What cruel basterd would do something to his own creation? I am 14 years old, and apperantly im more down to earth than most of you un-formal people.

urantia has a major flaw right at the get go when they describe god as omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, infinite, and eternal and that he is a loving father, you cannot have such a being in this world because it doesn't allow for the problem of evil/unnesecary (sp?) suffering, it can't work,,, imo
i dont care about the reason why whoever wrote the book thinks this world has sickness and disease, but if the book starts with a definition of god that cannot work imo, then there is no need to waste my time on the rest of the book, if you start with an invalid premise then everything that follows would also be invalid
@xd1rtx Nobody wrote that book! It was presented in a series of papers over many years. Given that it DOES allow for the problem of evil and suffering, what is the invalid premise? It might be that this book is too complex for you to understand. It takes lots of time to read and the concept of Deity takes a while to comprehend. Some people take years to get it. Some never seem to.
"God in The Urantia Book is the creator and upholder of all reality—an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, infinite, and eternal spirit personality.

So no need to investigate further. God cannot be all knowing, all powerful and loving, if children are allowed to starve 2 death.
@xd1rtx Go a little further, and you will learn that God has created everything of his own free will. Similarly, God has given evolving man free will that is absolutely sovereign. No being in all the universes can interfere with man's free will as it operates within the realms of choice regarding his eternal destiny. Evolving man must be fallible if he is to be free.
Free will means that man is free to choose to do good or evil. continued...
@xd1rtx cont'd... If one man is to be absolutely free, then another must become an absolute slave. It is man himself that has created the setting for suffering, and not the Creator. Man is absolutely free to make the choices, do the deeds and endure the results.
God does not interfere with our free will, ever. One might compare God the Father to a loving earthly father. Children will go out and do whatever they wish. Sometimes there are consequences. continued....
@xd1rtx cont'd... The father loves his children and wants them to grow up safely and to be good people. The children make mistakes as they grow. The wise parent knows that the child must experience some things for him or her self.
The intriguing thing about creation is PATTERN. We see it repeated endlessly.
nice try, if a man rapes a child and god sits by idley because the mans free will is more important than the childs, that is not a god i can believe in, you compare god to a loving father who lets his children experience things to find out for themselves what is right, this fails also, i am a loving father, if my child is going to be raped, i know about it, and i have the power to stop it, i will not allow it to happen, i don't care whose free will i trample on, am i better than god?
@xd1rtx We also have diseases that attack us and our free will cannot prevent that. Rape is violence by another human. Grownups are just as vulnerable as children to being raped. God does not intervene in anyone's free will choices. That is what is meant by "another must become an absolute slave". It is law. Imagine a world where God intervened with every choice that every person made...how would any of us learn and grow?
it would be gr8 if there were a god that intervened, especially on behalf of children, if a man went to rape a child and a god stepped in and stopped him, two things would happen, 1. all people would know that god exists, 2. people would love god, the world would be a better place, i cannot believe in a god that does not intervene, he had no problems imposing on mans free will in the bible,, the only possible solution is that god is either a numbskull, or fake
@xd1rtx Yes it would be gr8 if children did not have to suffer because of sick adults. Which kind of world would be better: One in which God intervened every time a sicko did some sick thing, or a world in which there were no sickos period?
Forget the bible...start all over with your own inner voice to know God the Father's love.
either world would be fine, just to restate myself, an all knowing, all powerful, loving father figure god cannot exist in a world where children are raped, starved, pimped out and sold, i am in total agreement about forgetting the bible, it is, afterall, a bullshit fairy tale, not even a good one i might add, but my conscious can not help me to know "god the fathers love" my conscious is better than a god, there is no sense in wasting time on a god, if there is one, it wont care
@xd1rtx I agree, there is very little of God evident on this planet. The Urantia Book explains about two defaults in our history that are responsible for the way things are. In a nutshell, there are other beings in the universe, and they also have free will. Certain of these exercised their free will, which resulted in a negative impact on the people of our world. The Creator didn't stop them from exercising their evil choices either....
