SUFJAN IS SO TALENTED AND OPEN MINDED.i admire him so much for this..i feel like a lot of the music out there today is so closed minded and somehwat uncreative but sufjan is so polor oppoisite,,he doesnt care if someone finds his music weird because he doesnt care for anothers opinion when it comes to his beautiful music--demonstrated in this AMAZING VIDEO
I came across this piece of music at a video dedicated to Ulrich Mühe. I must say I didn't watch any other music of Stevens because I'm afraid I could not enjoy it as much as this one. That way I also am so closed minded like you say which I feel bad, even sorry about. Is it just me or is there this world to blame for? I once read a book listening to that two-minute video all through. This special sound made me get a feeling which I'm seemingly addicted to. Strange things that good music does.
Yeah, a great musician is a great leader; he pushes us and brings us to a place where we don't necessarily want to go but have to 'cause it's even better there. Sufjan does that brilliantly. He constantly forces me to think about every single detail in his music and I love him for that!
I don't know if you know anything about sufjan stevens, but it's from a concept album on Michigan. Although you should probably ask Yia-Yia and Pappou.
lpluss - i also want to know if he's some part greek. i have been listening to greetings from michigan for a while but i just looked at the back of the cd and saw the name of this song. the yia-yia and pappou was very cool - since i'm greek and that's what i call my grandparents.
Anybody know if he has Greek heritage? Yia-yia = grandmother and pappous = grandfather in Greek (and it's even declined correctly in the title as "pappou")
You're seriously my hero for posting all of these. And I'm not sure if you didn't know the title to this or not, but it's "Redford (For Yia-Yia & Pappou)," from MI.

I don't have sheet music, but I am positive that it goes as following
FA
AC
E(f)G
GB(f)
Then back to the beginning. You can figure out the rhythm pretty easily.

My yiayia and pappou would love this song. The piano is beautiful. And his voice, I think, is very soothing.

UGH, too beautiful, I mean just STUNNING. Why doesn't he play this live more? Same with Holland, I bet that'd be just as amazing.

He's half Greek, half Lithuanian. Read it in an interview some time back, but unfortunately can't remember what it was...
