This is a sample tune written by the Toto boys and originally was a way for Jeff Porcaro to display and sample cymbals for a Modern Drummer issue. I have the vinyl sampler that it came on...Gavin does it justice

I think its paradiddles on the hi-hat but he moves the single R and L strokes onto the chimes or snare etc. Thats just a guess though.

Seems more like double paradiddles. It could just be different combinations of single and double strokes accented in various places and thrown all over the kit. He would do that.