@xd1rtx Nevertheless, mankind does continues to evolve spiritually, however slowly. It is your own free will to choose whether or not you personally wish to. Your choice--and God allows you to have this choice. It definitely is possible to find that connection within oneself if you really want to.
thats all fine and dandy, we can agree to disagree, just so you know, no being allows me to have free will, i am able to make choices in my life, but no gods interfere, or ever have as near as i can tell, a god does not reveal itself in todays world, probably never has, and until the time comes when a god decides to show up, it is nonsensical for me to pursue a "spiritual/religious" stance. if a god wants me, it knows where to find me, until then it doesn't exist
@xd1rtx Ironic...that's why I said to Google Urantia...almost 100 years ago God's messengers sent us a revelation...it is making its way around the world and has now been translated into dozens of languages, including Russian, and even now going into China! You know relationships are two-way. You got to want to find God before God can find you!
none of this changes what i said, there is no reason to pursue a god, if there is a god it knows where to find me, it doesn't need to send messengers to write another book that speaks of things it cant prove,,, if my child were lost and i wanted to save him, if i knew where he was, and i had the power to go get him, he would not have to look for me, i would find him, i would not send messengers, 70 yrs prior to his birth, to write a book that i knew he would find nonsensical
@xd1rtx These revelations of God are going to change this world for the better. If you have a child, then you surely will welcome the truth, beauty and goodness that will result. We start by realizing that all people are brothers and loving one another.
or,,, these revelations are an attempt by some dishonest men to play on the weakness of superstitious people and take their money..... which sounds more logical,,, magic is real and their is an invisible father figure, who refuses to be provent to exist and is communicating to the majority of people on the planet and telling them all opposite things, or, men are greedy and dishonest and will tell you anything to get your resources/cash? i agree we r all people and i respect that...
@xd1rtx The truth is there are greedy, dishonest humans on this earth, always has been. The fact is, this doesn't have to be so! It would not be magic to bring up children so that they love one another as brothers and sisters. So that they have values that look to the highest good of all. So that life on this world is more about giving and loving than taking and killing. It IS possible! And that is what the revelation's goals are.
@xd1rtx ...In almost 100 years, there has been no attempt to profit from it. It changed my life 30 years ago, made me a better person, and has not cost me nor anyone that I know who reads and lives by it a single cent. The book and its teachings will continue to spread and grow over the next century. There is hope for everyone at last!
no one has ever made a dime off of the Urantia book? seriously? its for sale right now. someone is printing the thing and is making money off of it, just because you haven't put any money into it, doesn't mean that someone else isn't. you don't need a spirit guide to make you a better person, and who is to say you are a better person? better than what? if a religion helps someone, that doesn't make it true, some people overcome drug addictions thru islam, does that make islam true?
@xd1rtx The Urantia Foundation publishes the books and it is a non-profit foundation to continue publishing forever. Many thousands of books have been given away, thousands donated to Libraries (I have placed many, courtesy of the UF). Many thousands have been given to peoples in South America and all throughout Africa. Many thousands have been placed into prisons throughout the U.S.
@xd1rtx It is true, nobody makes a dime off them. Where do you think the money comes from to do all this printing? Do you know what it costs to print and distribute a book? The money comes from the sale of the books. If you want to print more, you have to recover the costs. The translation effort alone is costing millions. Where do you think the money comes from to fund that? Many people volunteer their time, but translating to Arabic and Chinese are challenge
@xd1rtx "Better person" could mean anything from no longer throwing garbage into the street to consciously starting loving and serving others as much as you humanly can. I try to do both. The key word is TRY, to try to do better every day. Anyone can do it. But will they keep doing it every day for the rest of their lives?? Will they be inspired to do it every moment?
I don't see "religion" as being the same as connecting with that little part of God that indwells your mind.
So noone in the organization makes any money off of it? I don't believe that for a second, the catholic church is a non profit organization also, ever seen the vatican, tell me they don't make any money... even if they didn't make any money, that still doesn't make it true, you didn't answer my questions, drug addicts sometimes overcome addiction thru islam, is islam true? this was your point right? and none of that overcomes the problem of evil with "god the 3omni/loving father"
@xd1rtx If I thought for a moment that anyone made money from the fifth epochal revelation that was presented to our world in the last century, I would do everything possible to expose and stop it. Thousands of UB readers would jump on them so fast they wouldn't know what hit them! Please do not equate any church to the revelation. The church is man-made. The revelation is not.
