  • great groove wonderful, guitar player!

  • epic

  • @PLimaFerro The first song is a genre called Western Swing. The syncopated rhythm is swing, and of course you hear the country feel. It's an awesome genre with all kinds of this stuff.

  • what style of music is this?country+jazz...?excuse the ignorance!=)

  • who in the hell has the only dislike.....? fukkin tool

  • @mojostudio

There is no other possible reason other than he intended to hit the 'like' button and missed.

    There is no other explanation...

  • genius!!

  • one of the best country guitarist ever

  • hot damn

  • totally agree with aroxon

  • His playing style is EPIC!!!

  • Brent is the best at this stuff, but he couldn't do it without Randy. Best drummer in Nashville!

  • My favourite bit is where he fluffs a couple of licks, purely cos it shows the guy is never playing within his comfort zone. I love that, when a player isn't afraid to hit the odd bumnote cos its all about playing the best and getting better.

  • Brent plays some of the tastiest lines of all time...total ear candy..

  • A pleasure to hear a true genius of guitar. Jimmy Bryant, Hank Garland, George Benson, Danny Gatton - put in a mixer and stir. Serve with thumbpick and creative musical mind.

  • i'm veery interested on what are his pickups configuration. anyone knows??? and is that clean sound just from his amp?

  • Brent Mason is not human! He's from Planet Masonite!!

  • my god..... what a player

  • Thanks for those fantastic uploads. One of the best video material on Brent at youtube. Sounds awesome with only two guitars!

  • If I could play like Randy I'd be happy.

  • I just can't seem to get enough of this. Thanks Gibson.

  • énormeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yeeeeeaaaaaa very very good

  • anyone know the name of the first tune?

  • @MattRodMusicVids swing with a sting i believe

  • @MattRodMusicVids Yeah elijahtiner is right.

  • @MattRodMusicVids yes, swing with a sting!

  • Can anyone tell what amp he is using and if it is similar in sound to the Epiphone Blues Custom 30 (it kinda looks like that but it's not).

  • I see brent was born in 1959. Looks well for that age. He doesn't look that old at all. Kick ass player!

  • funny that a guy that plays mostly Fenders is at a Gibson workshop, but hey, they got him going through an Epi amp, so good enough, right? Any excuse to hear this god of Nashville guitar play!

  • Brent's right LA does have great music

  • Love this guy. Such clean chops, he's got this Benson like Jazz sound too him but he mixes it with the Gatton sort of country twang and some blues, all played so effortlesly.

  • Strat and Gibson L6S for sale. LOL Can't move my fingers that fast. Awesome!!!!

  • This is better than G3.

  • cojonudo!!!

  • a freakin' monster !!!

  • he is a freaking beast!

  • That's cool that he is having is brother play rhythm. Even before he introduced him as his brother, I had actually thought the 2nd guitarist had great rhythm and was really adding to the song with his strong chops.

  • Beautiful video, such great music -- and great personalities. The Mason brothers say it all.

  • he's amazing, a shame hes not better known

  • That comping guy (RANDY!!!!!!!!)makes it happen' he's worth his weight in gold TOO GOOD!

  • so if he is endorsed by gibson, i wonder if he can still play his original #1 on sessions and live gigs?

  • YIKES!! JAW DROPPING! And you're right.. I think Gatton is smiling watching this.

  • a follower of danny gatton.

  • What a killer guitarist.

Truly a master of his instrument.

  • his style, along with such technique, yet still often so much melody...awesome, what more can i say?

  • modern django..if you know what I mean.

  • Thanks for posting these videos. Always looking for the next Danny Gaton and I may have found him...:)

  • WOW !!! what a guitarist !

  • It sounds just like Mafia 1 soundtrack :D

  • i'd like to see brent mason and jack pearson play together, you know. it seems like a good combination. i think it would be great to see those two masters just jam.

  • HOLY SMOKIN! Brent Mason can't be human.

  • i said it on here a long time ago. brent and scotty together. super. i bet it would sell to guitar lovers. sponsored by viagra and hooters.

  • its amazing how some people can distinguish between the genius of Scotty Anderson and Brent Mason. NOBODY is better than the other AT THIS LEVEL. Different...sure. Both are God-like.

    no mistakes.

  • Chet

  • How dare Valley Arts have Brent play a custom guitar that is special order only...that sucks(LOL)Reminds me of the Carlton that issued in the 90's....ooh well

  • I just posted a Powertab of this live version of 'Swing With A Sting' at Countrytabs.

  • Personally, I love Scotty Anderson BUT, I think Brent plays A LOT more tasteful. That's why I prefer Brent over Scotty, Brent plays with more soul.

