  • Yeah! What do expect these people have a consumer power of 1 trillion, but own nothing they can't even maintain their own communities. Maybe if you would stop buying wigs from Koreans you would have money to own those buildings in Harlem.

  • umm white people have forced to move out of neighbourhoods by blacks all the time..harlem was white before it was black. ''It is wrong for people of any race to trick and scheme their way into getting land.'' this happens all the time when they build social housing in good neighbourhoods people who worked hardall there life to live in a middle class neighbourhood suffer when the price of their homes drastically falls with the arrival of section 8 housing and the ghetto trash it brings, fact.

  • @AlizeCiz really they had black native indians in harlen first

  • @AlizeCiz just stop it you making me sick with your mouth and thoughts.......you make me want to snap the neck of a white person thinking like that

  • @jumpingonglass im not white, im actually hispanic & grew up in wagner projects, harlem, i moved to jersey to get away from the ghetto rats then they build section 8 housing in my new neighborhood? Fuck that.

  • @AlizeCiz take so you think all people on sec 8 are black and they are rats........... you need help because you sick in the head

  • @jumpingonglass no i just said that im from wagner bitch, so i know not all people in section 8 are black. My point is i worked hard to get away from the kind of ppl i grew up with only for them to build section 8 right next to me. ppl who complain about gentrification should know it works both ways.

  • @AlizeCiz your point of calling me bitch ?@?!?!?!?!? wtf wrong with youre ghetto ass mouth. you acting ghetto right now

  • OWNERSHIP IS THE KEY DONT LET YOUR GRANDMAS AND UNCLES N AUNTS N MOMS LOSE THOSE PLACES THEY WORKED SO HARD FOR

  • Here's why black LOST Harlem ....

    Watch this You-Tube video ...

Most Dangerous Neighborhood In New York...Harlem

  • I fck hate the hipsters.

  • Uncle tom motherfuckers sellin out for profit, thisisi the game folks.. lets all play, or what? die?or kill these motherfucker, folks gotta decide..not only harlem rest of us in the USA

  • im all for a neighborhood being safe but when you have hipsters with skinny jeans moving in then u got a problem

  • Love the guy in the green shirt, he knows what time it is. Even there elected officials are turning their backs on the people that got them elected and probably own all the old bldgs that are going to be torn down.

  • @TallGlassofFiji They are doing this in Baltimore, DC and Atlanta as well as other cities and the funny part about it, black elected officials which are Democrats are always in on it. They say Republicans are for the rich but if this ain't the pot calling the kettle black than what is it?

  • I see all sides of this argument, but where were these ppl in the 80's when Harlem's brownstones cost next to nothing.. why didnt they buy their own properties... yeah thats why the immigrants are getting ahead.. U can't even survive on 9-5 in NYC

  • Every neighborhood blacks move into becomes a blighted, crime-infested cesspool, and they complain that that's somehow Whitey's fault. Then, when whites actually start improving the area that has been destroyed, they complain about that, calling it "gentrification" (as if that's a bad thing). Taking a passionate stand against improvement while complaining about the blight. Unfuckingbelievable.

  • @PumpingSmashkins I was writing a long, inteligent, drawn-out response to your ignorance - but I ran out of characters. So instead - Fuck You Douchebag.

  • @analbeadsish Touche! Sorry that obvious, well-documented, easily verifiable facts, common sense, and science all conflict with your insanely moronic, yet "politically correct" "knowledge."

  • @analbeadsish I love how anybody who doesn't share your profound ignorance is "ignorant." And, no, you weren't going to write an "inteligent" response; you weren't even going to write an intelligent one, because you clearly aren't capable of doing so.

  • I've noticed,

  • Black racism rears its ugly head!

  • IS IT FORBIDEN FOR WHITE PEOPLE TO LIVE IN HARLEM???

