Bands competing with each other is totally against the spirit of punk rock. Rancid and The Clash, mutual respect all round. Stop the fucking comparisons, appreciate them both and start using your energies for things that are worthwhile like fighting racism, poverty etc.

well,, punk was and still is one of my greatest influences,, I just can't understand why people see punk and other type of music as a invention,, well i find music a way of cultural expression and a personal way to expres your self,, Joe (Wody) Strummer and Tim (Lint) Armrstrong listen to very different bands and they both played punk for very different reasons. Joe Strummer didnt started playing punk. He played Rock and Roll,,
Joe strummer didnt become a punk,, He hasnt become a rocker he was just still himself,, he just kept expressing himself with songs like White Riot, Go Straight to Hell Boy, Rock The Cashaba and many moere songs. Listen to them. Rancid is a great band but has nothing to do with The Clash
well yes,, tell me something i dont know,, ok i used to be a Huge fan of Operation Ivy and a big fan Tim an Matt,, Then i began to listen to other punk bands then brittish punk bands,, and artist that later began to play different genres then punk and then the bands that they used to listen to,, so i know Tim is a great man but he doesnt share the same 0passion for music as (John Graham)(Wody)Joe Strummer. Rancid must be good but they are not the Clash. Look up The 101ners on youtube

Rancid is an appropriate name - they stink...you cant compare Rancid and the Clash - that's ridiculous. Rancid are a punk cover band, period.
