  • women like this should be the very famous singers not the shit singers like kesha and katy perry ....

  • on which track of the soundtrack is this song???

    its awsome!!!!

  • @RubyBlubi Im not certain but I thinks its just "Lament For Haldir"

By Howard Shore with the London Voices Choir.

  • @shum65

i found it, its at the beginning of Isengard Unleashed...

    thanks though :)

  • @RubyBlubi Hi there Ruby, glad you found it my friend, thanks for

    letting me know :-))

  • @shum65 no worries... :)

  • @RubyBlubi its on the third soundtrack track 17 if i remember right

  • I had no idea Liz Fraser was on this soundtrack, but it's not surprising, since she sang a song for another of Peter Jackson's films, "The Lovely Bones". There are other female vocalists I would have like to hear on a LOTR soundtrack, like Bjork or Lisa Gerard. I'm happy to have stumbled across this. It makes me think that maybe I should listen to the whole soundtrack.

  • @deliusism1 Hi there, it was a surprise to me also, I have the box-

set of all the films and hadnt heard this song, theirs also another song

from the LOTR featuring Liz, check it out in my uploads my friend :)

Glad you enjoyed this extended version. :-))

  • she's still my flaxlawna in posypity gap

  • @posypity thanks. I'm trying to reply to everyone [multi-anti-decimal]. I appreciate like coolclouds all your kind marks...and remarks.

  • Has anyone got lirics of this song? It's gorgeous

  • @wajust Hi there, I'm sure someone will be able to help with the lyrics, have

you tried typing the songs title and lyrics in Google Search? it may work, sorry

I dont know the lyrics myself, good luck with that my friend, glad you enjoyed

this awesome song, I agree it is gorgeous. :)

  • @shum65 the lyrics are a mix of scottish welsh and gaelic tounges one of her greatest achievemens is that we all hear the call tho we may not understand its meaning Miss Frazier has done amazing work since i heard her in the late 80s early 90s

  • @wajust Ar sindarnoriello caita mornie. Ar ilye tier undulave lumbule.

( Out of a grey country darkess lies. And all paths are drowned deep in shadow)

  • @wajust This video is a clipping of the song. The full lyrics are: First Verse (Quenya) A Olórin i yáresse Mentaner i Númeherui Tírien i Rómenóri Maiaron i Oiosaila Manan elye etevanne Nórie i melanelye? Verse 2 and 3 (Sindarin) Mithrandir, Mithrandir, A Randir Vithren ú-reniathach i amar galen I reniad lín ne môr, nuithannen In gwidh ristennin, i fae narchannen I lach Anor ed ardhon gwannen Calad veleg, ethuiannen.
  • @Rumilhir Translation: Olórin, who once was... Sent by the Lords of the West To guard the lands of the East Wisest of all Maiar What drove you to leave That which you loved? Mithrandir, Mithrandir, O Pilgrim Grey No more will you wander the green fields of this earth Your journey has ended in darkness. The bonds but, the spirit broken The Flame of Anor has left this World A great light, has gone out.
  • @Rumilhir

Those are the lyrics to Lament for Gandalf.

This is a lament for Haldir, and the lyrics sound different to me.

  • @wajust

    Ar sindarnóriello caita mornië,

    Ar ilye tier unduláve lumbule...

    Are seen-dar-noh-ree-ell-oh kay-ee-tah more-nee-ah,

    Are eel-yay tee-air oon-dool-ah-vay loom-bool-ay...

And out of a grey country darkness lies,

And all paths are drowned deep in shadow...

  • @maledictae Many thanks my friend, ..!!! ;-))

  • @maledictae Taken from the poem Namarie of Tolkien:)

  • @maledictae well interpreted and a tough one as well

  • Liz Fraser and no other!!!! She should have sang all three lead songs for the three LOTR movies. She has the best overall vocals Enya and Annie Lennox are fine but none can compare to Liz Fraser's vocals. Peter Jackson made that small mistake, good for Annie she got the Oscar but I think Liz deserves it.

  • @jmrios777 So true my friend, Liz has such a special quality to her voice,

so dreamy and moving, such a pity she wasn't recognised for her role in the

soundtrack, yay Liz for the Oscar..!!! :D

  • is this the scene wehre the elves are walking through the woods?

  • @IcyScythe I know the first part of the song is from the Helms Deep scene when Haldir the Elf Soldier dies.

  • Thank you for your wonderful contribution to Liz and Cocteau's dear Shum 65 !