  • @petar0500 No but it should be forbidden for rich white hipster fags to erode years of culture with their yoga clubs and fucking Starbucks. That is fucking ridiculous.

  • IS IT FORBIDEN FOR WHITE PEOPLE TO LIVE IN HARLEM???ARE YOU RACISTS AND DONT LIKE WHITE PEOPLE?

  • they know what they are doing they are doing it in coney island and in bed stuy. nut i mean come on ppl we all know that white ppl really destroyed us as a ppl but u can{t just sit around and not do business. ovr 1 trillion dollars runs thru our hands a year but as soon as we get it we give up to other ppl. if you do biz then you stand a chance but until then you{ll b kicked around, pushed around and thrown around

  • well it will happen if black ppl dont do business otherwise ur money will go right intto the hands of white and asian ppl via white restuarants and stores like starbucks and chinese food.

  • In all reality no one is going to move to Harlem. Real estate market sucks at the moment

  • All 3 Harlem City counselors (all black) agreed to the zoning of 125th. Why hate on white people fools? You guys sold yourself out, this isn't anything new!

  • This is stone cold corruption, that's all; capitalism devouring the world, turning everything it touches into a commodity to be bought & sold; including the souls of these Harlem politicians who voted for this plan. They're getting paid off, that's all. That is all.

  • ? Harlem was also a dangerous ghetto! Seriously, this is about as jaded as journalism can be. Whats next, a report on how money will ruin the "cultural identity" of south central LA?

  • @wzgriffith I agree. They would probably run a similar news report if they tried to rebuild Detroit or East Saint Louis.

  • Africans belong in Africa...period.

  • @TEVOSYAN "Africans belong in Africa"

The whites who brought blacks to America 400+ years ago would disagree with your statement. Plus, for centuries, those whites made boatloads of money off of that free black labor.

And that is what this story is about: making money by destroying the soul of black folks.

If capitalism could reinstate slavery as an institution, it would do so. And, in effect, it has done so in some places already. Capitalism is about profit; people can get fucked.

  • @bapyou did you know only less than 5% percent of whites owned slaves back in the days of slavery . You should be more worried about the rich.

  • @TEVOSYAN africans belong in africa, europeans belong in europe, asians belong in asia, native americans belong in america... PERIOD.

  • If every black on earth dropped dead - the world would be a much better place.

  • Gentrification happens all over the world. Thats why you should buy your property. Especially when its going cheap. Rent is dead money.

  • fuck gentrification and fuck yuppies

  • @tmprogram

Yeah because the ghetto is such a nice place to live.

  • @SaturnEternity then why move in there??

  • @tmprogram

Are you a moron. Please re-examine my prior statement and evaluate my point for yourself.

  • My black people need to learn how to sale there goods on a larger scale, you can't just wait for people to walk in the door. There is no more old school.

  • Well give another 20 yrs and the people can afford the properties when the wealthy move on to something else. It happens in a lot of large cities.

  • Fuck WHITE PEOPLE! Enough said.

  • @303Miles ...

    Screw the RICH people

Blame them for the poverty on this Planet !

    Enough Said !

  • @303Miles FUCK BLACK PEOPLE!

  • these guys can do anything they want. race has nothing to do with it. look at ray charles. hes freakin blind. where else can you be a blind black person but still acomplish as much as him. he was born poor and in the middle of racist country. these guys are in the middle of the greatest cities on the globe and doesnt even face the shit that there great grandfathers faced. they just need to grow a dick and find a job.

  • Its Happening all over New york Queens,Bk even in Philly.New orleans,ect.. Any where blacks are thats close to a downtown city area

  • Someone claims $700 a month is rent free. I'm betting that this same person would like social security to stay in place (giving folks cheap medical) and would support the bailout of rich Wall Street fat cats, and the tax incentives given to corporations. Why is it only when Black folks are involved do folks REJECT financial tactics meant to balance the scales. WTF

  • in nyc it is rent free. there is too much opportunity in that area and too little space for someone to be able to pay that little in rent. u have to allow market forces to work. and stop calling people bigots. thats hurtful. i dont have opinions about ss. i should research it. bank bailouts, w/e, barack and most politicians said the country would collapse if we didnt do it, so i think we had to. unfortunately, this country doesn't depend on hoodlums as directly, so they don't get bailed out.

