These guys are right. Civil War ended badly, but look at what Marvel has done. Decimation: depower already hated people: dumb: Dark Reign: Osbourne as top cop: dumber, and now Siege. My hope is that Marvel, which still creates great books (Secret Warriors, Dark Wolverine, Punisher Max) allows writers to create stories instead of being part of some over hyped crossover.
Hey, the ending of Civil War may of been anti-climatic, but seeing the Village People take down Captain America and the resistance was possibly the most jaw-dropping endings in the history of story telling, only because as you guys pointed out, it's unbelievable stupidity.
If you hate them so much why do you keep reading them. It doesn't make sense. You're just beating on a dead horse. It seems like your running out material to talk about. That should be your New Year Resolution.
And how the hell do you think McNiven is just an alright artist. That's insane.
Yawn. If you like the book lugo, fine by you, but don't get on us for talking about it. The 'if you don't like it why do you read it' argument is old and stale. And if YOU don't like the review, DON'T WATCH IT. Happy New Year. Heh.
As much as I hate Mark Miller (Nemesis sounds....well, stupid), I actually kinda liked Civil War quite a bit. Still, the best Marvel crossover event is Secret Wars.
Hi boys! Mike Millar is in my opinion a complete arrogant SOB. I prettty much hate his work. Where has the original ideas gone? Millar tells better stories about himself and his creative genius, then he can ever write. I WON'T be picking this up anytime soon.
I agree about Old Man Logan, alot of websites praised that last issue, but I was rather disappointed. It was one of the most predictable things I'd ever read and was essentially 30 pages of Wolverine gutting people. Then added in the covers from the first 7 issues and a few skethces, I bought the god damned things, I dont need Marvel to reprint the f*cking covers just so they can jack up the price.
For Ultimate Power it was Bendis then JMS then Loeb. Do we really need another Millar/McNiven book? It's gonna take forever to come out. Why does the comic industry keep making the same mistakes???
any thoughts about batwoman being kicked off of detective comics? Rucka wanted to finish up his over arching story in detective but Didio isnt allowing it....so Rucka is plannin to tell it in a new ongoing batwoman comic...(if that even happens..but it would be great if it did) sooo...any thoughts to Didio back peddling and not lettin Rucka finish things up in Detective? lol ..i was extremely pissed! i love kate and thinks she deserves better
@deemar325 my thoughts exactly I was just about to type the exact same thing. Civil War dismissed the normal formula of hero vs. villain. It allowed the reader to pick a side and choose who they thought were the villains or the heroes.
I cannot believe that you thought Civil War was a dud. Civil War was friggin' Amazing and EPIC!!!!! I loved the ending and the state that it put the Marvel Universe in. I also didn't think the end to Old Man Logan was anticlimactic.
no offence man but Civil was a terrible series and a terrible event. "What if the heroes fought each other", wow what a new and exciting concept.... and it fucked up the Marvel universe since then, leading into the terrible Secret invasion series/event and the insultingly awful Dark Reign.
Again, no insult to you but the ending to Old Man Logan was appallingly bad, really really incredibly awful. Millar hasn't done a good series since Enemy of the Start and JRJR carried him on that one
E I still disagree about CivilWar, one thing I always say about that particular Event. It actually took it changed to landscape at marvel most events rarely have lasting impact.
My huge problem with Civil War was that Millar cheated and MADE characters act out-of-character just to further the story. That;s just terrible and lazy writing.
I actually enjoyed the Civil War tie-ins waaaaaayyyyy more than the actual mini-series.
Oh yeah, I love how Marvel puts great artists with the worst writers like M.M./JR.JR., Bendis/Immonen etc., it's pratically like saying the best artwork will be in the most terribly written books on the market.
i agree, also in many independent books or for instance boom studios aritists. idont want to bash their work because its good sequential art but lets be honest, at the endart really matters because it attracts people to read the book. For example Y THE LAST MAN story is incredible but theart simply tells the story, also many vertigo books story is more important than art but to attract more readers and sell more books art is important. Even though y the last man sells really well.
So what if Batman was actually a completely psycho villain like the Joker? That's Millar's high concept for NEMESIS? Has Frank Miller been informed? Because I think good old Frank has pretty much covered this ground before in one way or another with the Batman character. Has Millar forgotten All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder? One of the main underlying themes of the Batman character is how Bruce Wayne blurs the line between being a hero or villain, Just not seeing anything new here.
I'm still trying to forget about The God Damn Batman and Robin. Oh wait... I think this sledge hammer will be able to help me.
.......
Hrrmm, it didn't work... but I now have this strange feeling that Battle for the Cowl was the best thing I've read all year. And now as I continue to pontificate about it I believe Tony Daniel is the best artist the industry has ever seen.
Why am I thinking these things!? Make it stop! Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
My apologies Jose, bringing up All Star B & R is the equivalent of releasing the Conflicker virus on any comic book fan's brain. The more you try to get rid of the images from that book from your mind, the worse it gets =) The only cure is to read Blackest Night #6 while drinking the adult beverage of your choice.
I'm lucky because haven't read All-Star B and R so I have been spared the torture!!! But then again thats what I said about Red Hulk and Battle for the Cowl... then I read em... and I suffered.... meh I'll probably read All-Star B and R to laugh at it. Or should I just never read it?
Nemesis has so many familiar and retread concepts like y ou guys detailed that it is just a complete joke. its obvious that he's just doing it so he can sell the "concept" to hollywood.
I would so love if a really GOOD concept like Marshal Law by Pat Mills and Kev O'Neill was made by Hollywood, that had one of the best batman satires ever.
i think mark millar just wants to be morrison, and this whole nemesis thing just sounds plain retarded. plus batman as a villian? in a way i kinda see batman as a villian already, wtf?? millar pisses me off.

One comic came out today. ONE! Of course, it was DC's current cash cow, Deadest Nut!
At least my local funnybook shop had a big sale to make up for the 'skip week'.
