  • @Auzzie4Ever - thanks, you could get a POD HD which has got loads of effects and a pitch shifter - not sure how much they are in AUS$ :) Yes - I watched U2GuitarTutorials plus loads of other covers and guitar tab sites to work out how to play.

  • @robdavidson2105 where do u live

how much was it where ever u live

  • your vocal?

    FANTASTIC

    really like it

  • @222phobos - ha, not me singing .... its a backing track from u2guitartutorials! Thanks though !

  • 2:08 Chinese-like Solo

  • @Damase19 True. It's on the pentatonic scale which is quite universal to both western and eastern music. :D

  • This video is fantastic. Only one question: if i'm not wrong, there's not the guitar on the base, there's only the guitar that you're playing. Where di you find this base or how did you obtain it? Thanks

  • @Tura750 - the backing track with the guitar removed can be found from links on the website u2guitartutorials - have fun !

  • @robdavidson2105 Ok thanks! Now i saw that you had already written it in the description, sorry! Thanks a lot!

  • @Tura750 - No probs, BTW I've recently got a Pod HD500 which has a half decent pitch-shift - so I'll be re-recording this soon.

  • @robdavidson2105 I'm thinking about buying a Pod HD500. What about it? Do you like it playing u2? Because there are a lot of different pods by boss, digitech or line6 but I don't know which is the best.

  • Great Video!!!

  • Excellent-the tabs are really helpful.

Thank you for giving the time to construct this video.

  • @Ph33rS0m3 - the opening bars are using harmonics - just do a search on: how to play guitar harmonics. Thats how you get a chime kind of sound - takes a bit of practise to get a nice ring.

  • i want the pod patches.

  • Hey man, the next time you will do a cover of this song you can use my backing track :)

Its without the MAIN guitar track. Thank you

  • which tuning I must use in my guitar for beautiful day?

  • @olekcj111 - its standard E tuning for this song.

  • Hey ma nice vid! Love this tune. Could I get the patch for the clean delay at 0:30?

  • @RossWildish - thanks - have sent you a link to download

  • Beautiful work for a beautiful day. Very well done. This has helped alot. Thanks.

  • @hairbybrian - thanks, I'm plannind to re-do this once I've got a Pod HD500 - which includes a proper pitch-shifter.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I couldn't find a single tab online that sounded even close to the actual song. You saved the day thank you so much for posting!

  • sweet!

  • Mate, could you please share the basis of the Pitch Shifter/Octave effect you created? it ain't perfect but way better than mine hehe

    Awesome cover :)

  • @LEnriqueMachado - thanks !

I'm using the Line6 Pod X3 Live's stomp effect called Bender - the position dial is on 80/100, Heel and Toe are on 24, and mix is on 50/100. Its also got a 445ms delay with one repeat then finally a Dark Hall reverb.

  • veery good man, excellent finally i know how to play this right... :D

and btw couldnt you do a tutorial for new years day? :)

  • @mmatlassk - hey thanks, maybe one day - I've just finished doing Until The End of The World. I'll be putting the tabs up shortly

  • @robdavidson2105 veery good choice man :)

    thanks for the answer

  • your videos are awesome! could you do crumbs from your table

  • vey good, very helpful but how do u get the harmonics to sound so good.

i can barely get them i think its the amp

  • @beardo16662 - hi, thanks for the comment. On the Pod X3 I have a TS9 pedal simulator in the signal chain - I think part of the harmonic sound comes from the gain - the other thing is to barely touch the string right above the fret to hit the harmonic correctly - then as soon as the string is plucked stop touching the string to let it ring out.

  • @Ph33rS0m3 - thanks man

  • What guitar is that? Its sexy :)

  • @YFSproductions - Its made by Tokai and its the "Love Rock" model

  • haha you pitch shift isn't bad because it at least has that general sound, me on the other hand, i don't have one at all :P, thanks for the tutorial, yours are great

  • TANKX!!!!! I learn a lot from you. Now I know this awesome song! :) XD 8) 8D :D keep the good work up!

  • thank u for posting this like the way you havethe tabs set up the pops are really valuable too. great job! and good guitarring. I hope to play this one beautiful day!(Ok kinda corny i know )

  • Good :/ I love how you turn around when you weren't playing it ;) bit bait mate.

