@ewinenger I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but the theme played by the cor anglais is very much similar to the hobbit theme of the lord of the rings.
@discouniverse Where is the beauty? If you were born in Czech Republic, Slovakia, or any middle- European country, you would know where the beauty is. When i close my eyes, I can see clearly all the things I did as a child. Playing on beautiful meadows, running through high grass, listening to the river, playing with dandelions, getting wet in warm summer rain, eating raspberries and apples... Unless you lived through this, you will nut understand. Just please, respect others..
Englischhorn///////////////......war er sicher sehr nervos.........einige Tone stimmen nicht, die Floete leider wieder unvorstellbar......Blech sind ok, aber die Streicher sind einfach.........Albtraum.......
i used to play and perform in bands and orchastras. but i have decided to stop. i still love music and always will. i especially love closing my eye and using my imagination to listen to what the world has to say. from beauty to the unknown. unknown to the fact that their is beauty in everything. but i couldnt stand the criticism that i gave myself as a musician. and others to themselfs. as long as u listen with a warm heart it will sound beautiful.
By any chance if anyone here plays computer games there is a game called civilization 4 and it includes tracks by,Dvorak as well as beethoven, and mozart this song as well as others are in the game and you can get them as mp3 files under a game file saved on the computer.
interesting playing...I think the conductor was a little confusing to follow though, i really don't know (im 13 playing this in my orchestra) but it sounded kind of mismatched to me, I like to hear it much smoother and even. Good players though, not bad!
I was listening to this performance with a score and I have to say it is quite poor. Musicians making mistakes, conductor have a problem with tempo and balance and so on. Karajan is better but the best I heard for this piece was Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin listened to this movement moments after they landed on the moon, July 20th, 1969. They admired the lunar surface as no two other human beings ever had before them with this playing in the background. TRUE STORY.
He was born near Prague in village called Nelahozeves, which is in the centre of the Czech republic. And we definetely consider him as Czech composer.
That wasn't very nice... why would you go make a sexist bash like that?
Yeah i can admit there are both guys n girls that don't have the talent for music n other stuff but what they lack in talent they make up for ability and wit
hey dont be mocking us we can conduct all of my drum majors are females and the condect well some men cant conduct as some women its a talent watch what you say or post
I don't like being critical because this piece is so beautiful, but the conductor changed form for almost every measure. I would have a very tough time following her.
Hey Buck-a-roo First of all we are in America not Great Britain and I know from the first entry tvaughan made he is not a brit The reason this is the top version on youtube is because it IS a great performance--poor recording notwithstanding I know this because I live in Kamuela and witnessed this orchestra's performance first hand and I know how it actually sounded
Again "practiced" not "practised" Work on your own weakness It has something to do with "...taking the BOULDER out of your own eye so you can see clearly enough to take the pebble out your brother's eye"
Hey buddy...practised is how British people spell it. Perfectly acceptable in, well, pretty much every place that speaks English other than the USA. Preferred, actually...
And T Vaughan is right. Though the recording equipment is no doubt sub-studio quality, several members of this orchestra are painfully out of tune. Extenuating circumstances for this particular group aside, I was disappointed that this (sub-par) performance is the top version of Dvorak 9-2 on youtube. c'est la vie.
It's easy to judge something when you don't know the background. The musicians in this orchestra come from all over the Big Island, many of whom drive 2 hours to get to Kamuela. Others fly over from Oahu, Maui and Lanai just to play with this orchestra. Consequently, there is limited time for rehearsals. Two on Sat. before the concert, one on the day of, then the performance. All things considering, pretty damn good.
Again, it's easy to judge when you don't know the background. What you don't know is all the concerts are free so that anyone of any income bracket can attend, including those with children. At almost each and every concert, people are turned away at the door because the house is full. I don't understand your bitterness and anger over something that doesn't affect you in the least.
Even though Dvorák claimed that American music was the influence of this symphony, you can clearly hear elements of Bohemian/Moravian folk music in it, especially in the first movement.
This largo, however, is very coloured by native American music.
I absolutly love this! I'm in a middle school band (7th/8th grade), we play this song a lot, and I think we all agree that this is the best piece we have :D It's really fun to hear and play
What's a matter with you? Don't you know enough about anything to even be able to spell a simple word like "what" let alone have the ability to critique such a fine performance as this? Get a Life!!!
peoples spelling is something that everyone vaires in talent. You cant do anything about your spelling ability although i must say say I am studying in a top grammar school doing a levels. And this performance is not great. I simply pointed out that it is out of tune and for "professionals" or even any standard of adult orchestra should tune up AND have some sort of intonation ability ! FACT ... maybe you dont know what intonation is?
As to your issue with spelling, your recent reply to me confirms my point, (although strangely enough you did spell intonation correctly), However, as to your critique based on hearing a poor recording on youtube I must contend with you I live in Kamuela and witnessed their performance first hand and I tell you they were in tune And yes I know the definition of intonation
Luv this!!! I like the first movement alot more but this one is ok. The group I am in is playing this at our up coming concert. I think we are playing a Hanson peice as well. Thankz for the upload!!! :D:)

"Antonin Dvorak, a nationalistic composer from Czechoslovakia..."
Are you kidding me? Czechoslovakia NOT EXIST more than 19 years! Can you accept that?
Antonin Dvorak is CZECH (!!!) nationalistic composer, who lived in Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Ipaco88 2 years ago
It probably means his birth took place and he resided in an area on both borders.
Besides, Czechoslovakia lasted for 74 years...from 1918-1992