  • BM swings and plays with soul, even his fast stuff. That's the dif between him an other "country" players. I really dig his playing.

  • He's a great guitarist, but Scotty Anderson appears to be "the man" among thumbpickers.

  • Modes9 I'm not knockin you for giving it to Scotty, he is one of my favorites too. But, upper echelon players like Scotty, Brent, Danny, Jerry Donahue, Albert Lee, Jerry Douglas, Mark O'Connor etc.. needn't be compared or rated. They are all " The Man " thumbpick or not, and each brings something original to the table. I'm going to listen to all of them, 'cause they are all great.

  • Well said.

  • @aroxon can you give me a list of great guitarists that play this style it would be most helpful , thanx alot :)

  • @guitarsalert that's quite a list right there, no?

  • @aroxon umm kinda , whats the last name of those ladds listed at the beginning

  • Scotty´s got slightly better technique I think

but they are different Scotty Aderson is no Brent Mason and Brent mason is no Scotty Anderson

  • Man, I enjoyed that. There are enough licks for a lifetime to learn in those jams.

  • Bent mason is Amazing :D

  • The headstock on that valley arts is horrible. great playing though.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, that's the headstock shape that V.A. has used since the 80s... check out old videos of Steve Lukather (pre-EBMM) and Larry Carlton (coincidentally also session players) probably 2 of V.A.'s best known previous endorsers... before they went under and were resurrected by Gibson.

  • Love to see Brent playing.

    Great guitarist.

We're just missing live music like this in Switzerland :-)

  • I love the melodic minor parts

    nice

    hehe

  • is that a Gibson tele?

  • No. heh. heh. heh. It's a Valley Arts Brent Mason guitar.

  • valley arts is a daughter of gibson

  • Lol.. this was posted from Gibson, and he is definately playing a tele.

  • Its a Valley Arts BM signature tele. Valley Arts is owned by Gibson. It only takes a quick google search to figure that out. The irony is you were trying to be clever and in return ended up sounding like an idiot.

  • hmm, I stand corrected, I never knew that Gibson had any rights to any telecaster products. you learn something new every day.

  • It is my understanding that as long as you do not use Fender trademarked terms like "tele" or "telecaster" and change the headstock shape, there are no rights infringements that Fender can pursue. Although, if they were smart they would have produced a Brent Mason signature guitar long before Valley Arts could grab him up.

  • Very good Soloist you owned that guy I refreshing to find a another well informed guitar player

  • And.... Brett plays Gibson amps...

    Or in this case Epiphone

  • i absolutely love it! such a great guitar playing!

  • I love that little twang he puts on the d/f# chord! This is some of the finest playing I've ever seen in my life, kudos to you Brent.

  • brent doesnt have NEARLY enough tuition material...man hes good!

  • hey, check out 0:00-9:03.....

  • ha ha ha! :) very funny.. I agree!

  • @kuntreefan08

    hey, check out 0:00-9:04;-)

  • @stevie128 i had to watch this video again just to remind myself why i should just put down my guitar forever!

  • @kuntreefan08 No brother, it's the reason you picked it up in the first place. This is genius but you"ll create a bit of your own.

  • the lick on 1:59 is ridiculous

  • wow, that's guitar playing

  • That first song they play sounds like Gypsy Jazz, but it's cool to hear it being played on something other than a Selmer copy for a change!

  • that first song is called swing with a sting

  • Gypsy Jazz? Haha that's a interesting perception of Swing with a Sting :-P

  • Well, listen to some Gypsy Jazz and then listen to this... they're almost exactly the same!

  • ok. who is a respected artist in the genre of Gypsy Jazz?

  • Django Reinhard, The Rosenberg Trio... Just look up Gypsy Jazz and click on any song that has "Swing" in the title.

  • And off course Stochelo Rosenberg. Those two are my favourites!

  • Briantoth you rule! A true guitar geek;o) Thank you, you rock!

  • i think its a Valley Arts costumize guitar

  • It's a Duncan Hot Stack wired in single coil mode.

  • Sweet.

  • Wow, the Gibson Telecaster. Kinda like the Fender Toronado....which was kinda like a Fender Les Paul.

  • Actually the Fender Toronado had the body shape of Jaguar-Jazzmasters; the only signifigant similarities between it and a Les Paul are two humbuckers. But yeah, a Gibson tele.

  • thats amazing!!! honestly!

  • a tele on a vid posted by Gibson

  • its not a tele

  • It a Valley Arts Brent Mason model..Valleys Arts is owned by Gibson.

  • oh my computer was going slow so i only saw the body shape

  • Is that a joe barden in the middle?