  • Harlem, sadly, is not alone in this gentrification and business theft. Around the world, poor people, typically Black, Brown, are being pushed out. Hawaii, Jamaica, Bahamas, all over Africa. Slavery still exists, slaves just have cell phones......

  • Harlem was a temporary home for Africans, who own very little. Now it's gentrified, and the poor and working class are being sent out. Their lives are being used (their culture) to sell the hood. My friends, our world is one global plantation.

  • This happens everywhere, all over the world. In London this has been happening since the late 90's, Shorditch, parts of Hackney, Brick Lane and Islington have all changed for the better. If the people of Harlem owned their properties then they would benefit from this situation,

  • I've no sympathy. If you live in the neighborhood for thirty years, you should save up to buy property.

By 1999, there were huge buildings all along ACP Boulevard, Malcom X Blvd, etc. It was white entrepreneurs who refurbished them.

  • 30 years and not own the place you are living in, give me a break. No tears from me own the land and dictate your future, mr majic Johnson is a prime example of that his real estate holdings in harlem was a very shrewd move.

  • @kngston20 Another nonsensical post by a bigot. So you are assuming that she had the money to buy a house? How pathetic and ignorant a response. Besides, even if a person does have the funds to buy a home, they have a right not to, or is this country not truly for freedom of Blacks. Get a life and grow a brain.

  • Harlemites Unite start boycotting any business that is affiliated with any politician that supports this. Hit them in their pockets! Money or lack of it is the only thing they pay attention too. The same thing is going on here in Philadelphia. The black politicians here are simply giving away our neighborhoods to corporate developers for a job for their relative and get thirty pieces of silver for the trouble.

  • There were historic Jewish, Italian, Polish communities too that are now mostly black. It happens get over it. But I feel sorry for that old lady. She worked hard all her life and all she wants is to keep her house in her old age.

  • @Freshhhhh1982 You idiot, when Jews, Italians, Polish moved out it was not because they were forced out. Dumbo, I hate bigots and ignorant bigots. Which are you?

  • @gigagroove Oh so anyone who has a different opinion than your own is a bigot. Your a silly person.

  • @Freshhhhh1982 Obviously not you idiot. But clearly, folks like you that post text laden with bigotry are bigots. Now go on and leave us sensible humans to the human race.

  • @gigagroove Hey good luck in your life you will need it.

  • gentrification has helped hundreds of poverty-striken, crime ridden neighborhoods become livable again. As un-pc as it is to say this, let's face facts: There are many many examples of all-black communities improving when they mix it up a bit. I would rather have rents go up a bit over continued drug/crime problems. The most famous example: Cabrinia Green (all black and worst project in America), torn down now and gentrified... now it's a relatively nice, crime-free area.

  • @mlc2005 when a crime ridden area is gentrified all the thugs move somewhere else and ruin another area

  • Jay-Z is going to help this happen in Brooklyn with the nets

  • so these business men are supposed to let opportunity pass them by so they can house these people for free basically? that woman pays $700 a month for rent in nyc, thats ridiculous, why is she afforded that privilege? what about the business man's aspirations? if high income takes over the hood then low income needs to adjust. people have a right to buy land and sell it at whatever price in this country i thought.

  • @nemuburro You are clearly a bigot, so poor, blacks will have no rights. Go join the klan.

  • eff u. its such a cheap shot to throw out words like that. people hate being called a bigot or a racist. that's a lil much for what i said. blacks do have rights, however, they do not have the right to live somewhere and not pay rent. now they think they do for some reason b/c they havent developed skills and income to adjust to the changes going on around them. if u wanna have a conversation about it, im willing, don't throw out insults tho. who knows u might change my mind.

