The 49ers should have taken Rodgers. Alex Smith has been a disaster. Does anyone Remember Jamarcus Russell? No 1 draft pick in 2007 biggest bust of all time.
ha... well i think we all know how that worked out... campbell is a bum. aaron rodgers is the best young QB in the game. and yeah he learned from the best in Farve.
@tonydanza4lyfe stfu ur an idiot. Alex smith could sit behind manning, marino, and brady for years and he still wouldn't be an elite qb. Your such an dumb ass have you even seen smith play?
@chazsinohui First off, it would be "You're" not your. Secondly, you only use "an" if there is a vowel starting off the next word. So, am I really the dumbass here? Get a brain, you fucking imbecilic retard.
I hope people realize, that Aaron Rodgers wasn't this good back in 05. In those 3 years behind Favre, they COMPLETELY retooled his throwing motion. So don't act like Rodgers was some steal. There is a reason why he is as good as he is now. Thank the packers coaching staff. Imagine if Alex Smith had the opportunity to sit behind Favre...yeah so shut up you idiot packers fans.
It still kills me that as a 49ers fan, SF passed on Rodgers. Not to mention he's a Northern California kid as well as having went to college and played with Cal. Not to mention he grew up on the 49ers and being a fan of Montana and Young.
Well, what's done is done and the Packers have an outstanding QB.
Then again, if he DID go to SF, he's run into the slew of crazy coaching and offensive coordinator problems that Alex Smith dealt with in SF until Harbaugh came in.
ElCuloChulo, it was Favre's painful departure that allowed AR to gain the respect of GB fans. In the eyes of Packer fans, Favre had betrayed them, and AR gained their respect by showing them Favre's numerous faults, on and off the field. Don't assume the NFL is so fair weather, because Lambeau field has been sold out every game for 50 years, regardless of the Packers' record.
@garethkielty the next team in line gets to choose, but i believe the team that allowed the clock to run out can step back in at any time. Thats if i remember correctly anyways, i remember Eisen and company talking about it last draft.
Much respect for Rodgers he prove everybody wrong including the stupid experts. As a niners fan I wanted him over Alex smith but it turn out differently. I'm not a smith hater either I'm not like that, I support my team no matter what, good or bad. Boy was it a long wait. This year things are sunny in SF and Alex is playing great. So in a way it turn out good for both teams which is very strange btw. Just imagine GB vs SF NFC champion late in the playoffs, wow.
They got pretty much everything right. Aaron Rodgers had a long disappointing draft but he his now one of the top (if not the best) quarterback today. And they predicted Green Bay getting him...weird...
@murk345 Are you high? gay? or god forbid a Bears fan? you must be one of the three. Or you could be a fat slob hating on A-Rod because he's somewhere you could never make it.
@zzap999 - Well here's the thing. If the niners drafted Rodgers I'm not sure if we would've got Jim Harbaugh as our coach now. We probably have gone to the playoffs a bunch of times but never win the SB. McCarthey would have gone to GB anyway after that 05 year and Rodgers would have other cordinators to work with. Without Alex Smith sucking for all those years we would'nt have drafted all our players we have now who some were 1st rounders in the drafts. So thanks Alex Smith.
@calia337 Jim Harbaugh doesn't play anymore. The niners defense has always played effectively during the last Alex years. And yes we wouldn't need Harbaugh if Rodgers was the niner QB. That was Mike Nolans ego issue with Rodgers, that he would overshadow the head coach. Peyton Manning has the same effect and I don't hear Colts fans complaining.
@zzap999 Yes, I'm talking about Harbaugh as a coach not player but the point is I rather we have him as our coach now because he's so much better than Nolan and Singletary. So I'm glad things are the way they are.
@calia337 Did you see the Monday night game(Pac/Vikings)? Have you seen Rodgers passes? Lightning passes to fade routes that are hard to defend even though a defensive back is right in front of it? He can do this to every team he faces. Alex is no where near that. Alex is just a managed QB. Enjoy the regular season because the road to the Big Game goes through Green Bay.
Wish the Niner woulda got him, he prayed about going to his hometown, he wanted to go to SF so bad. Smith had higher expectations though so can't blame us. Smith is stepping it up.

@KingKoopaHD What your neglecting is that Ted Thompson is a genius..name me a bad draft pick he made, in fact name me a high draft pick that isnt starting for this team right now
I can only think of the 49' ers and the Redskins who had two consecutive starting QB's who went on to win the superbowl ..Montana /Young and Williams/Rypien (which was rather odd with schroeder in the mix somewhere)
LOL. I'm from Wisco and was surrounded by a lot of people on that day (at a wedding) and he was picked... the majority of the crowd didn't like it but there were a few of us who were very exited. Not EVERY packer fan hated it.
look at packer fans acting like they were on board with the Aaron Rodgers pick from the begining. I bet you guys were booing when the packers picked him! Vikings fan here.
@SincerelyJnC why would we disliked the pick? our last first round QB pick was Babe Parilli back in 1952, and Favre's hair are turning gray. I know some Favre fans might not liked the pick but most packers fans were happy that day.
@SincerelyJnC well you gotta know that the bears fans are getting it worse than you guys lol if they wouldve beat us we wouldnt have made it there. They put us in the bowl
@SincerelyJnC I remember when I was a little younger I played Madden and Rodgers was a rookie and I thought "Wow.. He wont' last long.. We have Favre." It took about 3 years for him to get some actual playing time and he was great. Then he took over once Favre left and he turned into the best QB in the league today in my opinion.
I dont think it woulda mattered even if they did pick A-ROD i live in Wisconsin and it was a team effort that one the super bowl, even Rodgers says it himself. But dont get me wrong we couldnt have won this year without him. NFLPA needs to hurry up and VOTE I NEED MY FOOTBALL DAMMIT!!!

@QBDogKiller The first round QB draft pick is such an in-exact science....lol....Ryan Leaf is the best example of that.
Still, as a packer fan, Im greatful Aaron fell so far, haha
skedardestroyer 1 week ago
@skedardestroyer
Some teams just draft really well.
The Packers have been insane at drafting the last few years.
Nick Collins, BJ Raji, Aaron Rodgers, Desmond Bishop, Tramon Williams, Jermicheal Finley, Jordy Nelson, Gregg Jennings, Matt Flynn, Josh Sitton, etc.
The Steelers are the only other team that has had similar success drafting.
It is an in-exact science but some teams really do their homework and hit on most picks.

@tazer74 yeah i gotta admit it. I was booing when the packs won the superbowl. Cause i knew we viking fans would never hear the end of it.

Gomer2012 7 months ago 38
@Gomer2012 yeah right lol Tom Brady is def the best draft pick ever. Aaron Rodgers is a damn good QB and prolly one of the better later picks though!
TheJlkavanagh 3 months ago
@TheJlkavanagh Yeah, a 6th round pick taking them to 4 SBs.
zDallasCowboys008z 3 months ago
@Gomer2012 close, but i still think tom brady at 199 was the greatest gift ever.