  • @Vrevion Hi there my friend, many thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate them,

Its been a real pleasure to make videos to such beautiful music. :)

    Best Wishes to you Vrevion...!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Vrevion HI there my friend, sorry you didnt enjoy this or other videos that I create,

But I much appreciate your thoughts about them, Its always good to get others opinions,

Thanks for taking the time to comment, its nice to hear from you Vrevion. :)

  • If I didn't know better, I would have thought that Elizabeth Fraser was really an elf from lothlorien.

  • @xsailor85 But she is...lol ;)

  • @NicolaWriter I so agree about Liz, shes such an icon, with vocals of an angel....

She never fails to pluck at the heart and soul with her talent..... :)

  • Ok, again I love the use of color with black and white, but where are the pies?(kidding) I have a couple of questions for you: 1. When you pick a font, do you just go with your gut instinct of what looks good? 2. There's writing/script near the beginning. Is that from the movie or if it's real, what language is that?

  • @ganyuehan Mind that pie...ha-ha..about fonts, to be honest theirs not a huge amount of

choice on movie maker, I cant be too adventurous with mine as my computer is so full

with stuff, that lots of times it keeps missing words out when I try to publish them, so I dont

really put to much writing in. I filmed that old script writing from a series on tv about medieval

Britain, not sure what language it could be though..? Thanks buddy... :)

  • whoever is comparing elizabeth's voice to alanis is a damn retard.

  • @milobarron no one is comparing anyone. anyone who doesn't know liz fraser or the cocteau twins and if they listen to teardrop by massive attack, they would generally think that's alanis. I played teardrop numerous times and I played it to all of my friends and also to My english teacher once at school and they all think that it was alanis singing because alanis often sings in a soft, wispy, lilting soprano if singing a ballad and all of my friends and my teacher don't know who liz fraser is.

  • @Mr1991ladarius you must live in canada.

  • Comment removed

  • @milobarron I am an American of Scottish-Canadian Heritage (past Ancestors are from Cape Breton Island of Nova Scotia to be exact) and what does this have to do with Liz Fraser and Alanis Morissette? Are You implying that all Female Canadian Singers sound like Alanis Morissette?

  • @Mr199ladarius i'm implying that they sound like bryan adams.

  • @milobarron God, Ur dumb.

  • @Mr1991ladarius sorry, i'm not the one that has seal in his favorites list.

  • @milobarron Wow, Ur even more dumb.

  • @Mr199ladarius i'm implying that they sound like bryan adams.

  • Comment removed

  • @milobarron I usually don't go for rabid rebuttals, but I have to agree with you here; either stunted or deaf.

  • SHUM65-- thanks much! No, i didn't mean to say that "Teardrop" was sung by Alanis. I was referring to the song "Teardrop" by Massive Attack. I believed for sometime that it was Alanis who sung that song because the voice sounded really like Alanis to me, until i found out it was a song by Massive Attack.

Now i know it's Massive Attack who sang "Teardrop", but whenever i hear that song i still feel like i am hearing Alanis' voice. it's just amazing i think. :-D

  • @jennyblue96 I understand what you mean, thats really good you enjoy "Teardrop" its a

lovely song, you have good taste jennyblue, its great to hear from you my friend... :)

    Have a fantastic weekend....!!!!

  • I agree with Mr1991ladarius-- she sounds exactly like ALANIS MORISSETTE in the song "Teardrop" !!! I am a big fan of Alanis' and was out looking for her every song and when i first heard "Teardrop" i totally thought it was Alanis singing !!!

  • @jennyblue96 Hi there, never heard "Teardrop" by Alanis, must check it out, maybe Alanis was-

influenced by Elizabeth when she was younger, Liz started recording back in 1981 in the Cocteau Twins.

I know Liz sang a track called "Teardrop" with Massive Attack some years back, is that the same song,

Love Alanis voice too, another amazing vocalist, its really great to hear from you jennyblue96.... :)

  • Wow such beauty in her voice! Hladir died a noble death, though it's sad to see him go =(. But he lives on in each fans hearts! ^^

  • @sasukevsorochimaru He sure does my friend, and this lament is so beautifully done.

I,m glad you enjoyed it, its great to hear from you sasukevsorochimaru...... :)

  • @shum65

Awe, thank you it's great to hear from you too ^^ (That was sweet)

Her voice makes his scene so heart breaking, and the scenes this in vidoe match the song. Amazing job ^^

  • @sasukevsorochimaru Many thanks my friend, I,m really pleased you enjoyed my video,

Liz's vocals here are so gentle and touching, just right for the scenes moment in the film.

