  • So true, great vid :')

  • there were cheat codes in gameboy too?

  • this should be a song that every gamer should hold as high as his/hers national anthem,

No modern game can give the same feeling as the old ones did

  • @mos5678 A National Anthem??! Wow I'm very honored by your statement. Thanks for the comment and salutations to retro gamers everywhere!!:)

  • @jackbliss i should be the one to thank, all the memories the song brought back, of all the fun.

  • If you say Games nowadays are not good and not even on-par with old games, you are lieing to yourself.

  • Many of those games are classics,I think that new games are good, but we can't just let past those classics, that video made me remember the fun I got with the NES Snes and Gameboy. You made me get my old Gameboy to school. Many look at me like if I was a retarded, but some other were more...curious,those pixeled games are still loved by some, they are not extinct and they will never be!

  • I had to cry during the video. All the memories from my childhood were returning right to me. For some reasons, I don't really like modern games except for some exceptions. When I used NES emulator in our PC class, everyone was looking on me like idiot and thinking that I don't know what the good games are. I ignored them. I was happy that I could replay all those classic games.

  • good video

  • Cool.

  • Why would you choose an original Gameboy over an Advance? The Advance can play original GBA games and has a backlight...

  • @Klagmar I think you kinda missed the point of the whole song.

  • You can't sing.

  • you guys have obviously never heard of cave story.

  • The best games are from the NES era. NES games will never die!

  • You said it bro :D

  • @eojgib321 die nes games die now and for all DIE

  • Ahh nostalgie ;) I really like the video!

What's the game called with the motorbikes by the way? ( 4th )

    Thank you for sharing! ^^

  • Thanks! The 4th game with the motorbikes is called "Excite Bike" for the Nes. Really good game and no problem. Be sure to subscribe for more nostalgia. Nice username by the way :)

  • What most people don't get now a days that if it wasn't for pixels none of the new stuff would have ever existed! Classic games are better! Now a days you see reviews saying that they are making a game with a traditional or classical style of game play. That proves that even the people that make our games realize that the better stuff was in the past. I'm always into the new stuff but I always remember to appreciate and respect the old legendary games that got us all hoked on gaming!

  • Wonderful comment and nice to see another person who truly appreciates and respects older games! Yur right without them the newer ones would not exist! :)

  • mario, kirby and sonic wont be forgoten :P

  • I realized it's not just about old games. It's about how good things used to be is what makes this so great.

  • this is so true. i like old games better because of the challenge. there were secret levels and hard bosses and stuff. now there are hidden cheats for everything that can be found online one click away, and ususally you dont even need the cheat because the games are so easy. long live old games even though they wont last very long thanks to modern day people =[

  • Yeah. I remember how challenging and interesting it was to play older games with friends from the neighborhood gathering at one place at a time.. We used to swap joysticks, exchange ideas how to beat some stage, discuss strategies. It somehow brought us all together and when we eventually beat the game we celebrated and rubbed it in the faces of the other rival gamers who were also friends ofcourse lol....soooooo many memories.... :-)

  • the music of sims2 is actually stuck in my head all the time XD

  • It is wonderful! Full of Emotion and the way you've done it is great!! Your video is like one of these numerous old games taking your childish heart away deep inside into the technique and the story of the game. Pixelated dreams. This is the moment where Technology and Emotions are joining up. Thank you.

  • Thanks for the awesome comment. It is full of emotion as you said. Some happiness to remember the old games, but sadness to know these games will indeed stay in the past and newer ones like them will never be made.

  • But Hey!! This is the entity of Nostalgia :D

  • heavy stuff man, heavy stuff...

  • Thank you, jackbliss, for this magnificent video!

  • Magnificent?! Wow... gosh.. thanks a lot man! Glad you liked it :-)

  • I listen to this song whenever I get the chance!

  • Aw thanks! That is so sweet of you. You must love older games even more than I do :-)

  • I just realized that you made "When Mario met Miyamoto" on newgrounds. I love that, it's so funny. I'd comment on there, but I have no Ng account.

  • lol dzdos. I guess those classics are just too complex for you, heh? Anyway, this song makes me sad because I think of how our good old games are neglected just because their graphics are old fashioned.

  • but im right if you play games like fallout 3 or left 4 dead you will have a greater chance of survival in a worldwide diaster than someone who doesn't

  • well, I don't really like first person shooters. I biught Halo3 because of peer pressure, and liked with xbox live. I still wouldn't buy anymore. I like the challenge and origionality of classics.

