Mein liebster Jan, last night you wanted me to sing something before you fell asleep. Get out the boat anytime... I will bring the ukelele and sing you this. <3
Thank you so much for posting this clip ( as well as Van's great dance solo )!! I love this scene and the song too. Wish I could go on a canoe outing like that! Shadfour is right, his dancing resembles Ray Bolger's but I think Bobby himself reminds me more of Eddie Bracken or Alan Young.
wow, i didn't know that dobie gillis was a film prior to the television show! as usually, debbie is amazing, and bobby van and his ukelele of course make the scene all the more wonderful! how ironic that she reprises a song from one of the most successful musicals in movie history. what a lucky gal!
How cute - what an innocent time - today, show business is a horror and we make stars out of freaks ~ back then, a celebrity had to sing, dance, act, have comic timing and charm. This movie was waay before my time but I wish we could go back to those days. Why isn't this movie available on DVD?
erinchen, meine liebste!

Bobby Van and Ray Bolger resemble each other. Than Bobby fixed his nose,
He still had the dancing technic of Ray Bolger.
Loved his talent. How sad he died so young.