@xd1rtx The churches are so corrupt that they have destroyed the message that will save our world: that we all have the same loving father, and we are all sisters and brothers. Drug addicts may overcome addiction in any number of ways, not always thru religion. I think the core value of what gets us grounded, ie away from our addictions, is love.
@xd1rtx There is some truth in every religion, and love is also a part of each one. I disagree with the Islamic precept that they are "the one true faith". Islam & Christianity both are far removed from God's will. Are you on Facebook? If you are, join my friends and you'll have lots of people who can respond to your questions better than I can.
no, i'm not on facebook, but i am enjoying this form of media with you. you said that Urantia has made you a better person, for what 30 years now right? but when i ask you if a drug addict who gets off drugs uses islam to do so does that make islam true? you didn't answer but I think I know you don't believe that situation makes islam true, so your presup about Urantia making you better should not mean anything to me as far as the truth of urantia, right?
@xd1rtx Sorry :-( I don't understand what you are asking. The revelation gives us messages that will change the world for better. It may or may not change a drug addict. It changed me. It changed thousands of others for better. Although how would you or anyone else know if you never grasped it? Be very careful if you do though, in case, (forgive me God) it might make you a better person too. ;-~
my fault for not phrasing that question well, do you think that because you believe the Urantia book has helped you be a "better" person, that this makes the Urantia book true? ,, to answer your question, i will never know because I can't accept that the god described in the Urantia book exists... as we have previously hashed out, as long as innocent children are raped, starve to death and are mistreated by others, an all knowing, all powerful, loving father figure god can not exist
Your argument is a closed circle that allows no explanation for anything. There is a reason for everything. Consider this: You and your child live on a street where there are 50 men who love to rape children. Rapist #1 grabs your child. God comes along and strikes the guy dead. He drops the child. The child is traumatized and terrified at being grabbed, dropped, witnessing this murder. cont'd...
@xd1rtx cont'd.....Your child is standing there screaming in terror when Rapist #2 comes along and grabs it. Again God comes along and strikes #2 dead. At this point, I think the child would be need major treatment. But no, Rapist #3 comes along and the scene repeats ad nauseum. Is that the kind of life you'd like for your child?
That's exactly how it would be, if things went the way you would like!
really, there would be 50 guys standing in my street ready to rape my kid if god would intervene? no, it would go like this, one dude tries to rape my son or daughter and god stops him, every other rapist in line would see this and say,,, nah, i don't think i'll try it, the end. even if your scenario played out, wouldn't that be better than the kid getting raped? however none of this happens, because no god intervenes on childrens behalf, never has never will, why? there is no god
if things went the way i would like, and a good and loving god existed, rapists would not exist... and god would have no problem showing up in your living room and siting down with you to explain anything you want to know,, if this god were all powerful, he could stop the hands of time and have no problems doing this for every person on the planet, then there would be no question of gods, everyone would know, and still be able to choose not to follow if they didn't want to
you used the "fact" that noone makes any money as more support for the validity of Urantia, however in the by-laws of the Urantia Foundation as well as the preamble to the urantia book, clearly states that all members will pay membership dues and they require a %10 tithing? make no mistake my friend people are making money off of this,, you cannot be naive enough to actually believe that the titheings and membership fees all go towards the book, the urantia org. is also man made
@xd1rtx There are a number of Urantia related associations and yes there are membership dues for these. They pay for the websites, the mailouts, the meetings, brochures, etc. Who else would pay for all these things? I get magazines and mailouts from many of them every year and never send any money. It is not necessary to be a member of the Foundation nor any of the associations. I TOTALLY DISAGREE that anyone profits from the UB financially.
Type in Urantia Book Constitution in google, thats where its at.
Have you never read the Constitution of The Urantia Book Fellowship?
Shame on you, you should really read these things, to be specific, section 5.5.
Also, how is it that you KNOW that not one dime of the money/property/profits from the stock market, thats right, your beloved Urantia brothers and sisters invest Urantia members money in the stock market,, but you KNOW, not one of them profits,, huh??
It is a wish of the unbeliever that all religions are the same. It allows them to reject God's savior in favor of a vague god--who is essentially themselves--a god who agrees with them. This way they are not under authority. They create a fake Hollywood god in which only guys like Hitler dont go to heaven.
