA EL COMUNISMO Y LO DESEABA EXPANDIR, (REVOLUCIÓN ESPAÑOLA) EL CUAL ES LA OTRA CARA DE LA MONEDA.

  • The Stalinist Communists were far worse than Germans. We know this because Albert Goering was our family friend and also because my mother was born in Germany. The Soviets lied, murdered by the score. General Vlassov went against Stalin after the war, btw.

  • Lovely story from a lovely man God bless .

  • My best friend's grand father (one of the coolest guys I knew) was a WWII vet, sadly he passed away a few months ago. He was badass. He fought on the elucian (SP) islands, and had so much hate for the japs he wouldn't eat rice after he got home. No one could make him eat rice, and it stayed that way till the dau he died. He was a cool guy. :)

  • Great story.

  • Surrendering? Capturing? Bah, it's a matter of semantics and parsing words. Splitting hairs. The German General allowed himself to be captured, mainly to avoid capture by the Russians. The luckiest German troops in WW2 were the ones who were wounded early in the war and sent to POW camps in the USA. They were well treated, well fed and housed. For them the war ended early.

  • i praise that man god damn nazi! expechaly HITLER

  • hm? They playing the Partisan theme? how come?

  • ok. you can leave. BUT!, you had better come back..... with guns..... good stuff sir. r.i.p.

  • when enemies had respect of eachother?!

the nazis made themselves enemies with the jews, not the other way.

and did u seriously think the nazis had any respect? they treated them like nothing.

    damn nazis.

im so glad i wasnt born at that aweful time.

    and RIP lewis bennett

  • @TigerDRena

    shut the fuck up

  • @HandzarMitralijezac

i wont shut the fuk up u freaking nazi.

go and hang urself. we're in a world with freedom of expression. and u got no freakin right to tell me to stfu u bastard.

oh and btw freedom of expression doesnt mean to be allowed to discriminate other races, as u do.

  • @TigerDRena

judge not lest ye be judged

  • "those days wen enemies had respect for one another."... dragon gold u live in a dream.

  • Those were the days when enemies had respect for one another.

  • @dragongolds

What on Earth are you talking about? This war was a war like any other, both sides massacre the enemy (often those who are not the enemy). One old man reminising doesn't change anything! So naive.

  • R.I.P.

  • november 7 is my b-day

  • We lost a good man November 7. May he never be forgotten.

  • Lewis Bennett... the man in this video.

  • @dbocaz a nazi general..

  • @jeezwtfdudeomg he captured :D

  • @dbocaz and 7 people dislike ur video...... screw them!

  • this man died 5 days after my birthday!

    R.I.P

  • RIP... good story...

  • didn´t he say that the General surrendert to him?

    so he don´t captured him^^

  • They did capture him in the end.

  • @dbocaz thats not capturing

  • @T3nnoX

Well when he takes him in, or subdues him, he has technically captured him it doesn't matter if he surrendered or not. Only fools use stupid technical terms.

  • @T3nnoX

And there are two different terms for technical, by what I said to you I mean that you use meanings to win in a conversation, even if you know what the man means.

  • @NobuyukiHiyama Maybee your right but i am from Germany and my Motherlanguage is German so it´s not my fault if i not understand exactly what he´s saying :)

He sayed that the General SURRENDERT to him and he sayed to his Officers or what ever that he CAPTURED him. So for me it is not the same! He even wan´t the German to bring some Lugers across the river for letting him bring his Field Wife to the other side. So for me hé´s just a normal Soldier, not a Hero or something.

  • cool story lol

  • 88 means nazi sympathizer

  • 88 means heil hitler

  • i know i have been listening to them blaim everyone else for there downfall but them selfs since....damn yahoo chat.

  • This is the best thing I have ever seen someone do with youtube.

  • Wow! Great compliment. You just made my day.

  • Its just one day no one will be around to tell these stories and what will we learn. By doing this we learn 1000 lifetimes and expirences.

  • Yes, history gets distorted when it is passed down, but these videos help capture the real experience... at least that's what I hope.

  • OMG, i have a jacket of someone who was in the 2nd armored with the 84th.

  • Do you have a picture?

  • ill take it, all i know his name was Muke Buzo, i have a helmet that s his friends, his name was Herman Bowing. ill take a picture. when i get the chance

  • I'll mention the name to Mr. Bennett. You never know. He might know him and I know Mr. B would love to see the picture. Thanks!

  • soory i spelled MIke wrong =P

  • Muke is kind of cool name though :) Sounds like a soldier. Mike Buzo... got it. I'll ask him.

  • he was in singal company i think, i dont remember and 41th infantry regement. i had to bury threw his idems. he drove a m3 grayhound. and there was a picture of him holding a german flag in the rhine river. cool stuff, he died 3 years ago. he never talked about the war. it was probably he tolk part of a lerberation of a POW camp after they tolk the Outher river, i think it was called.

  • Mr. Bennett was at the Rhine River too... 41st Infantry helps. I'll see what Mr. Bennett remembers.

  • sorry it was 11th armored, but he was still in the 41st,i dont know how i got 2nd lol.

  • No problem. Mr. Bennett will enjoying looking through his annuals for him.

  • Do you know Mike Buzo's company and regiment?

  • he was in signal company, i dont know the rgiment.

  • My God these men will always have my outmost respect. I truly hate living in Florida and its heat, as I'm a northern Italian and I prefer cold weather myself, but one of the major perks of ending up down here, is with my job I get to meet a lot of WWII vets and talk to them, and they truly are amazing people, and I am extremely blessed to get to hear their stories! I'm really not sure why I am so deeply into WWII, but I'm very proud of coming from a family who were against Hitler and Mussolini.

  • You sound like you have some amazing stories to share too! Have you recorded any of them? Or recorded any of the veterans you have met?

  • No, but I was thinking of starting to do that, as I was typing my reply to your video! I guess one reason why I haven't done it, is because I've been told that a lot of them don't like to talk about their time during WWII, and I surely don't want to make them feel uncomfortable, or even depress them....

Also to keep in mind, my rockstar appearance (long reddish hair, sunglasses....) probably at first turns them off to me, as (understandably so) people from that era aren't used to that.

    :-)

  • It's true. A lot of them have a hard time talking about it, but the veterans who do find it really healing. It's good for them to process their experiences and we found that these videos have really helped them to find meaning with it all. They love that people want to hear their stories.

  • It is great, as they deserve all the credit they can get from anyone really, for fighting the war the way they did, for the training they went through, for the fact that they saved the whole world, as if it weren't for them, we'd all speak German by now.

  • I really respect these men. They are history in itself. Who would've known that their actions would define history.

  • They are amazing men to talk to. It was an honor to interview them.

  • I have some similar memories. The jump on Normandy, Market-Garden and more. Sometimes when I watch these, I cry, it brings back memories for friends who did not make it home. It was so long ago, but each face is etched into memory for the rest of my life.
