Used to think that PG was the biggest bore of them all, technique exercises with tons of gain and reverb. Amazing how much his playing has changed, for the better IMO. Lots of groove and attitude nowadays.
@vilseipankakan I had, and have, pretty much the same opinion. Gilbert/Mr. Big/Racer X didn't interest me at all -- but I can't get enough of Gilbert's recent solo work. In addition to the still-amazing technique and VASTLY improved melodic sense as an improviser, he's a hell of a songwriter. He's also witty and a lot of fun.