Christ said--there is other way but through Him. You must accept the real God. The one who has testimony--witnesses. Tonight, like a child--ask God for the truth of Christ.
No religion has such witnesses and testomony. It is backed by the death of thousands of early witnesses. They were thrown to the lions by the Romans--yet Christianity defeated the Roman empire only 150 years later. So, the worlds most powerful empire believed a story from people they considered no better than insects--the Jews.
No religion can claim such a wide spread to other cultures. To claim any religion is even similar is complete ignorance of religion and world history.
The Koran has been deemed by scholars as unintelligible. Like the other lesser religions it is a mish-mash of confusing thoughts. The Bible is the only credible document and it considered breath taking literature.
Christianity is the only one that claims God actually came to earth in the person of Christ to save humanity. No man, in any major religion has ever claimed to be God except Christ. His disciples were all murdered when they refused to deny the resurrection. read part 3
The question stems from ignorance of world religions. Essentially there are only 3 Major religions-- Judaism, Islam and Christianity. A study of Hinduism and Buddhism will show they are a huge mix of ideas and not one consistent thought. There is no testimony for those religions. No witnesses.
Judaism pointed to a perfect savior. Christianity is the culmination of that thought. Islam's book..the Koran, which is based directly on the Bible, declares the Bible got it all wrong. read part 2
@Rizzy55 Look when people say "they are the same" they mean that most world religions instruct you to live your life with self control, and not to take advantage of others (stealing, killing, coveting...). Its not to say the way to god is the same (ie rituals) but the ideas behind coexisting with one another are very similar.

Religion is a means for social control.
It's just there to stop people from taking control of their own lives.
Throughout history the ruling class has always feared freedom and religion is just one of the many tools they use to supress it.

either world would be fine, just to restate myself, an all knowing, all powerful, loving father figure god cannot exist in a world where children are raped, starved, pimped out and sold, i am in total agreement about forgetting the bible, it is, afterall, a bullshit fairy tale, not even a good one i might add, but my conscious can not help me to know "god the fathers love" my conscious is better than a god, there is no sense in wasting time on a god, if there is one, it wont care
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@xd1rtx I agree, there is very little of God evident on this planet. The Urantia Book explains about two defaults in our history that are responsible for the way things are. In a nutshell, there are other beings in the universe, and they also have free will. Certain of these exercised their free will, which resulted in a negative impact on the people of our world. The Creator didn't stop them from exercising their evil choices either....
faithson 1 year ago
@xd1rtx Nevertheless, mankind does continues to evolve spiritually, however slowly. It is your own free will to choose whether or not you personally wish to. Your choice--and God allows you to have this choice. It definitely is possible to find that connection within oneself if you really want to.
faithson 1 year ago
@faithson
thats all fine and dandy, we can agree to disagree, just so you know, no being allows me to have free will, i am able to make choices in my life, but no gods interfere, or ever have as near as i can tell, a god does not reveal itself in todays world, probably never has, and until the time comes when a god decides to show up, it is nonsensical for me to pursue a "spiritual/religious" stance. if a god wants me, it knows where to find me, until then it doesn't exist
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@xd1rtx Ironic...that's why I said to Google Urantia...almost 100 years ago God's messengers sent us a revelation...it is making its way around the world and has now been translated into dozens of languages, including Russian, and even now going into China! You know relationships are two-way. You got to want to find God before God can find you!
faithson 1 year ago
@faithson
none of this changes what i said, there is no reason to pursue a god, if there is a god it knows where to find me, it doesn't need to send messengers to write another book that speaks of things it cant prove,,, if my child were lost and i wanted to save him, if i knew where he was, and i had the power to go get him, he would not have to look for me, i would find him, i would not send messengers, 70 yrs prior to his birth, to write a book that i knew he would find nonsensical
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@xd1rtx These revelations of God are going to change this world for the better. If you have a child, then you surely will welcome the truth, beauty and goodness that will result. We start by realizing that all people are brothers and loving one another.
faithson 1 year ago
@faithson
or,,, these revelations are an attempt by some dishonest men to play on the weakness of superstitious people and take their money..... which sounds more logical,,, magic is real and their is an invisible father figure, who refuses to be provent to exist and is communicating to the majority of people on the planet and telling them all opposite things, or, men are greedy and dishonest and will tell you anything to get your resources/cash? i agree we r all people and i respect that...