  • ppl will hate me 4 life 4 saying this, but 20 year old outdated games are already dead to the games industry, barley anyone sells them, and not a lot of ppl play them anyway so i would just play the modern games, because 1980 games are rare, and even more diffcult for people to play them because its so hard to get the consoles to play them, so u should just play modern games anyway

  • One day virtual reality will take over and we'll be arguing about how we used to use controllers, and weather it was better or not... and I'll say "I like the 1980-1990 games best" and nobody will have any idea what I'm talking about. And the games you're defending now, you'll be insulting in the future. And there's a way to play almost any classic game on with emulation, so more people can play. I'm done with this argument. Sorry for turning this guy's video commentary into a battle zone.

  • i wont be insulting them, ill defend them over virtual reality. ppl have a knack to like thing they know for a long time, like outdated games, so i guess ill like current games over virtual reality

  • Hi Dzdosv42. Remember this quote and think long and hard about it.before you boast about new games over old ones. "We are like dwarfs sitting on the shoulders of giants. We see more, and things that are more distant, than they did, not because our sight is superior or because we are taller than they, but because they raise us up, and by their great stature add to ours." by Sir Issac Newton

And thanks johnnyshroom221 for sharing some valuable thoughts :-)

  • and also if u think outdated games r so good why is action 52 so bad? i think thats an old game that pretty much describes all old games, bad, bad, and bad >:(

  • Actually, virtual reality is already starting. Type in "Xbox 360 Milo" on youtube. I'll bet if you get something like that, you'll forget all about Halo and Left4Dead in a flash. Btw nice quote jackbliss.

  • How old are you, kid?

  • why, are you a stalker?

  • You know, the Nintendo DS has kept the golden age alive and well. Just think about New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, and Kirby Super Star Ultra. They have better graphics, but Mario Kart DS has all the old levels with a touch of new levels. The same goes for New Super Mario Bros. and Kirby Super Star Ultra. Those are the only three new video games that will live on forever in our hearts. People will probably forget about the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo. Sorry, dude. =(

  • Yeah. Nintendo always has and always WILL rock!!! :-D

  • wanna know something that made me sad...i saw a poll that said what do you think is the most important part of a game? the answers were graphics, storyline, gameplay (which by that they mean it plays without lagging),characters, secrets, or other.

I put down other because they didn't have an answer that said if the games fun.

And you know what, most of the answers were for graphics and i was the only only one who put other! What has the world come when stuffs these days are made for profit only?

  • Yes the results of that poll upsets gamers like me too. Thanks for the good comment! :-)

  • Well, games may have lost their charm, BUT! Imagine a game, alot like the old ones, in the sense that they focused on the damn game instead of the graphics... Everyone thinks graphics are important, they're right, but only to an extent. As long as the game plays well, in my opinion, it's gold. Pure brilliance.

  • Thanks for the great comment man! You have summed up exactly what the entire song and video is all about! :-)

  • Congrats... you have made the first non-sarcastic tear in 10 years pass my eyes. You are so right. Games have lost their luster. Our pixelated pals are now modeled morons... If only someone had the decency to forego the allure of Graphics and Sound quality to focus entirely on the actual game part of the fucking game, then maybe the GameCube won't have been the death of gaming.

  • Thank you! This has to be the BEST comment posted for this video so far. You have understood it well, Graphics and sound are only part of the game and not the game itself. Recently I urged one of my younger relatives to play Super Mario Bros.3 on the NES and he said the graphics were too poor. It's really sad. I consider myself lucky to have lived through the Golden Age of video games that is the late 80's and early 90's. It's all went downhill from there except Nintendo thankfully.

  • if i only lived thru the golden age

i dont care wat an1 says everygame with mario(except the smash series) since the gamecube has suked

galaxy had the worst ending an sunshine was horrible all around

  • Quite frankly, I enjoyed sunshine, not as a Mario game, but as a new concept.

  • that i can agree with

to me that was my first full dive into a mario game but it was overall disappointing

    with how the story unfolded

but i do admit the backpack and enemies were a new scheme i enjoyed even though i dont think it was in nintendos best intrest

what do you think about galaxy

it had me going until the end

  • I didn't play Galaxy much.

  • I wasn't there when the nes or the snes came or anything.

But still you make it looks like they were better.

I am not saying that they were bad because they aren't.

I play them on PC so they aren't gone.

  • Nice little song Chris, shame the full documentary fell through. Keep up the good work, I want to see more videos from you in 2008!

  • Hey don't worry about that. I hope to make more videos in 2008 :-)

  • Nicely done.

Many games lack originality. Very true.

  • Yarrr,Chris another great movie!

  • Wow so cool!

    Great job! ;D
