  • Might just be the best version.

    Rodney. One talented dude.

  • @beatsbooze I never knew that Rodney was such a good singer and that he was once

    married to Rosanne Cash.

  • @freba91 Rodney's a great singer & a helluva musician. Admired by all his peers. I've heard Vince Gill talking about his talent.

  • Real Country music....."Sheer poetry" as dad would say....

  • eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww OLD PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bongomadness96 Don't sweat it kid, You're bound to croak early & avoid all the creaky old wrinklers.

  • This is just magic. Thanks

  • No one can sit on top of a song the way Rodney Crowell does!!

  • Excellent

  • Love it....Always special when Emmylou adds her angelic voice

  • Good version of the song--gotta love live performances.

  • Sooo lovely

  • Old Hank Snow song....Emmy and Rodney do it great!!!

  • -Wonderful!

  • So brilliant. I love em both....Oooo and that Emmylou

  • nice clip

  • nice... thanks!

  • I'd forgotten how good Rodney is, great picking !

  • I have seen them together and separately hundreds of times. They are magic. I remember them both well before their hair started turning gray. I always thought they should have gotten married. I saw Emmylou in Houston and Rodney's parents JW and Causette were there. If you didn't know who they were you wouldn't have known. They acted like they were her parents and she acyed like she was their daugter. They really are something together.

  • Both of these singers carved their own niche in country music, by having a style of their own.The one thing that both have done along the way is to bring up alot of the old songs to pay tribute to the people that got them where they are today.Good Job Emmy and Rodney!!

  • @BCRification Somehing todays " country " singers should take note of ... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > paying tribute to the ones that came before !!

  • "I GOT IT.".......ROFL!

    GOOD SONG, GOOD PERFORMANCE!

  • I love them both. Enjoy this video a lot!

  • NO!!!! you've destroyed the song!!! ELVIS ONLY!

  • Nice groove. Great tone on R's git.

  • so great to see such beautiful smiles upon there faces. lord knows they have both giving us many many smiles over the last 30 years Rodney said he fell in love with Emmy when he started to play with her in the hot band and still loves her. who couldn't help but love this angel...too bad she lost the love of her life when she lost Gram..oh what might of been for Emmy and the world. he did give us a lot in the few years he had just replay this song and listen close you will know what I am saying.

  • If I recall, he did it another time while appearing on the Opry and said he thought he deserved an extra round of applause for having the guts to sing it with Hank Snow in the building, since Snow had the original hit on it (I believe before Elvis). He got the applause, and he deserved it. Great stuff! Thanks for posting.

  • Fine rendition of an old song.

  • Hey... that was Super Nice... loved it!

  • two of my all time favourites

  • When I can find this number / I take my guitar and play ,in met Emmylou and Rodnney in keys of d - fm2 - g-e-a-b7-d7. greatings Johnny Cruise [Jan Kruis]

  • This is great replete with Buddy Miller. Joy!

  • Oh My Gosh! I could listen to Rodney all day long.

This is music! Long Live the Grand Ole Opry

  • Good song. thanks very much for posting.

  • Should have said makes me laugh and cry (not dry) LOL

  • I get so emotional every time I play this video. I laugh and dry at the same time. I had a small band years ago, and our playing was always fun. This seems just so spontaneous it just wrenches my guts. I love it!

  • They look like they are having fun with this song. That's the way music should be!!

  • When you see the WSM radio station letters, you know you're watching the Grand Ole Opry...

  • Whats the name on that guitar ?

  • Fenix by young chang

  • great to see this again - THANKS. I remember when this aired. Rodney had said he always dreamed of singing this on the Opry.

  • I love love love this song. I first heard it by Hank Snow, who plays the guitar in his version, too and I fell in love with the song. To me, this is one of the golden classics that will never grow too old and has been and will always be sung by artists who like the quality that this song has. Rodney and Emmylou sound good together here at The Opry. Thank you for posting. - Paula

  • very nice :)

  • Is this on the grand ole opry?

  • Yes, the grand ole opry in opryland. Beautiful ! ! !

  • I just love this clip! I lalugh out loud everytime I play it. I love Rodney and Emmylou together. THEY ARE GREAT!!!!!

  • Nicely done, but Hank Snow's version is the difinitive one for me. (Hank Snow, who's he?)

  • your sooo right,,!!! its nice to know ya'll are out there!!! props, irelephant,,,,,

  • Rodney Crowell is one helluva talent!

  • Thank you - didn't know much about R. Crowell- will listen to more now.

  • Welcome to the RC fan club--he is one of the most talented people in country music. He prodouced most of Roseanne Cash's hits.

  • Lovely song and a great couple. Thanks a lot for this jewel.

  • how true this song is- and they do it nice

  • They look so comfortable singing together...Of course,Rodney did play in the Hot Band with her for a while.

  • very nice.

    thank you

  • What a great track - pure gold!

  • Hey folks, this pair sounds pretty good!!

  • I do not think I have heard them together before but they should team up more often. Of course, Emmylou has teamed up with about everyone that can sing. *****. Thanks to BC for sharing.

  • Brilliant, just like country music must sound.

  • I agree with you.

  • I love Emmylou harris she has never sung a bad song and I really like her with Rodney, almost as much as I loved her with Gram Parsons.

  • I've only recently discovered RC and am only a part time country fan, but wow what a song writing genius!

  • I have always loved both of them, this is great

  • Yes, this is a gem, thanks for posting.

This is the Ryman, what show?

  • I just want to get this vid to play all the way thru just once. Must be this internet connection or my Vista.

Doesn't get any better, RC and Emmylou.

  • What wonderful performance by Rodney and Emmylou. And that band....incredible!!!!

Buddy Harman's beat just makes it all swing so well.

Anyone know who the bass player is? He's right on the money too.

  • Unforanatly I can't see the bass player in the video. My guess is he's a sub for opry staff bass player Billy Linneman. Also from the opry is fiddler Joe Edwards.

  • Drummer Buddy Harmon wow!!! The rhythm section is amazing. Buddy played on more hits during the 1950's-70's than anyone I know. He's a true hero of mine. I played drums for Rodney on a couple of shows, and he's as nice a guy as you'll ever meet. Thanks for posting.

  • i love jim reeves version, but this equals it.

  • Two of my favorite performers. Rodney's song Ain't Living Long Like This, (a duet video version with Waylon Jennings) remains one of my personal top five vids,,, period. Had the privedge and pleasure of shooting Rodeny here in Nashville for Billy Block 103.3 WKDF radio. Emmylou is a gifted performer...Love her in The Band's Last Waltz Scorcese film doing "Evangeline". Exzcellent upload...

  • Wonderful. This looks like the only Opry show I have ever been at(July 1999). Buddy & Julie Miller also played as did June Carter Cash. Thanks for posting.

    Ian

  • This is a gem, this must be about 8 years old? am I right? thanks for posting Ally