  • @nemuburro Firstly based on your response you dont' seem like a bigot or racist, those folks would have typically responded with nonsense. So let me step back and say: a) You are assuming that rents go up legally. You may not be aware that landlords break the law, threaten and harass landlords, I know of landlords that do exorbitant improvements (put in marble, etc) in order to raise rent via MCI, etc, so the folks with less income move out.

  • you are complaining about a landlord, or businessman, that improves his investment (the apartment building)? what is wrong with that? in this world their are winners, people want to win. what if that landlord wants to send his kid to an ivy league school? that stuff costs money. everytime you have a winner, someone else loses, gotta keep your guard up in this country and everywhere in the world. in this country everyone has a puncher's chance though, which is all you can ask for.

  • @nemuburro 2) You are assuming that all poor people do not have skills on par with their european/white counterparts. Sit with a few black corporate leaders who have trained their white counterparts, who came in with less skills but were promoted over them. 3) I'm not sure where you get the THREATEN and HARASS landlords from, but if you have any evidence please post it (besides people that did that would be jailed, etc. I think you're hypothesizing, have a good heart but don't know the deal)

  • in reference to this video, the people complaining about their rents going up obviously are lacking something; money to pay the rent. skills, oppurtunity, luck, whatever it is, the landlord should not be obligated to alter his plans to accomadate them, morally he should, but we don't have moral police in this country.

  • there are millions of competent blacks in this country. i meant the black people in this video, not all blacks living in this country. and the black people spewing racial hatred all over this comments page. telling hoodlums to rob white people, like hatianzoezoe a couple posts below. wtf is that.

  • @nemuburro 3) Where did you get that Blacks want to live rent free or that it even happens? I never stated that, I don't know of such places, nor was anything in this video stating that. The woman was paying rent. I think you create erroneous evidence to back your point, but that isn't really the way to get to the truth. I can help you understand the truth, if you want, but it takes an open mind. Peace and love. You may not have realized but the richest nations get rich off abuse of poor.

  • paying $700/month in nyc is rent free basically.

  • @nemuburro There is no changing you rmind. You are either a rich snob who can't has no compassion. Or a bigot who complains about any opportunity given to Blacks. Either way, let's not waste time on you, leave me alone, there are other people who I can invest communication time with who juts may be open and not under a rock of snob laden juices. This is my last response, I suggest you move on, you'll never change.

  • VOTE: Vote Bloomberg. OUT !

    Gentrification is Fantasy word for

your Land/ House is Being take over..

VOTE: Bloomberg Out ! and Anyone who is not Helping the people

    of Harlem.

There Many ways to Help Harlem.

    Find the right way.

    Peace out !

    Teri

  • i f**kin hate gentrification. I live in bed-stuy and they're really taking over my neighborhood. a lot of my friends have moved because the rent has increased so much to make room for these hipsters. i have nothing against white people living in my neighborhood but the stuy will never represent to them what it does to me. to them, this is just a place they can rent affordable apartments until they move up in their career and move into the suburbs. to me, bed-stuy is my home.

  • its not even about white ppl , its about class , cause them buppies(black yuppies) are just as worst as the white people , and also white ppl who share the same economic problems as the blacks in bed stuy , dont get on my nerves, but them rich yuppies living of their mom n dad,s pay is what gets me , and my question is , besides all the personal beefs in the stuy , y arent the goons robbing these yuppies every second of the day , these yuppies are basically exposed goldmines

  • some of them do get robbed but for the most part they get left alone bed-stuy has changed a lot it's not the hell hole it was in the 80's i guess thats why so many people new people keep coming here but let the recession get any worse people will start taking it back to that and i agree i should've included buppies because they have no respect for the neighborhood too

  • thats crazy , these goons actually have a oppurtunity to proove that their not against their race, and yuppies in the stuy get left alone??? thats crazy , yuppies walk around with cash , always a i pod in their ears , the goons in the stuy , n harlem could make made money of them , instead of robbing another nigga living in the same misery as them , sad shit , but fuk yuppies and hipsters , poor ppl should invade their mom and dads hood to see how it feels

  • harlem needs to riot!