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@xd1rtx The truth is there are greedy, dishonest humans on this earth, always has been. The fact is, this doesn't have to be so! It would not be magic to bring up children so that they love one another as brothers and sisters. So that they have values that look to the highest good of all. So that life on this world is more about giving and loving than taking and killing. It IS possible! And that is what the revelation's goals are.
faithson 1 year ago
@xd1rtx ...In almost 100 years, there has been no attempt to profit from it. It changed my life 30 years ago, made me a better person, and has not cost me nor anyone that I know who reads and lives by it a single cent. The book and its teachings will continue to spread and grow over the next century. There is hope for everyone at last!
faithson 1 year ago
@faithson
no one has ever made a dime off of the Urantia book? seriously? its for sale right now. someone is printing the thing and is making money off of it, just because you haven't put any money into it, doesn't mean that someone else isn't. you don't need a spirit guide to make you a better person, and who is to say you are a better person? better than what? if a religion helps someone, that doesn't make it true, some people overcome drug addictions thru islam, does that make islam true?
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@xd1rtx The Urantia Foundation publishes the books and it is a non-profit foundation to continue publishing forever. Many thousands of books have been given away, thousands donated to Libraries (I have placed many, courtesy of the UF). Many thousands have been given to peoples in South America and all throughout Africa. Many thousands have been placed into prisons throughout the U.S.
faithson 1 year ago

I don't see "religion" as being the same as connecting with that little part of God that indwells your mind.
faithson 1 year ago
@faithson
So noone in the organization makes any money off of it? I don't believe that for a second, the catholic church is a non profit organization also, ever seen the vatican, tell me they don't make any money... even if they didn't make any money, that still doesn't make it true, you didn't answer my questions, drug addicts sometimes overcome addiction thru islam, is islam true? this was your point right? and none of that overcomes the problem of evil with "god the 3omni/loving father"
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@xd1rtx If I thought for a moment that anyone made money from the fifth epochal revelation that was presented to our world in the last century, I would do everything possible to expose and stop it. Thousands of UB readers would jump on them so fast they wouldn't know what hit them! Please do not equate any church to the revelation. The church is man-made. The revelation is not.
faithson 1 year ago
@xd1rtx The churches are so corrupt that they have destroyed the message that will save our world: that we all have the same loving father, and we are all sisters and brothers. Drug addicts may overcome addiction in any number of ways, not always thru religion. I think the core value of what gets us grounded, ie away from our addictions, is love.
faithson 1 year ago
@xd1rtx There is some truth in every religion, and love is also a part of each one. I disagree with the Islamic precept that they are "the one true faith". Islam & Christianity both are far removed from God's will. Are you on Facebook? If you are, join my friends and you'll have lots of people who can respond to your questions better than I can.
faithson 1 year ago
@faithson
no, i'm not on facebook, but i am enjoying this form of media with you. you said that Urantia has made you a better person, for what 30 years now right? but when i ask you if a drug addict who gets off drugs uses islam to do so does that make islam true? you didn't answer but I think I know you don't believe that situation makes islam true, so your presup about Urantia making you better should not mean anything to me as far as the truth of urantia, right?
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@xd1rtx Sorry :-( I don't understand what you are asking. The revelation gives us messages that will change the world for better. It may or may not change a drug addict. It changed me. It changed thousands of others for better. Although how would you or anyone else know if you never grasped it? Be very careful if you do though, in case, (forgive me God) it might make you a better person too. ;-~
faithson 1 year ago
@faithson
my fault for not phrasing that question well, do you think that because you believe the Urantia book has helped you be a "better" person, that this makes the Urantia book true? ,, to answer your question, i will never know because I can't accept that the god described in the Urantia book exists... as we have previously hashed out, as long as innocent children are raped, starve to death and are mistreated by others, an all knowing, all powerful, loving father figure god can not exist
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@xd1rtx To answer your question: no.
