  • too bad that the pics were not of johnny and june; as much as I did like the movie performance of joaquin and reese they don 't belong here

  • Yes, this is a tale of creat whoa.

  • classic

  • this song is a classic ,it should get more air time.and anybody who does not like it should just listen to grasshoppers screw ,dumbasses

  • 25 fags are loose on you tube

  • ça c'était de la vraie contry et pour les puristes Jhonny etait très bon en Godspel.

  • This is two versions of the same song, edited back to back.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the starting version with June singing?

The clean acoustic instrumentation in June's section is much better than the iconic, over orchestrated, version that Johnny made famous. (Who decided that the trumpet was a county instrument?)

I love that first bit, thanks for posting it.

  • June did write this song, but it was Johnny that made it a big hit. I love this song as well as the song Johnny and June. I love all of Johnnys songs that he sang. He was a great country singer and gospel also. I love ring of fire and man in black and folsom prison.May Johnny and June rest in peace

  • June did write this song, but it was Johnny that made it a big hit. I love this song as well as the song Johnny and June.

  • yeah, real love does feel like fire. Especially when you fight against it. as far as these pics not being of June and Johnny thats ok, the song is all that matters

  • it is great to hear june's voice on june's song

  • Ring of Fire was co-written by June Carter and Wyatt Merle Kilgore. It was first recorded by Anita Carter, Junes sister. It was recorded 3/25/63, and became the biggest hit of Johnny Cash's career, staying at number one on the charts for seven weeks.

  • joaqamole

  • Johnny and June Carter define America!

  • When i die im goin' to have this song play at my funeral, because let's face it i sure as hell am not goin' to heaven

  • i luv this! was she older wen she sang this it sounds like it?? good song either way

  • this song is from Ring of Fire: the best of June Carter Cash CD...

  • Also, how can I download this into an audio?

  • Just wondering, how did you find June singing this?

  • I have seen another video , June was singing it without Jhonny, there was a violin and a guitar and of course this strange instrument that June plays, I don' t know how it is called. Does any body have this video or knows how and where can I find that version?

    Thank you

  • @AlexandrasAve: Is the version you saw different from the first part of this video? If not, this version is from an June Carter album called "Press On". And yes, that's June singing, not a fake!

  • Anita Carter's version is the best.

  • June wrote it, right?

  • @AlexisGuitar94 Yes June wrote this great song, peace Des

  • It's a burning song!

  • los amo!! john & june, y la pelicula de joaquin & resse esta genial.

  • well i think u did really good on this video. the people that dont like it, dont have to listen to it.

  • June sounds like a little girl, but she was all woman.

  • Love this song!!

  • thank you

  • Are you even kidding? Reese and Joaquin rocked the parts of Johnny and June and deserve the utmost praise and recognition. Cashqueen gives them 100% ringing endorsement.

  • too wonderful !!!too much

  • June Carter was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen -

maybe only out-shined by her beautiful voice or her faith in Johnny or God Himself.

  • sucks

  • sucks sucks sucks

  • Too bad the photos aren't Johnny and June. But a lovely recording never the less...

  • Such a beatiful woman !!

  • Can someone explain to me what this song is all about... I think love or somethin...

  • The first part of this recording is Anita's recording not June.

  • Four years after the song was released, Carter and Cash were married which Cash states helped to stop his alcohol and drug addictions. Cash's daughter, Rosanne has stated, "The song is about the transformative power of love and that's what it has always meant to me and that's what it will always mean to the Cash children."

    Now You know!

  • @Woody642 "Carter & Cash were married which Cash states helped to stop his... addictions"

I could be wrong, but my understanding was that Mr Cash himself credited Jesus w/ helping break his addictions -- and June w/ bringing him to Jesus?

If I'm right on this, it's the one thing I disliked about the otherwise perfect movie: they really downplayed his faith, and its importance in saving him in every way possible.

    Pretty disrespectful to *both* JCs!

  • The taste of love is sweet

    when two fiery hearts meet

I believed you like a child

Oh but the fire went wild'

  • wrong lyrics ^_^

  • 'Love is a burning flame and it makes a fiery ring

Bringing hurt to the heart's desire

I fell in the ring of fire

I fell into, into a burning ring of fire

I fell down, down, down, down into the deepest mire

and it burns, burns, burns, burns

the ring of fire, the ring of fire, the ring of fire

  • When the song failed to become a major hit for Anita, Cash recorded it his own way, adding the mariachi-style horns. This sound was later used in the song, "It Ain't Me Babe", which was recorded around the same time. Mother Maybelle and the Carter sisters are prominently featured in the Cash recording singing harmony. It is also of note that Cash tinkered with a few of the original phrases in Anita Carter's version of the song:

  • After hearing Anita's version, Cash claims he had a dream where he heard the song accompanied by "Mexican horns". Cash allowed some time for Anita's song to catch on, stating: "I'll give you about five or six more months, and if you don't hit with it, I'm gonna record it the way I feel it."

