I was shown a much longer verion of this vid in artillery school. The operator struck by the breach died on scene, it was a misfire, not  "slamming the hatch too hard"

again this is not a misfire! he slammed the the rear hatch to hard. these shells are very sensitive and it went off on him. a misfire is when the firing pin hits the back of the round and nothing happens. this guy learned the hard way..lol

He shouldn't have been standing behind it. When loading a cannon you stand to the side just in case this happens. what happened here was the gun misfired. Had the loader been stand off to the side everything would've been fine. Instead, this guy took a howitzer right in the nuts. Live and learn, my friend. Live and learn.

Well i dont run in an artillery unit but i do know that for one when loading the the round you never ever stand behind it your supose to be on the sides . And also the cannon is not supose to fire untill the gunner pulls the fireing switch so it was a 50-50 both the gun and the kids fault , just wrong place wrong time ^_^

The case didn't eject into him, that gun is designed to recoil like that, I'm sure that it was the operators fault (either he was standing in the wrong position or he pushed the shell in a way he wasn't supposed to. Not 100% sure and I don't claim to know a lot about it.
