If 50 000 to 70 000 UK kids where dying yearly because of the lack of these gifts, then I would hope it was always welcome and I doubt there would "deeper damages".
The thought of other people dying especially kids of something that can easily be cured in places like the UK makes me want to try and do something to stop it from happening. Hense why I give money to causes like Comic Relief. They help people to make a better life for themselves and their families. Not just go to 'here's some food...enjoy!' or whatever. They help people to help themselves.
Like I said, this isn't about what race someone is. It's about supporting people.
Deeper damage? Like what? If anything, the deepest damage is caused when someone, especially a child, dies because of a disease that could easily have been cured.
At the end of the day it's not about race, gender, sexuality, whatever...It's about doing the right thing and supporting people in need. No one is trying to make out they can't cope. All charities like Comic Relief are doing are giving people the chance to live their lives, quite literally, to the full. Simple as.