  • can u give me the backing track? i need it bad

  • @TheFunkyGlasses - yes the BT is freely available at U2GuitarTutorials - click on the Resources section then look for Amib's link.

  • Vlw mesmo! Tava procurando esse efeito do pitch-shifter a um tempo ja ;)

  • May I have your Les Paul?

  • Just wanna thank you for uploading this, a great way to learn the songs without any guitar tab program!

  • Just wanna thank you for uploading this video, this is defenitely the best way to show off how a song is played, Have had problems learning from youtube before but i managed to teach it to me in 20 min.

    Thanks alot =)

  • Really pleased this clip helped you - I learnt this song by trying to guess what other youtubers were playing...... so thought I'd share it !

  • very good video,

I finally found the right tabs for the verse now. :)

  • very good video,

i finally found the right tabs for the verse now. Thank you :)

  • Thanks! Like your Rc-2 clip - I've just got one too.

  • Thanks. I'm sure you are going to like it, it's a awesome pedal.

  • hey man im new at guitar and my question to you is i have pretty baic amp where i cant control my distortion by using my feet for a pedal. does the pod 3x live allow you to control the distorion and can you tell me what amp you have cause i want to buy a new one

  • Yes the Pod X3 Live allows you to control effects using footswitches. I don't have an amp - I just have the X3 plugged into my PC.

  • @robdavidson2105 thanks so that means this effect pedal has distortion and all but i dont know how much to use or what

  • Could you please send me the patches for the POD X3 Live? I would greatly appreciate it. Learning a lot from your vids. Thanks in advance.

  • no probs - link on the way.

  • could you send me the patches for the pod x3 live? tones sound good

  • thanks, i've emailed you the link.

  • Thank you very much for posting this. For what ever reason this was the most pain in the ass part of the song for me to learn and none of the tabs I've seen are correct. One guy named Mike from New York does a tutorial here on youtube of the live version but it varies from bar to bar. I just wanted to learn studio version. Thanks again.

  • Thanks - just checked out your channel - you should post a cover of Beautiful Day - you'd nail it !

  • what guitar are you using? :3

  • its a Tokai "Love Rock" - its my son's guitar.

  • can someone explain me how can i play the tabs what i have to look at ...???

  • @radu270597 - okay, you see the EADGBE on the left. That is the strings looking at the neck top to bottom. E being the lowest string, A being the second lowest all the way to the top E (or high E) The numbers represent what fret you are going to play. For example 0-0-0-2-3-2 is an open D chord. The top 3 strings you play open, the 2nd fret on the G string, 3rd fret on B string and 2nd fret on high E string. The finger placement varies from player to player.

  • thank you very much ,that realy helped me

  • What do you use to change the tone?

  • I'm using a Pod X3 Live which has 4 footswitches you can use to switch between 4 tones. Have a look on Line6 website - its a great bit of kit - especially if you don't have an AC30.

  • Please... U2 - Out of Control, you play with guitar tutorial + tabs?

    Congratulations !!!

  • Hi, Out of Control is on my list - in the meantime, check Wildmorphlaw for his tutorial of Out of Control - he's good !

  • best tab ever!! any chances to get a patch or the right presets ? I can't get close enough

  • thanks - do you have a pod x3? if so I'll email you the l6t file.

  • I have a tonelab le but I guess I can run the pod software and transcribe the settings

  • loved the way u had the tabs in the corner while u played it.....very well published video...5/5

  • Thanks for the nice comment and rating !

  • You are the only one with tabs!

    Thanks mate! great job!

  • Wow very nice, this will help me alot ;)

  • glad you like it!

  • hi rob if u are looking for shimmer the l6 Verbzilla wud be Great but i dont wna spend 150 euro on something for just shimmer so im getting a behringer rv600 wich is 55 euro so thats probabbly a better option

  • I can already play this, but your the only person who does a proper tutorial with notes and tabs!!!! Well done!!! ( I don't have a pitch shifter though!!!) Do you know a program that you could shift a guitar part with, just untill i can get a Digitech Whammy??!! Cheers, Matt.

  • hiya, 'fraid I don't know of any pitch shifting software - keep saving up !

  • @robdavidson2105- Thanks, Matt.

