I could even leave molds of my frowning face on people's doorsteps as calling cards - write on the back, "You weren't home. I was really bummed."

you can really get them anywhere the ones i used at this time came in big sheets that we had to cut down into strips.

I have the cast molding of a monster's face. We did get to sell some masks. We sold to neighborhood kids at $15 a pop.

did one years ago with a friend. I paid for materials and was also used as guinea pig for the making of cast. I was only one wit balls and not claustrophobic to do this. Anyways, we parted ways under bad term and looking for info on where I can sell my cast. Don't have pics of finished product but I have the cast molding. Would appreciate da info. Thank you.

You'd probably want to put vaseline or something on body hair that can't be hidden. Then the mask comes of easier.

@lando546 I've seen lifecasting done with the eyes and mouth open which is a tricky process as each section is done separately then dissolved to join to the rest of the face or head.

Do you need to wet the plaster strips then stick them on the alginate? or do you just stick them on dry to the alginate? wat did u do here? cheers, mark

Plaster always has to be wet.... otherwise it would fall off... you can't even form it when it's dry...

you wet the plaster bandages and place them on the alginate, the plaster bandages dry pretty fast

@fearswitchvideos ok so this is a YEAR after you commented on this vid but I couldnt help myself!!!!!! You have to wet the plaster strips when applying to alginate cuz if you wait for the moisture from the alginate to soak into the plas strips then you have a chance of breakage and a LOT less flexibility with dry plas strips than when theyre dry! I hope that helps even a year later! >,<'

Next time set the camera down on a table and aim it at the person, don't let someone hold it because you'll just end up with annoying camera shaking when you go to speed it up. Setting it down and speeding it up will prevent the shaking.

ive just finnished my mask i did put plaster bandage on my face then heavely brusehd it over wit latex and then paited it

realy cool effect also give the inside a thin layer of latex just for toughnes and comfort for the face a verry nice efect as ended

Just a suggestion--instead of smearing the alginate over the skin, if you just pour it on the top and let it run down the face, you'll get a lot fewer air pockets. It becomes a process of scooping up the excess from the neck area and placing it on the top again. I noticed you had several in your plaster positive.

well first the yellow stuff is alginate the white stuff after that was plaster strips and then the stuff that was pored into the face at the very end was also plaster

well first i wold get 2 other people to help u if u are going to make it your self. and you have to put vaseline on any hair including you eyelashes cause they stuff you put on your face is called alginate and it will rip off any hair it touches. then the cloth is just plaster bandages to help the alginate keep its form and we pore in plaster that you can bake.

How long does it take for the mask to dry?

the alginate once finished being put on takes about 5-10min to firm up and the plaster bandages take about 5-10min to dry and firm and the plaster that is put in the mold takes about 6-8 hours to dry but it is best to leave it over night just to make sure.
