  • The house he was living in Tourmakeady Ireland is next door to where my Grandparents house is. At the very top of the road before the drive into the house Robert passed away there after he was driving with his wife when they were returning home he felt unwell and told her to drive down to the house and that he would walk down after her, but he didn't he suffered a heart attack and died. The house is beautiful and is built beside a lake. The house is currently owned by a wealthy company man.

  • @Horan28 what is a company man? Long Live Robert!

  • @woody7141 Its a man who owns a company. Like a business.

  • I love him, what a bloke x

  • Put it this way, Robert Redford and Paul Newman had to fight hard to share the same screen with Robert Shaw... That PRESENCE!

  • Roots in Ireland ? More accuarately he is planted in Ireland .

  • ya falla?

  • RIP Robert Shaw, I miss him very much.

  • Amazing actor. Gone way too soon.

  • So according to the narrator , Shaw died twice in 1975 and again in 1978.

Perhaps the narrator also thinks that Shaw was actually killed and eaten by a REAL shark and then went on to make a few more films.

  • So according to the narrator , Shaw died twice in 1975 and again in 1978.

  • I think a lot of posters have misheard the narrator saying Shaw died in 1975; he said Mary Ure died then, with Shaw's death in 1978

  • @gannnad24 The narrator said "His Death in 1975" and then said "Robert Shaw died of a massive Heart attack in 1978 aged just 51". If you listen closely you will hear that he said "His Death" not "Her Death.

  • He wasn't with us for long enough, yet he shone brightly.

  • Impressive too that he managed to die suddenly in 1975 then have a massive heart attack in 1978.

  • There will be no other!

  • robert was my grandmas cousin :)

  • @brystonprince That's very cool. My favorite roll he played was "Quint" in Jaws. He was unbelievable! I seriously quote him daily from that movie.

  • I thought he died on the street i was told he had chest pains and decided to walk and when he walked about five steps he then had a heart attack on the street and died before the ambulance arrived or just after the ambulance arrived.

  • this random vid is one day before my b day ( december 15)

  • Yes he was

  • is it just me or did both of the best scenes in hollywwod history go down in the 70's ? .............robert shaw "uss indianapolis" and robert duvall "i love the smell of napalm in the morning" jaws/apocalpse now respectively...if by chance u read this and have not seen 1 or the other or maybe even both? why u still reading this i ask ? man o man, i wish i could watch either one again for the first time....

  • one of the most underrated actors of all time!

  • I second the poster who asked if you were drunk when you compiled this. The Sting was in 1973 yet you say he "went on" to make films in '63 and '67. And apparently he died in both 1975 and 1978? Sheesh!

  • Loved him in The Deep, Jaws, Black Sunday and, of course, From Russia with Love.

  • The only link Robert Shaw had to Ireland is that he lived in Galway which is in the Republic................great actor ridiculous tribute

  • @dogpile69 buried in roselawn cemetary in belfast

  • @rareirish

    cremated actually

  • Robert Shaw was a great actor

  • your, rather thn 'you're'...just like one says film rather than filum...

  • What fucking crap! All you're dates are wrong and mixed up. Do some more research, please. There are a few biographies of the man which will inform you better (idiotic comments like 'large estate in mayo' - it was a biggish house, with a few acres). You say he died in 1975 (sudden death), then you say he died in 1978 (which is correct). Were you drunk when you put this together? And he was already a very highly paid actor, with a few leading roles, before The Sting. Irritating inaccuracy.

  • MY GREAT GRAND PARENTS, WERE BORN IN COUNTY MAYO, IRELAND.

  • ROBERT SHAW, IS A LEGEND.

  • he plays the best henchmen ever

  • Robert shaw has no roots whatsoever in Norhthern Ireland. He's from Westhoughton in England.

  • favourite actor of all time along with tony hopkins!

  • "roots in Northern Ireland"? I thought he was born in Lancashire and grew up in England and Scotland. I know he lived in NI later in life, but "roots"........?

  • You can have your Brad Pitts and Tom Cruises or anyone else but they don't come as close to Robert Shaw!! Now he WAS a REAL man. Fine actor/writer. Just superb.

  • now this was an era of REAL actors, when it had soul and purpose. He was a handsome man with all the talent that is missing from these cokehead stars. What do you think?

  • Robert Shaw was a grate actor and a gifted man. August 9, 1927 - August 28, 1978

  • Robert Shaw was the brother of my English professor in college. I had seen him in things beofre, of course, but after that piece of information, I always felt a bit of a connection to him.

  • . @ROBERT @SHAW The greatest! He @EATS these young sissy punk "Actors" of today!

  • my first crush ever, Robert Shaw. Thats one thing i will never forget him being my first crush.

  • The days of Dan Tempest are a long time ago.

  • I wouldn't call his Stanley in THE BIRTHDAY PARTY (1969) a supporting part.

  • Robert Shaw you've been gone too long.