  • The song was originally recorded by June's sister, Anita Carter, on her Mercury Records album Folk Songs Old and New (1962) as "(Love's) Ring of Fire". Mercury released Anita's version as a single and it was a featured "pick hit" in Billboard magazine.

  • Reese played an good part in walk the line !! She can sing!!!!!!!!!

  • I really like this video. I also like hearing this version of June singing the song she wrote about the man she loved. Now that I know the background of this song from the movie and from the introduction you wrote of a quote from June I can really identify with how June felt because I have felt the same way about someone for 25 years since I was 14.--Pamela Edwards

  • this is fake! this isnt june in the backgroud, and what Johnny sangs is the original song...

  • The people in the background are from the movie as most people alredy know. AND for your info JUNE was the author of this song. Johnny was the one to record it but was written by June.

  • Great song, two great versions:) --

  • I know I had to use pictures from the movie but there are no real life pics of them when they were young!!!! and that is the point of my vid

  • @gsophiaport ..you did very well..my friend

  • @gsophiaport "there are no real life pics of them when they were young!!!!"

I just googled and found a crap load of pics of June Carter when she was young as well as Johnny. You must not have done your work well... And you can't say that they weren't of the time period of this song because I found many that were. You can tell the years by the hair and clothes.

  • @gsophiaport You did well!

  • @gsophiaport i love it :-)

  • Great by English

    and by Arabic عظيم جدا

  • probably in the top 3 celebrity couples of all time, id like to hear others that are up in the top 3 or 5 if there are any to think of that is.

  • they were a real couple!!!!!!

  • very nice

  • This is a fantasy history! If you don't get emosjonally about this, you have a problem. A fantastic song about a fantastic couple! Could anybody have done it better??

  • yeah...makes me cry!

  • Wish there were real pics on vid instead of clips from movie. Anyways awesome song.

  • ΥΠΕΡΟΧΟ !!!

  • the true american legend !

  • Johnny rules !!

  • i only know i had a love that was forbiden with a girl named carol and to this day she is my best freind

  • What about the video, that isn't june and johnny...! Is it from the Movie?

  • Yes.

  • I love it how June's voice fades out and Johnny's starts, it' so neat to hear them!

  • Johnny and Merle Kilgore and I (Curly Lewis) were fishing in Casitas, Calif., and thats when Ring of Fire was created. (Under...Who Wrote Ring of Fire?)

  • I always heard June wrote this song when knowing yet trying not to fall in love withJohnny but also knowing she was in love with him/I loved the song also Buck Owens singing it iyts hard to believe they are all history seems like yesterday this song came out. We miss you Johnny,June,Buck Owens.

  • 'Somebody' said love burns sometimes. But hey, ya gotta walk the line. Happy Bday.

  • i think this song is about fallin in love even though u know its wrong.

but c'mon dont we or havent we all been there as such??????????

  • Schade: das sind Bilder von Reese und Joaquin....

  • hey its the internetzzz im sure u can find it around lol

  • thats not johnny cash thats phoenix! and resse

  • The song is June/JC...June wrote the song when she was trying not to fall in love with him..where would I get pics of that!..this vid is all abount the song!!!

  • Didn't knew that. I heard that she made for her ex husband to sing but it didn't work with him. Johnny Cash is like, I can give it a shot and it was a hit with him. That's what I heard.

  • @gsophiaport

You could have used pictures of them in that time period, and even pics of them performing together. Using pics of the movie is fucking stupid hell.

  • >that's Phoenix!

    OBJECTION!

  • @EDDIEinWAR That is the real June and The real Johnny Cash. You can hear a big difference between Resse Witherspoon and June as well as Phoenix and Johnny Cash.

  • @SatoshiHaruko i know xD i was being sarcastic, cuz of the movie you know.

  • wow :( i fell relly sad

  • Moving. Thanks.

June's singing is more nuanced, with more feeling. Johnny's is much less so, but has that classic feel to it.

  • this makes me miss someone :( it hurts

  • June actually wrote the song so its her arrangement. I don't know how you can hate it, it's her song.

  • Very, VERY nice photos, Thank you!

  • Luv the song......R.I.P

  • R.I.P

  • great song ,.. reast in peace

  • i love the sound of the violin

  • great movie, great music, love it!!!

  • i love this song so much

  • i love this song and i loved reese as june. she did a really great job.

but of course, nobody is as good as the real june. i named my horse after her <3

  • I really enjoyed, thanks for posting

  • It's a good song but I don't like the movie footage. Images of two Hollywood dim wits playing extraordinarily interesting people.

  • altough i wouldn't say dimwits, 'cause they had a very tough job and they pulled it off with flying colors ...plus they were pick to play those parts by johnny and june before their deaths (i read that in john carters book)

  • True love at all costs

  • i love the way they did this just like how i love Adam Lambert's version. I mean... both are equally good in the way they present it...

June and Johnny Cash sings it happily, expressing how happy they're when falling in love. An extremely positive mood.

