The only solution to fix the climate is firstly society must be run by the majority of the world's population. As long as the world is run by individuals who only worry about profits and reducing social spending, this issue will not be addressed.Only in a world planned economy can money be used to build the resources we need to prevent an environmental catastrophe.

I agree with what appears to be the vast majority of the comments, but they're kind of mean. I'm all for the use of clean renewable energies, but this bill doesn't help at all. This bill essentially punishes businesses for not utilizing green technology that, quite frankly, doesn't exist yet. Also, if this bill is passed it will stifle the economy to a point where it will be impossible for us to even make advances in green tech.

Anyone who voted for this bill should lose their job in 2010. This bill has huge cost and is really just a bunch of taxes, and does very little to protect the environement. As for your 450ppm mark, what makes that important? Is it not a number that estimates 2C above pre-industrial times - an irrelevant number in itself? And based on unreliable models.

If we took 2C above the time of jesus and used the same models we might get 550. Or 3C above pre-industrial we might get 650

You use the word believe a lot, good choice, climate change is for believers.

This bill would not introduce a price on carbon until 2012, the year of the next election, so don't expect any law past now to be set in stone.

The purpose is to get legislation on the table to appease voters and those at Copenhagen in December.

But the bill is a big waste of time as climate fortunately isnt affected very much by CO2, and global warming has stopped happening.
