This is not right. A PSP 2000 cannot be charged via USB when it's completely out of battery. You have to use an outlet charger.

There's practically zero energy to be had doing this and you'll probably corrode the contacts on your cable.

I think what happened here was just the charge resettling a little in the battery from having sat there for a minute - not actual charging from the onion.

A battery is more than just an electrolyte with metal stuck in it. The metals are supposed to be dissimilar so that there's an exchange of electrons. The contacts on an iPod/PSP cable are all made of the same metal as one another...

I think that this video is fake. They tried this on mythbusters for viral videos and it did not work. Also he was supposedly charging with the usb port on the psp. You cant charge the psp-1000 whih he was using with a usb cable unless you hard moded it. So yeah i think this is fake.

This is a HOAX! When a battery is discharged, an electrochemical reaction proceeds at the negative electrode & passes electrons into the external circuit, & a simultaneous electrochemical reduction reaction proceeds at the positive electrode & accepts electrons from the external circuit, thereby completing the electrical circuit. Even if it does work, there would have to be separation of the positive & negative electrodes & a voltage control mechanism. The onion/gatorade doesn't satisfy this.