Your argument is a closed circle that allows no explanation for anything. There is a reason for everything. Consider this: You and your child live on a street where there are 50 men who love to rape children. Rapist #1 grabs your child. God comes along and strikes the guy dead. He drops the child. The child is traumatized and terrified at being grabbed, dropped, witnessing this murder. cont'd...
faithson 1 year ago
@xd1rtx cont'd.....Your child is standing there screaming in terror when Rapist #2 comes along and grabs it. Again God comes along and strikes #2 dead. At this point, I think the child would be need major treatment. But no, Rapist #3 comes along and the scene repeats ad nauseum. Is that the kind of life you'd like for your child?
That's exactly how it would be, if things went the way you would like!
faithson 1 year ago
@faithson
really, there would be 50 guys standing in my street ready to rape my kid if god would intervene? no, it would go like this, one dude tries to rape my son or daughter and god stops him, every other rapist in line would see this and say,,, nah, i don't think i'll try it, the end. even if your scenario played out, wouldn't that be better than the kid getting raped? however none of this happens, because no god intervenes on childrens behalf, never has never will, why? there is no god
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@faithson
if things went the way i would like, and a good and loving god existed, rapists would not exist... and god would have no problem showing up in your living room and siting down with you to explain anything you want to know,, if this god were all powerful, he could stop the hands of time and have no problems doing this for every person on the planet, then there would be no question of gods, everyone would know, and still be able to choose not to follow if they didn't want to

@faithson
you used the "fact" that noone makes any money as more support for the validity of Urantia, however in the by-laws of the Urantia Foundation as well as the preamble to the urantia book, clearly states that all members will pay membership dues and they require a %10 tithing? make no mistake my friend people are making money off of this,, you cannot be naive enough to actually believe that the titheings and membership fees all go towards the book, the urantia org. is also man made
xd1rtx 1 year ago
@xd1rtx There are a number of Urantia related associations and yes there are membership dues for these. They pay for the websites, the mailouts, the meetings, brochures, etc. Who else would pay for all these things? I get magazines and mailouts from many of them every year and never send any money. It is not necessary to be a member of the Foundation nor any of the associations. I TOTALLY DISAGREE that anyone profits from the UB financially.

i sent you the url and a message of warning about your executive committee's seemingly endless powers over a private message re: url

Part 4
It is a wish of the unbeliever that all religions are the same. It allows them to reject God's savior in favor of a vague god--who is essentially themselves--a god who agrees with them. This way they are not under authority. They create a fake Hollywood god in which only guys like Hitler dont go to heaven.
Christ said--there is other way but through Him. You must accept the real God. The one who has testimony--witnesses. Tonight, like a child--ask God for the truth of Christ.
Rizzy55 1 year ago
Part 3
No religion has such witnesses and testomony. It is backed by the death of thousands of early witnesses. They were thrown to the lions by the Romans--yet Christianity defeated the Roman empire only 150 years later. So, the worlds most powerful empire believed a story from people they considered no better than insects--the Jews.
No religion can claim such a wide spread to other cultures. To claim any religion is even similar is complete ignorance of religion and world history.
Rizzy55 1 year ago
Part 2
The Koran has been deemed by scholars as unintelligible. Like the other lesser religions it is a mish-mash of confusing thoughts. The Bible is the only credible document and it considered breath taking literature.
Christianity is the only one that claims God actually came to earth in the person of Christ to save humanity. No man, in any major religion has ever claimed to be God except Christ. His disciples were all murdered when they refused to deny the resurrection. read part 3
Rizzy55 1 year ago
Part 1
The question stems from ignorance of world religions. Essentially there are only 3 Major religions-- Judaism, Islam and Christianity. A study of Hinduism and Buddhism will show they are a huge mix of ideas and not one consistent thought. There is no testimony for those religions. No witnesses.
Judaism pointed to a perfect savior. Christianity is the culmination of that thought. Islam's book..the Koran, which is based directly on the Bible, declares the Bible got it all wrong. read part 2
Rizzy55 1 year ago
@Rizzy55 Look when people say "they are the same" they mean that most world religions instruct you to live your life with self control, and not to take advantage of others (stealing, killing, coveting...). Its not to say the way to god is the same (ie rituals) but the ideas behind coexisting with one another are very similar.
