The chorus is talking about rednecks that listen to nirvana but don't even know what they actually stand for. Figuring this came out before nirvana was even mainstream isweird concept unless hes talking about the loggers of his community that listened to "grunge" bands. And kurt mentions a gun as if its a sign of being "hillbilly" but one should know kurt loved guns.
