all i know is that my dad loved it and had me play it days before he died and he sang along - i never knew he could sing - a passable scottish tenor. i miss you, daddy, and i hope you meet whoever this song was for. you go, old dude! get you some!
Glenn Miller's music is just so classy! What style! What grace! Try to imagine what he would have done if he hadn't died so early. He was only 40 years old.
My father was a big Tommy Dorsey fan & of course Frank Sinatra.... I swear I think my father owned just about every Tommy Dorsey & Frank Sinatra record ever recorded....
Mr.Nelson had a more pleasing voice than Ray Eberle. He also played sax in the band. His singing on (Pink Roses For A Blue Lady), is dramatically sad. It's about a girl in Vienna, during the war. Too bad he was so underated. Moonlight Mood, is a great song too.
I'm the grandson of Sipione Marabella, Know to the world as Skip Nelson. He changed it to avoid discrimination. My name is Peter Nelson. Message me for any questions you might have, plus were definitly related. Peace
I know that Skip didn't stay with the Miller orchestra long, as they broke up after Glenn entered the service in September 1942...you have a good heritage if you had Skip as your great-grandfather, 'robert'!

Great video, thx for posting it... It's my favourite version of this song, of all times! Coincidentally, I also have this acetate (from my mother) :)
BTW, of what time is the set (where the recording is played), exactly?
Really enjoyed everything of the vid.

My husband and I walked out of our wedding at the end to this version of this song. Always brings back sweet memories.

This was one of Skip Nelson's first recorded vocals with the Miller band after Ray Eberle left in June 1942...