  • man this is fucking bullshit harlem is one of my favorite hoods in NYC. the second you step there you just feel SO MUCH CULTURE. i fucking hate gentrification

  • 2.32 - 2.39 woman said

'the white people are taking over simple as that'

she should know she lives there

    passion people.....!

  • i dont understand your comment

  • well look at the history of harlem jews, italians, and other minority hites move in while anglos fled. then blacks moved in then puerto ricans. it seems like a cycle but i wouldnt know im from ca

  • 1:02 - 1:05 - Yes it is that simple

  • Why do you think the levies in new orleans were never repaired cause

    they always wanted that town.

  • I hate gentrification, because it always affects the minorities who are just trying to get by, and it's not about race, but about money. Race always enters the conversation, because typically it's the whites who benefit, i.e. the surgeon, and the minorities who suffer. That's why I say education is ALWAYS a good start for bettering your economic situation. It's not a magic bullet especially in this economy, but it goes a long way. But schools are bad and college is out of reach.

    one word: CYCLE

  • ??????????????

    you're a genius i bet

  • i was frustrated i was posting somthing that was not that bad and they would not post it

  • So they want to keep their neighborhood schmutzy or what?

  • huh?

  • Cover your mouth with your hand

3.Close your hand (make it into a fist)

    4. Hold you hand(the fist) to your heart for 5 seconds.

5.Send this to 3 more videos.

    6. Tommorow will be the best day of your life

  • 9:42 Man, she was a beautiful young woman

  • Let's see, the Dutch pushed the Indians out, the English Conqured the Dutch, the immigrants pushed the English out, Blacks, like me, pushed the immigrants out, and now the cycle begins all over again.

The truth is when we had Harlem we let it become one big open air crack house.

I got out 30 years ago. I've got no sympathy for anyone who's still there most especially since they're all recent additions.

Everybody I knew went to Atlanta years ago.

We had it and didn't take care of it.

  • not that simple man, not that simple. ask your self who brought the crack in. Recent additions will suffer the same Gentrification as an original Harlemite. Bottom line as a "United" country its not right that we would contribute to homelessness.

  • Blacks brought crack into Harlem, but suppose it was whites? What difference would it make.

Did they force people to smoke it?

And what does homelessness have to do with anything?

    You're grasping for straws, bro.

  • Homelessness is the result of one being pushed from his or her home without place to fall back on. Offering a substance that promises a change to your emotional state is work of an evil agent, it prays on the weeker of us. We all have free will but through how much can you hold on? Parralel, blacks didn't bring crack into america.

  • Why whenever blacks talk about gentrification the first thing a white person says is "what if it was the other way around" ..IT WOULD BE THE SAME FEELING! If the majority of blacks were wealthy and decided to move in on struggling whites(finding ways to force them out of their homes) I would be pissed too! It is wrong for people of any race to trick and scheme their way into getting land.

  • @04lamde08 umm white people have forced to move out of neighbourhoods by ghetto blacks all the time..harlem was white before it was black. ''It is wrong for people of any race to trick and scheme their way into getting land.'' please this happens all the time when they build social housing in good neighbourhoods people who worked hard to live in a middle class neighbourhood suffer when the price of their homes drastically falls with the arrival of blacks, fact.

  • @AlizeCiz Stop it..its not about race..its about money. Money has no color but green

  • @04lamde08 It's funny that cities from coast to coast this is going on and in 100 % of the cases the people being pushed out are always BLACK! You might find some people from other groups going through the same thing but not at the same rate as BLACKS!

