I am Persian (Bakhtiari) and can appreciate what the song and the movement in the dance that mimics the actual dance and culture of the Bakhtiaris. you are more or less right yet you might like to know that Shir Ali Mardan is also kind of a "battle song" from the Bakhtiari tribe in Iran.
it commemorates a warrior, a hero from old times.
(the name Ali, is also suggestive of Imam Ali in the Islamic Shia faith. he is a strong religious as well as a warrior character in the Iranian culture. Ali is a very old Semitic name however with its root in the word El, meaning God.)
I think most Iranian grocery stores that carry music would have it. One in Chicago called Pars Grocery has the old AND all the new stuff. Everything from Googoosh, Hayedeh and Darius from back in the day to the lastest Persian pop. Call them I am sure if they don't have it they could probably tell you where you could buy in in LA.

I don't think he is consciously trying to imitate any specific mode of art. The man is a genius, and he dances to the tunes of his heartstrings. Perhaps you should know that Persian art and even martial arts goes back further in history than many other modes including Japanese.

Is this like... Expressionist dance or something? >_> Sorry, don't mean to offend but it looks like a child playing, just dancing around and flailing and having fun, haha. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just don't see much uh... Interest, I guess. Like no thought or time put into doing anything cohesive. The music is pretty sweet though.

One must understand the music and the movements in the dance to understand what the dancer is trying to show. I am Persian (Bakhtiari) and can appreciate what the song and the movement in the dance that mimics the actual dance and culture of the Bakhtiaris. No matter what nationality he is, I think he is a great artist.

Very interesting. And again as always the credit never goes to Persia for anything, when in fact so many many many things were invented in that land. Our enemies wrote the history of the world and took the best of ours and claimed it as their own. This more than anything hurts me deeply. If we had nothing, it wouldn't be so bad as to have had and lost through outright theivery and treachery.

I do karate for a long time and it really looks like the Katas we do in karate!!!!I cant see any attractition in this style, actualy it is no style and looks to me very violent and doent work with the song which is so soft and kind of sad

you are more or less right yet you might like to know that Shir Ali Mardan is also kind of a "battle song" from the Bakhtiari tribe in Iran.
it commemorates a warrior, a hero from old times.
(the name Ali, is also suggestive of Imam Ali in the Islamic Shia faith. he is a strong religious as well as a warrior character in the Iranian culture. Ali is a very old Semitic name however with its root in the word El, meaning God.)

I think most Iranian grocery stores that carry music would have it. One in Chicago called Pars Grocery has the old AND all the new stuff. Everything from Googoosh, Hayedeh and Darius from back in the day to the lastest Persian pop. Call them I am sure if they don't have it they could probably tell you where you could buy in in LA.

its differet! thats good. but it is more like a kind of variation on Japanese martial arts than Persian. i wouldnt cal this persian. the music is persian. not the dance. it doesnt even resemble iranian art. sorry

I don't think he is consciously trying to imitate any specific mode of art. The man is a genius, and he dances to the tunes of his heartstrings. Perhaps you should know that Persian art and even martial arts goes back further in history than many other modes including Japanese.
