3)Opt for all of the insurance as possible for the track

if your man was experienced he would have known that bump was there which knocks you off camber, hell i've only done 100 odd laps but i know that. Driving that speed with that sort of rain was always going to end in pain, most "experienced" ring drivers won't go on track in those conditions, and my mates are VLN drivers

The ring is a very special piece of track laid together. My friends who tell me that they don't like tracks, I just tell they don't appreciate the level of skill involved driving through this course. Or any track in that mather. Long live the ring!

Sorry 'bout the mishap! Glad everyone walked away. FWD, Quattro, RWD, doesn't matter when you're going too fast and hydro/aqua-plane.

I had my'04 FWD TT, and now my '08 Quattro on skidpads and wet tracks & there's no other car I'd rather be driving in the wet.

Sure, the TT has typical Audi understeer, but this makes it very stable on a wet track and rear is difficult to rotate even when trying.

That is unless you're simply going too fast.

Wow !! So many experts on the internet! hehehe. The curbs wasn't touched at all. The crest lifted the car and it aquaplanned. That's it. The mistake was simply not slowing enough for the conditions. I've since done over 100 laps and most have been in the wet. I'd have missed a lot of fun if I'd never been or only driven on dry days. Some of you need to get out from behind the keyboard and live. Rather live and have regrets than regret not living ;)

I have to be honest i would have taken one look of that track and said no way jose. As ognirem has already said loads of practise is required before touching this track in the wet. It would take some balls for me to get on Nurburgring in the dry let alone the wet!!

Remember the number of deadly crashes when the TT came out. They putted a little spoiler on it, but its not that much better. And in the wet you pay for it. The rearaxle overtakes you without any announcement.

To gerry: Because in a proper Car with according Training driving on a wet Track is much more Fun. As i read this Driver does the Ring about 10 Times before. Sabine says - to do a proper Lap on the Ring in wet conditions, at least 100 completed Laps you should have for Practise before. Otherwise you get the Result above. Driver just did not have enough experience for the Ring. Plus: The Audi TT is very tricky because of its unproper Design.

When you book a trip the weather's never guaranteed so you deal with what you get. I've made around 10 vists I guess and at least half have been wet.

I was asked about insurance - basically make sure you have some! Many policies exclude the 'ring with the line about "derestricted toll roads". I was covered. If you do go without insurance then don't forget that you're driving on a public road in Germany without any legal insurance and if the police stop you (which they do) then you're for it!!

The slight rain got worse very quickly and I didn't react to the weather quickly enough. Ooops Speed about 110mph/190kmph. We went over the crest and water got under the tyres and that was it. We skidded a long way (around 600M) so we lost a lot of energy. I got a sprained wrist. The insurers covered all costs including the barrier repairs.

I still love the place ;)