  • but before im called racist, i think its bullshit that big money people and business are trying to move in and force everyone out. and the council people sold them all out.

  • I wouldn't call you a racist, but your resent seems misfocused. We are all an abused Minority and would have a greater affect if we stood together.

  • so if a white town tried to ban blacks from moving in, wouldnt that be called racism? im pretty sure jessie jackson and every other racist figure would come out and tell us again that the blacks were slaves and whites suck. maybe i should go get reparations from norway, england, germany and france? the irish had been slaughtered, survivors made into slaves. i just wish they had a great PR campaign like others.

  • dont say what if? we all know its the same if it were the other way around, people get persecuted fact of life.

  • its not as simple as 'a white town trying to ban blacks from moving in'. Black people aren't trying to ban white people from Harlem, rather struggling to not be kicked into homelessnes by Big money white or otherwise. Their taking advantage during the hard times. And yea if you still LIVED in Norway, England, Germany or France I would seek retribution. That PR of which you speak is merely one of us (whom I don't entirely agree with always) who has fought to position and become a reputable name

  • Manning is fiercely opposed to the gentrification of Harlem and calls for its residents to boycott its shops, restaurants, doctors, banks and churches. That action, combined with a general rent strike, would force all property owners out of Harlem, he said, leaving the neighborhood to its rightful inheritors: black people. Manning calls his plan "No Dew, Nor Rain," after Elijah's warning to Ahab, king of Israel, of a coming drought.

  • I understand boycotting shops, but the Churches?

  • It seems that the crux of the whole story starts at 5:00. "Clear the balcony, Sargent at Arms." When the issue came up for voting, the people of Harlem were told something different. "All three City Counselors from Harlem voted for it." Don't you just love representative government? Three Counselors representing so many people in Harlem. Why did they originally promise 50% affordable housing and then change it to 5%?

  • so true , not even 25 percent , but all the way to 5 percent

  • Comment removed

  • I see the so called repersenitives of the people voted yes for big money. I've said it before and I'll say it again Rioting is modern medicane when Corporate America and the courts steals your land and rights

  • Pastor Maning has been preaching The Vision of, 50,000 Righteous Men Living for the Lord in the community formerly called Harlem.

  • James David Manning is chief pastor at the ATLAH World Missionary Church on 123rd Street in New York City. ATLAH stands for All The Land Anointed Holy, which is God's name for Harlem.

  • same thing is happening in Hawaii. Rich white people and rich asians moving in buying up all the land and pushing all the lower class out. I could totally relate to this. where are we to go?

  • Mabye a riot would help?

  • maybe its what we need.

  • same thing happening, in brixton, london

whites who used to be scared are now taking over moving the blacks and poor people away.

  • It's not only happening in Harlem, this "gentrification" is also trying to occur in Chinatown. Oh & the United States Government granted Eminent Domain as Collarateral to china for U.S. debts?? This means that in the event the US Government defaults on its financial obligations to China, the Communist Government of China would be permitted to physically take -- inside the USA -- land, buildings, factories, perhaps even entire cities - to satisfy the financial obligations of the US government.

  • barrack obama was gay

  • We need some ghettofication... That will scare away the white people...

  • all us black should move to harlem and fight back... damn they want every piece of the globe just down right greedy.

  • The working class are always the first to feel the wrath of the capitalist dogma.

    Workers of the world unite!

  • Harlem is not the same place that I studied about. Today's harlem is in shamble because when we had a grasp on the community we forgot the number one thing and that's giving back to maintain your existence. Too many time when blacks get up on the top they fail to remember those on the bottom need a help up also.

  • Boo hoo granny

  • This really upsets me.

Why dont the rich/white elite want to live in like the suburbs...or on farms or whatnot?

Why must they gentrifry the only center of good black culture..that I as a minority can feel proud to walk its streets?