Thanks for your fab comments, have a lovely week sasukevsorochimaru.....!!! :)

  • @shum65

You have a great week too! ;)

  • Is there any way you can send me a version I can download? I love it SO much.

  • Right ok... in movies, films and games when someone dies and music plays like this... what genre is it?

Because i'm trying to look for music like this and can't find the exact genre for this type of music, so far i've gone through - Orchestral, choral and ambient music and it just doesn't sound similar :( Anyone help me out?

  • @Tehevilpie Hi there, I guess they call them Laments, it is a difficult genre to slot them to.

I.d just try film/singing/Laments, its must be in that area, wished I could help you more.

Its good to hear from you my friend, good luck with your search....!!!!

  • @Tehevilpie try the word 'lament' with others, combine them, not that i know about genres much thoguh, nevertheless it might help...

  • COCTEAU TWINS

  • @culturevulture123 Hi there, thats right, this is Liz Fraser from the Cocteau Twins singing... :))

  • Świetna piosenka, nastrojowa, ma fajny klimat. =)))

  • @Crystal07ful Hi there, glad you enjoyed this moving lament my friend.....!!! :))

  • I wish they had expanded this more in the movie.

  • @davidslloyd Hi there, your right, it would have brilliant extended in the actual movie.

The vocals by Elizabeth were only a few seconds, so I extended them for my video.

Great hearing from you my friend....!!! :))

  • @shum65 Great job on the extended mix Mr D!

  • @MrHaggis64 Cheers no1, glad ya enjoyed it, it was really fun to extend it. and do

its video,I,m just gonna reply to your comment from Friday..... :))

  • @shum65 sounds so much better extended...

  • @IcyScythe Hi there, glad you enjoyed this extended version my friend, it was crying-out

to be extended to hear more of those dreamy vocals from Elizabeth, their was a longer

instrumental part to this but little vocals by Liz.. good to hear from you IcyScythe. :)

  • nice..beautiful..=)

  • @shum65 Lol :)

  • @08chazman08 Hi Their m8.....!!!

  • @shum65 Whos elizabeth fraser :L

  • @08chazman08 Hi Their, Elizabeth Fraser is best known for being

singer of the 80s Scottish cult Indie band The Cocteau Twins..

Shes well known for her unusual and ethereal vocal style..

Checkout both her band and solo work here on youtube.

    Cheers Chaz......!!!!

  • @shum65 Don't forget about Massive Attack and the most known "Teardrop" song which she sung on the Massive Attack "Mezzanine" album!!

  • @Agugasek Hi their my friend, your so right, shes done so many

amazing tracks with Massive Attack....thanks for that Agugasek..!!

  • @shum65 Good to know that someone else likes that what she's made for Massive Attack...... You're welcome.

  • @Agugasek I do indeed my friend, I hope she and Massive Attack

work together again real soon someday......great to hear from you.

    Have a lovely week Agugasek.....!!!!

  • @shum65 Thank you and same to you :) I'll add you to my friends if you won't protest... :) It's very rare to meet some person who thinks as same as me. :)

  • @Agugasek Its great hearing from you my friend, I gladly accept

your kind invitation, hope to hear from you very soon Agugasek..!!

  • Elizabeth Fraser looks and talks like Holly Hunter and sings like Alanis Morissette.

  • @Mr1991ladarius Hi my friend, thats a cool mix for sure, good hearing from ya.....

  • @Mr1991ladarius

THAT IS so interesting??? dont think she looks like Holly Hunter (she is just as attractive about projecting her face!!!!)

Alanis Morissette...... u mean the same vocal projection......

I am a great fan of CT, and have met 2 of them and also covered one of their songs when I met Simon Raymonde in 1997.....

thanks for the comparison/comment to this clip!

  • @Mr1991ladarius

you had me at holly hunter :)

  • @Mr1991ladarius no she doesn't. that comment makes you sound ludicrous. you're obviously on the wind up for no reason

  • Comment removed

  • @westendgla No, your the one who's ludicrous and on the wind up for no reason. The reason why I said she looks and talks like Holly Hunter is because Holly looks like her in the movie "The Piano" and sounds like her (minus the scots accent) and the reason why I said she sings like Alanis Morissette...Go listen to Massive Attacks song "Teardrop" and when you hear her sing in clear english she sounds like Alanis and how dare u act rude to me with your comment and u should be ashamed of yourself.

