  • Good job...

  • Very nice playing! I noticed that you sometimes play accents on the woodblock other then the clave. I think the bells are better for this sort of thing and would only use the woodblock for the clave.

  • hey man im in australia, but my dads from ecuador.

  • VIVA ECUADOR. love from los angeles

  • capo!

  • Very good drummer, but... Do you know clave? It is what you usually have to do on your pink block.

Clave used to be the strut of timbales solos. Listen to timba style music players, and remember this little sentence one of my profs told me : "before to create your own style in music, you have to master the style that other persons made BEFORE you, because they have been thought the music they played MORE than you did for the now. It is what we called experience."

If you don't agree, wait and see

  • hey, ummm yes of course i know the clave, this little clip isnt the entire essence of my playing and knowledge, ive studied countless timba drummers and its becuase of this i choose my own style, do i know clave?? how would that clip be possible without knowing clave? im not arguing with you why would you say "if you dont agree"?

  • To be honest with you domkirk, I have a feeling that shiftcode1 is being a little too critical and rather bitter from what it seems. I've been playing afro-cuban perc. since I was 13. And if what your playing is not tied into the clave(according to shiftcode1) then I've been learning wrong all along as well. Its good to give a push in the right direction but not at the expense of being wrong such as in the comment shiftcode made. Its called playing around the rumba clave. Plain and simple.

  • thank you very much congapraise. Dom

  • Hi congapraise, I'm not bitter, but just mis-understood what I heard. After re-listening, I hear the rumba clave, yes I do! Every click on the block is on the 3/2 rumba clave, except the eight note you make before the 2 section of the clave. But at the first listening (and the two others I made before commenting your performance), these thing are not so evident, I was confused of what I heard. Every experience count to learn more and more about improvisation.

After re-listening, great job, guy !

  • hey, thanks alot man. umm ive been playin timbales for about 2 years or so, but ive been playing drum kit for about 5 or 6 years so i got a bit of a head start on the timba thing lol. thanks alot for the nice comments.