Now, I will have to live around white people who hate me..who hate my skin ..I hate this...Black people/minorities whom are intelligent,I think we should just move to our OWN island..or land..I am talking about the Obama like blacks/minorities..

    Not the loosers.

  • what goes around comes around trust me

the rich whites wont be in harlem for

    that long

  • Sad to say but the Obama you speak of won't even address this issue. He is not for blacks he is for the elitist crowd ..point , blank , period!!!

  • If this was a clip about whites wanting to keep their neighborhood white, you'd be crying racism, evil whites etc. Always the same fucking two-faced bullshit.

Here's a deal, we'll stay out of Harlem when you give back Detroit, East St. Louis, New Orleans, Gary, and all the other cities you animals have destroyed. Well, actually, Harlem (Haarlem) used to be white too, but I'm willing to make some sacrifices.

  • first of all you little pale face devil none of north america belongs to europeans so why the fuck you claiming shit like its yours. White is played out jack it's the end for whites all over the world. everybody is fed up with crackas. soo the world will be smoking you devils out of every hole you try to hide in bitch!

  • You´re stupid!!!

  • you arent even black. probably some spoiled white kid

  • dikkenalaise here's the deal. you acknowledge actual history then stay out of Harlem and leave it to the so called "minorities" and the descendants of the Wecksquaesgek Indians, the original inhabitants. You talk about destroying cities? What about the millions and billions who have died worldwide from European conquest and imperialism for 500 plus years

  • @dikkenalaise try being black and go into an Italian neighborhood good chance you'll be greeted with bats and nasty looks.

  • I was born in Harlem, and witnessed firsthand the bloodshed & addictions that terrorized my hood. Still, i have so much respect 4 Harlem & it's ppl. Yes, It is a predominatly black neighborhood but the thing is,it doesn't mean white ppl don't feel the struggle to. It doesn't mean they didn't live it. I am white, & I stand by these ppl when they say that the invaiders r takin our culture & what we have built. This beautiful town is the result of all our struggles. Pls dnt take that away from us

  • Learn to spell.

  • Learn to care.

    Peace.

  • I seen what "gentrification" does. My mother worked 60 years to own her house in Alexandria, VA. During the mid to late 70's whites started moving in. Not participating w/ the community That been ther since end on slavery. The taxes were raise to force the low income owners out of their houses. What was once an all black neighborhood only has 3 orig.living there. The rest are white and anti social.

  • same thing is happening here in east ATL and the West End

  • I seen gentrification happen to the East Village to parts of Brooklyn I love. All these rich people coming will turn nyc into a uncultured place.

  • /watch?v=S3F0kghJ4X0--watch

  • I do feel that Harlem had a very strong history that should be respected. However, I also see the benefits of gentrification. I believe that it comes down to "the greatest good for the greatest number." Which leads me to believe that economic stimulation through the process of gentrification is beneficial to Harlem and the surrounding area. I also fully support the expansion on Columbia U,which will serve to benefit many more then it will adversely affect. It is not said that knowledge is power?

  • Harlem has been black for over 80 years...when the Jews left once they realized that Harlem churches were funding rentals to Southern blacks. We have cultivated history, a Home, a place where we could be US after dealing with THEM. So please don't try and insult my intelligence that we needed financial support from Others to sustain us- God has sustained us through our strength, trials, fortitude, forgiveness and love that we extend to others even while being kicked in our arses...Research!!!!

  • So we decided to embrace and cultivate our own...Please use logic when generalizing!!! If we, African-Americans are the minority, then please show me stats where we are the majority recipients of public services. If you are referring to urban areas ie Harlem, especially if we are the majority group, however let's visit poor white communities all across America and see what the nos. reflect...please stop skewing data for your own purposes- because they can be skewed both ways...

