Fallout 3 does not beat it's 2D prequels. What is wrong with 3D games is they are generally the same game with different skins, plots, etc., but with 2D games there was a lot left to the imagination, which is why there is such nostalgia with classic 2D games; people felt they created a life, another world with those games, and in fact they did! If you got what looked like a crappy 2D game but gave it a chance, you could bond with it in a way you couldn't with a detailed 3D world walk-through.

@offyam not true, at least i dont agree, 2d games can be great but in a good 3d game (not all of them are good) you can really get into the story more, in fallout three i was not playing as the vault dweller roaming the wastelands, i WAS exploring the inmense world myself, and it really depends which game youre talking about becouse some 2d games have more heart than some 3d games, but it also works the other way around
