Hodgkin's is like "winning the cancer lottery." It's is 95% curable. People usually only die from complications, like pneumonia and a poor immune system from chemo. So effectively they died from pneumonia + chemo, not cancer. My sister also had Hodgkin's and the doctors told her "If you were forced to get cancer, this is the kind you want." However, chemo still sucks and my sister got very seriously ill from chemo and was hospitalized for pneumonia. But she was cured years ago and is fine

@celsias my best friend died of HL in 2007 when she was 17 yrs old. Its definitely not the winning lottery of cancer. No such cancer exists.

@cerena I'm really sorry to hear that, and I meant no offense or to make light of it. There is no cancer that is easy to beat really. Chemo still sucks and comprimses your immune system. Did they catch your friends cancer early? Because catching it early is kinda what makes it the "winning lottery." But just because it has a 95% cure rate, there is still that 5% who have the cancer come back or don't make it. And when my sister had HL she was terrifyingly ill, so I meant no joke about it.

@celsias Its ok- she was in 8th grade and it was stage 1. She went through 8 rounds of chemo and radiation until she was 17. She would go into remission, then it would come back. It spread to her lungs twice and her lymph nodes. The tumor in her throat eventually got big enough where it broke an artery and she passed away. She had lost her vocal chord use bc of the tumor and could hardly talk or sing- her favorite. I'm so happy to hear others have survived though-especially Michael Hall.