  • It never ceases to amaze me how Others continue to justify their actions. Let's keep it real (since so many Others enjoy using our terminology, culture, and physical attributes)...Blacks do not WANT to move into White neighborhoods but choose to do so (or attempt) out of necessity- better schools, housing, and networking opportunities, to name a few. History and statistics, however, reflect difficulty in even those with the financial means in gaining access to these communities

  • Rent control is a failure. I love at 10minutes where the lady is bitching how hard her life is paying $700 a month for rent. I wouldn't be the best landlord either if I was losing money on her being there.

  • Half of these idiots live off the government through welfare or section 8 housing. Now they're whining that their scam is coming for a scam.

These people are pathetically racist, if I called for my neighborhood to stay white I'd be labeled a racist instantly. Black migration has already ruined one school district in my town, when will the madness end.

  • This is funny considering how many non-Whites move into White areas that Whites don't want to stay in there. I appreciate that Blacks want to keep their communities Black, but can Whites do the same with their towns, communities, and countries? I am not advocating government doing this either. I would just like private arrangements to accomplish this.

  • There wouldn't be a problem if your racist asses wasn't moving in and moving blacks out then complaining about the culture. There have been whites in Harlem for a very long time. Just not your kind. And you can easily move to a state where you will not find one black. There are 50 states here. What happened in Rosewood happened all over the country just so you won't have to see any black people in your neighborhood. So stop fucking complaining and move to one of them.

  • yes with high rent look at

palm beach island all white... compared to West palm which is almost all black

  • This isn't about race. This is about cash. These people happen to be black and poor. Make no mistake. If they were white and poor they would be pushed out too. America only knows one color. Green.

When Harlem is done do you honestly think Little Italy and China town won't bite the bullet. Manhattan will be one giant Island of wealth and wealth alone.

    New Jersey welcomes you.

  • It is about money. But also the theme of this video is the fact that Harlem has a growing economy. Harlem is one of the few places in New York that has a good amount of black owned black supported businesses. The fact of the matter is Harlem was changing for the better. Many live in brown stones and nice sized apartment buildings, with nice sized apartments. My aunt and uncle just moved down South because their land lord was forced to sell. Now people come in and complain about the culture.

  • I used to live in Bedford Stuyvesant, many blacks there live in brownstones in nice clean neighborhoods. Most of the blacks that own brownstones and apartment complexes are from the island. 2 summers ago many of the brownstones were mysteriously burned down. The thing is that many of these people that own these brownstones do not have insurance. Before the fires a certain people were trying to get them to sell but they refused. I'll let you figure out who the wanna be buyers were.

  • Owning anything and not paying insurance on it is stupid. Doesn't matter what color you are, stupid is stupid. They chose to put themselves at unbelievable financial risk. They did that to themselves.

  • I knew that would be your response. It just further goes to show how soulless some people out there are. But that's okay, the time of people like you is almost up.

  • Look man I'm far from soulless. People have to take personal responsibility. I left home at the age of 16. I managed to work my way to a Masters degree in Engineering. I've been on my own a long time. The best lesson I ever got was "CYA" Cover Your Ass. I learned a lot of hard lessons over the years but fiercely protecting your position means survival. It's about having a good defense. Had these folks paid insurance they would have new buildings right now. God helps those that help themselves.

  • Education is key to help people. All people. The thing that the wealthy fear the most ... more than any single thing in the world ... is a well educated general public. We have to educate ourselves on money, economics, civics ... that is the power. Accept the hard lessons for what they are. A lesson. Learn from it. Tell your friends about it. Be better for it. These things do not define you as a person. It's not about ego or guilt or blame. Learn and move forward.

  • What your saying is true. But what you don't realize is why people from the islands come here. They come here to put there kids through school. They want that American dream like everybody else. Everybody can't afford to save up for their kids college and pay for insurance. Yes it is being too prideful and it was dangerous for them to not have themselves covered. But I highly doubt that they knew people could be that greedy that they would destroy what they had. But now they know.

  • Moral of the story is, people are fucked up.