  • @Mr1991ladarius go and get yourself some glasses...she looks nothing like holly in the piano (one of my fave movies).....and liz doesn't speak with a lisp in a bad scots dialect like holly does (i'm scottish so my ear might be better for these things than yours)....and i've listened to teardrop and she does not sound anything like alanis (who always sounds like sinead o'connor to my ears, with a bit of an irish inflection there)... seems like comments should be grounded in reality

  • @Mr1991ladarius and if you still think she "sounds like alanis" i think you should reverse that statement to say that alanis sounds like liz, given the fact that liz has been around and singing a lot loner than alanis has. and liz has always sounded so unique, i doubt she'd model herself on anyone

  • @westendgla Earlier in her career with the Cocteau Twins, many british music critics compared her early singing style on their albums (Garlands, Head Over Heels) to Siouxsie Sioux from Siouxsie and the Banshees and her and the band had been around way before Liz and Liz said that the Banshees was one of her and the bands' influence at the time of the UK Post-Punk. Now, do you think she model herself on anyone? Go listen to Cocteau Twins' song Sugar Hiccup..Liz practically wails like Siouxsie.

  • @Mr1991ladarius if you read the interview correctly, liz admits to jon lydon and souixsie as being her fave singers. she says that early in her career she got compared to siouxsie a lot, and even though she herself "couldn't see it" she was sure similarities must have existed. i'm of the opinion, however, that she also sounds nothing like siouxsie, i think it's robin that sounds like the banshees in their early tracks.

  • @Mr1991ladarius but the fact remains, she sounds nothing like the lisping southern drawl of holly hunter, or the sinead stylings of alanis.

anyhow, i'm not here to argue with you. but if you're gonna post something, at least have it grounded in a semblance of reality

  • @westendgla U know wut, leave me alone or else I will report U for harassment.

  • One more thing, any word of her contributing to the new Hobbit movie?Thought you might have the inside track.I hope so.

  • I,ve never heard anything about Liz doing

a track for the Hobbit movie, but you never

know mate, its all kept hush-hush...??

Like you, I really hope so too....

Cheers mate...If I do find anything out, I,ll

    let ya know....!!

  • Brendan Perry/Liz Fraser collaboration. Now that would be a match made in musical heaven! what do you think, shum? And keep em coming!

  • That would be quite a duet your right mate

I would love to hear that one also.....!!!

Liz and Kate Bush would be another.....

I,ll do my best to keep em coming mate.!!!

    Cheers for your fab comments.....

  • @seasofabsinthe Liz and Maynard James Keenan would be my ideal vocal duet. Now who would be the band?

    Nice work Shum!

  • @gilgamesh79 Hi my friend, I,m glad you enjoyed this moving lament by Liz..

Its only seconds long originally the vocal by LIz, but I extended it to hear more of her

haunting voice, now who could be in that band??

    Thanks gilgamesh79.....!!!

  • @gilgamesh79 and shum, this short, yet extended bit brought to us by shum immediately reminded me of the musical arrangements of Brendan Perry from Dead Can Dance.Hence my previous comment. But throw M J Keenan in the mix, too?Awe inspiring!!! 4 Libras anyone?Bless the both of you.Great to have met such good friends!

  • @seasofabsinthe Cheers my friend, its great to have met you also, I too love the

work of DCD, esspecially with Liza Gerrard, we so need more bands like these,

  • Liz,

  • Hi sightsound, shum here mate....

I hope Liz reads your lovely comments,

I,m sure she would love them my friend..!!

    Best Wishes to ya......

  • No problem my friend.....your a true fan...!!

Its good to see your passion for music..

    and for the heavenly Liz.....

  • And deeper within.

  • Your so right mate......

  • Yeah,

Peter Jackson mentioned it in the special featured box set for Fellowship Of The Rings. I flipped out. So glad that Liz continued to express her fantastic and gifted voice talent that I believe and always have is the most talented vocal artist that has ever existed. Lisa Gerard next of course.

  • Elizabeth,

You are so beautiful. I'm sure you hear that all the time. My family came from where you grew up and settled the United States and pioneered to Jackson WY. I can't believe I'm just 9 years younger than you too.

  • Elizabeth Fraser super voice!

  • Hi mate..I totally agree with you....!!!!

  • Let's face it. Elizabeth fraser is a well respected person in all genre. For her to be commisioned to assist in a major motion picture soundtrack is a testament to her skill and reputation.

  • Hi mate, just replied to your kind words on my "Mary" video... I so agree, Elizabeth is well respected in many genres these days.... Originally she starts this much longer - musical score, with just a 40 second intro, but you know me, so I extended it into this 3 minuet version, I hope its works well. I don't think many people will have heard her sing in the actual film..did you spot the hand...? ha-ha.. Thanks again my friend...!!!