Lambert's version sounds more like an 'unrequited love' song, or like he didn't mean to fall in love and the feeling is torturing him... but that makes it sexier. (kinda relates to what i'm going thru right now)

  • it's your opinion.

    i don't give a f*ck =)

  • Oh you prefer naive sentimentality? He gave this song depth.

  • . . i love this track . .

  • weird how one of the main songs johnny cash is famous for was written by his wife.

Great song, very nice background music, very relaxing

    RIP

  • how is that weird?

  • yea i dont see how that is weird

  • Great collection of Walk the Line movie photos! Wow!

  • I 100% agree with moonhop....met June, she was incredible and so caring.

  • June in my opinion was one of the greatest entertainers to ever live. She was a great comedien, great solo singer, great duet singer, fantastic songwriter, terrific at playing the autoharp, and a member of the greatest singing family in US history. What more could you ask for.

  • Yes she was... One of those who is so popular as she is still remembered in every generation.

I like the song hurt... It remembers me for a very special person I really loved... But it hurts to listen to this song =(

  • I love her voice.

  • do they sing together in the movie is what i'm trying to say? help, memory sucks...

  • no they didnt

  • Realy greate pictures and vid!! I love the song so good work 5*+

  • Did anyone read Vivien Cash's autobiography? In it she writes that June did NOT write this song as reported. Vivien said Johnny and a male friend wrote this song while on a boat fishing... and it was about a part of a woman's body.... She wrote Johnny told her he wanted to give June credit for the song because she "needed the money".... who knows for sure... what the real truth is...

  • Interesting, though i doubt thats true, i mean why would the Carter family sing it if that were the case, makes sense that June did write it. Strange though, i agree.

  • But didn't Vivien hate June?

  • June wrote songs for herself, the Carter Family (mostly together with her sister Helen) and others. so she could write songs and I do belive, that she wrote this one.

Vivian hate June so much, that she couldn't see anything good at her.

She gets very angry because of "Walk the line", she thought, that she get to much bad credits there. But after all I heard about her book, I think, this is the profe, that she was really that kind of person she was in the movie.

  • Best version I've heard so far.

  • I love this song... R.I.P June and Johnny..... I dedicate this song to my lovely fiance Amber (I LOVE YOU BABY)

  • Fond memories of warm summer nights....and I was glad I've been given the opportunity to have loved once...and lost....

  • this is a awesome song

  • Wow nicely done man! 100+ from me

  • What a wonderful version of this great song. 5*+

  • John stated that he had a dream where the horns played in this song. That's why the horns were added. It must have been a great dream because it a great song with the horns added. R.I.P. John and June.

  • Couldnt have said it better myself

  • This is the best recording of Junie singing it yet. Where did you get it from?

This vaguely reminds me of Anita's recording.

  • i luv june and the carters - country music pioneers. great musician in her own right but when she sang with johnny the stage was set on fire. where can you buy love like that??

  • he loved beibg around all the carter sisters

  • soo crazy i never heard this version before I love it! great video

  • Awsome Music, Great job.

  • Perfect example of balance between June and the man in black.

Illustration de l'équilibre parfait qui régnait entre June et "l'homme en noir"

  • Writing in two languages is impressive!

Riting Wa in two anguages la is pressive ima!

  • BEST VERSION

  • BRILLIANT CLIP.

    Thanx.

  • janomemb4- Nope. But with a man she knew was trouble, for instance, she knew there could never be another than this walking train-wreck with a gift of God. She never thought anything else than that it was meant to be, and if so - that God put her and John together. So the "Ring of Fire" was passion yet unfullfilled. Her "consequences": a marriage that made at least 2 disillusioned generations believe in love & marriage - even God. Lives saved. And a lot of joy. Truly work of the devil? No way.

  • Great job Sophia !!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • when i first heard about joaquin phoenix and reese witherspoon playing johnny and june i thought WHAT THE HECK? but they nailed this movie.

  • This clip is fantastic....this film did so much to bring Johnny to so many people;..Joaquin phoenix was robbed of an oscar he thoroughly deserved.

  • I had never heard June Carter sing this song. This is wonderful.

  • is it just me or in geography when they are talkin bout the ring of fire, as in the volcanoes ,does the hole class sing the ring of fire by JR

  • its true.

  • where can i get the version from june carter???it´s wonderful

  • Seriously, where can this be found?

  • I love this song. Great Johnny Cash! 5*****

  • so amezing..

  • one of my favourite videos. inspiring. thankyou so much. fabulous movie.johnny; we miss you.

  • Brilliant clip...well done

  • you know whats interesting. These songs, well this and hurt are kind "sad" songs if you think about it. But whenever im sad and feeling very blue, these songs actually make me feel a lil better. Because it makes me realise that no matter who you are, or how much money you make. We are all just people who go thru the same things that everyone else does.

    R.I.P. John n June

  • thanks for this fab music. june sounds really good here.thinking of you johnny

  • oh and great movie! :))

  • great mv and great song :)

  • All of the pics are from the movie

  • You´r joking, right?

  • oh my god never mind i thought that was good maybe i should start watching videos before i comment. and cool idea to start her version and then go to his great song both versions <3