  • there is a programme called guitar port and it has delay distorsion over drive a pitch shifter every thing u need but it goes in to u com puter but a lead comes in with it that u can plug into ur guitar then into ur computer its brilliant u should look it up on the internet

  • @McGreevy545- Thank you alot, seriously!!!! Matt.

  • Thanks Rob I am at my work but are you sure that Beautiful Day and Ultraiolet are in that zip file ? I am doing your lessons but just on those I fail to get the tone that u do seem to have there:)

  • Hi, I've realised that my FTP directory hasn't synchronised for a while. I've copied the more recent tones into folder - if you try the link again they should be there now.

  • Thanks again mate for the patches that realy helps. Its a pitty that the Verbzilla is not included in the X3 dont you think? However its nice that you can control it with the volume/tweak pedal of the X3 he?

  • No problem, yes its a pity there isn't a good shimmer effect in the Pod. I've been looking at the new M9 - that seems to have everything a POD does AND the Verbzilla Octo effect - not an amp sim though - and i only have practise amp.

  • Hi Rob thanks for the tabs;excellent stuff and please send me your link to your patches if you like; just bought a X3 also based on your vids:) Also made some myself so perhaps you would like to compare:))

  • Thanks - the link is on the way to you.

  • i wonder if you can just use power chords for the chorus. cause i fail at those chords you play. i dont have strong hands

  • Yes - power chords would work fine there - just hit the first two strings - or 3 strings if you can.

  • are u using x3l for the pitch shifter thing? if so whaat is that modulation and whats it called and ur settings Thanks :D lol

  • Its called the "Bender" effect - I'll send you a link to the settings.

    Rob

  • hey im planning on getting eletric guitar soon im beginner i have know knowledge on settings for the sound do you use separate machienes for each settings or do you use one sound processor that has many settings you can choose and costume by they way your awesome man love your playing. Do until the end of the world and try acrobat if u can just suggestion please tell me if u can about settings

  • Hi, all the sounds for this clip are from the Line6 POD X3 Live which allows you to chain several effects in series and switch them on and off via pedal switches - have a look on the Line6 website - its a great piece of kit ..... and it can connect via USB to a PC or Mac so you can records straight into your PC.

  • Nice guitar is it a Gibson or epi. thanks for the vid. the tabs are spot on. no flaws atall id rate it higher than 5 but thats as high as it goes :( cheers

  • Hi, its my son's guitar - its a Tokai brand "Love Rock" model - was about £300 I think - thanks for the rating !

  • in the time I learned 4 whole songs of you thank verry verry much(also for the backing tracks, they work perfect)

    Guido

  • AMAZING JOB! thank you for the tabs... this is PERFECT to use to learn!!!

  • Thanks - have fun - I'll look out for your posts !

  • Thanks

  • Thanks for sending me the effect but im not what you'd call a whiz with effects i bought my X3 but i didnt know you could connect it to the computer. Can you download new tones and effects or make you own ore something?

  • Yes - connect your Pod via USB goto line6 home page download Line6 Monkey and Gearbox then you can control your Pod via your PC or Mac. Line6 Monkey is the updater software, and Gearbox gives you a visual way to control the POD. Also lets you load .l6t files you find off the internet !

    Good luck.

    Rob

  • One more thing (sorry about all the comments) i cant find bender on my Pod. Is it only on Pod X3 Live because i only have a Pod X3?

  • Not sure if X3 Live files work on an X3. But there's a definitely a Bender effect on the X3 as well as the X3 Live. Its called Line6 Bender Pitch Effect.

  • Did you use Where streets have no name patch for the rest of it?

  • No, I made up my own patch which started off as just an AC30 amp sim, then added effects and delays. I'll send you a link to my X3 Live files.

  • What do you mean by a patch for the pod because im struggling to find an effect for the pitch shift section.

  • hi, used the bender mod effect on the pod - its not v. good tho'

  • Thanks

  • heee

one question do you use a plectrum when you play the songs?

  • Hi, yes I use a plectrum - you can just about see when I flick it away at 4:07 when I start plucking the strings for the outro. Some people can hold the pick in their first finger whilst using their middle, ring and little fingers - I can't so I chucked it away !

  • cool post more:-)

  • will do !

  • Thanks for the rating.

  • very cool, thanks for the tabs
