  • I had this game. The only chance you had was using the turbo buttons.

  • Its Easy to not be killed but its very hard to kill others with no items and not being killed

  • REMEMBER OLD TIMES :D!!!! I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME LIKE IN MY PAST :D

  • This game reminds me of Dino Riki

  • nes version is easy? ok douchebag who said that you do a speed run and post it on youtube

  • @yohatube I've played the arcade version, and while I wont say this NES version is easy, there is no question the NES version is lot easier. There is barely any enemies on screen - no doubt due to the NES hardware on-screen limitations. Compare the video to this one:

    /watch?v=ajspec33xWg&feature=related

In particular, note the number of normal enemies present with the 2nd boss. There's no contest. The 2nd boss in the NES version is also a bigger target with slower projectiles.

  • @RelVleDy Oh really? I have the Dendy version, where the enemies comes from no indication making impossible to react. I beated it. DAMN Chinese people, they ruined my childhood with this game.

  • so what if they are using a turbo... 1843!!!

  • gotta be using a turbo... no one can tap both A&B buttons together that fast...

  • Comment removed

  • Can someone tell me does PAL and USA version of this game sound same? Or does PAL version sound slower?

  • nes version is easier than the arcade version...

  • This game is the reason my thumbs are so crooked today

  • I beat this game once... P.I.T.A. ... big time.

  • this has to be using the cheats.

  • @rongravy What cheats?

  • @shincyriades ok maybe not but i meant the ones you can punch in at the title screen. btw, watching your video helped me a great deal, got alot farther. thanks.

  • i was 2 when i used to play this and could never make it passed the first level except i did accomplish it once havnt played this game in 10 14 years

  • Kick Ass...Ya Hear Me!

  • damn, i for one know that requires a lot of thumb stamina. unless hes using a turbo controller

  • that game is awesome.I remember how long I've been trying to beat the game when I was a kid and finaly did it,and my friends didn't believe me cuz all of them couldn't beat it.GJ for that run,so I have to ask you IS THERE A NES-EMULATOR WHO HAS TURBO BUTTONS :) Cuz I wanna try this again, but I think that without turbos,I'll be lost :j

  • This game is SO much better than Red Dead Redemption!

  • I think this is one of my top 3 nes games overall...

  • god i remember this! only those who played it can appreciate how good this run really is lol, my thumb used to get so sore that i'd just have to turn the game off and come back later. I can definitely see where a turbo controller would come in handy on this one ;)

    thanks for the nostalgia

  • put down the turbo controller and do it

  • Definitely looks and sounds like a turbo controller, and since it's not mentioned I'd assume turbo was used, otherwise it would say "regular controller." Not that turbo would make it easy, just easier and less tiring.

  • without items

  • After 12 years I was finally able to beat this game. It was so satisfying.

  • No items? Whats a cowboy without his trusty horse?

  • This game was this shit! I seem to remember a ninja being difficult. I played the fuck out of this gem.

  • did your thumbs blisters playing this?

  • If there's one thing I learned shopping for old nes games at flea markets is you can never go wrong with an old Capcom game.

  • Does this guy know he can pick up the dynamite before it explodes???

    Nice job too!

  • If video game logic has taught me anything, it is that one man can conquer a whole army of soldiers by himself.

  • And that is why Koei made the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors series to uphold that statement

  • That second guy, "Cutter"... I always thought he had 4 arms in that pic.

I guess they were trying to draw him as being super muscular or something, but the way they draw his shoulders, it always looked like he had 4 arms. Even looking at it now it still doesn't look right!

  • I remember when this title was launched way back. It was worth every dollar... holy shit I must've wore out 3 NES controllers over this game

  • Hahhaa,i remember this game as kid,me and my friend used to skip school to play this ,i love that music brings back so many memories...

  • who thinks this game should be on Virtual console? I do.

  • now try it without the turbo button. not so easy

  • its a hard game, but you can ease it if you have a pad with turbo buttons (or play via emulator)

  • i just added thisone to my western collection a month ago :)

  • Loved this game on Capcom Classics Collection. The music was amazing kinda like in games like Bionic Commando,Ghost'n'Goblins and MegaMan.I wanna track down an NES version though.

  • i love this game. theres no difference between machine gun and normal if you press fast enough hahaha. its more like hes got 2 spears and walks around stabbing people

  • this is by far the hardest game I have ever played. Even more challenging than megaman, ninja gaiden, and metroid.

  • I have to get this again for my NES this brought back some memories. Badass man your a machine.

  • I have this tape =)

  • XD remember everyone used to call them tapes. It was like second nature, parents, we as kids, everybody...even though they were cartridges.

  • I did the same thing, as well as anyone else I knew at the time. Anyone know how it got started? There was obviously no tape components to the cartridges, and I don't remember anyone ever referring to Atari cartridges as "tapes".

  • Commodore 64 had tapes, in between the "5.25 floppies and the C64 cartridges I believe. Maybe that's where it started

  • Problem with that theory is, most of those who referred to NES carts as tapes never even owned a computer.

  • idk, we called them cartridges in NY, I never knew anyone who called them a tape.

  • I grew up in Louisiana. Every person I knew called them "Nintendo tapes". We almost never referred to them as cartridges...

Same with Atari tapes. Its strange... I cant remember if we called them Super Nintendo Tapes or not... I do know around the 64 era we started calling them cartridges for some reason. Maybe because they didn't look like Nintendo tapes!!

  • I have this game but no NES..... : (

  • i have always liked the music in this game :)

  • oh and by the way this guy is a savv i always had game over on the comanchi level, and had to start allllll the way over again!

  • My older cousin grew up in the NES era and i came along a little later when the SNES was huge, and i remember going to his house and playing this with him and my brother. This game definitely takes me back! NES is still one of the best consoles ever created, mario bros, gunsmoke, excitebike, spy hunter, i could go on forever. lol i long for the golden age of video games, and being a kid, NES rocks!

  • 1 word..... EPIC!

  • this game sounds like CRYSTALIS or an RPG

  • The music in level 1 is epic

  • didn´t know they had machine guns in the wild west^^

  • or smart bombs...

  • I forgot, what is the point of the person with the exclamation point in the word balloons. It's been so long since I played this.

  • They sell you horses and better weapons. They charge pretty absurd prices considering you're already saving their lives and all.

  • Hahahahahahahaha!

  • I like this game very much when I was young......

  • man...i havent seen this game in years. heh, memories

  • are you using turbo?

  • I get this question a lot for some reason lol. No turbo tricks here, I am only using my thumbs, diesel420power.

Finger speed isn't much of a gaming skill in my view, but I've got it for what that's worth.

  • Thumbs of steel.

  • Bummer I wanted to see him kill the Boss at the end of Comanchi Village. I think I got to him once and could not defeat him. The level it's self is too hard and this is using Auto fire on Dreamcast NESTERDC. (NES Emulator on Dreamcast)

  • I never found him too difficult... the ninja stage however was flippin crazy... i eventually did beat the game on an emulator (no auto fire) on the PC... but I was able to save my place at the last boss and try mulitple times.

  • Does anyone else notice how the musical style of Gun Smoke is a sort of quasi-homage to Ennio Morricone's 'Dollar' trilogy?

  • 8:20 VERY close to getting hit...good job

  • Thanks! :)

Yeah, there were definitely a lot of close calls during this run (especially in the final level)!

Players are not expected to beat Gun.Smoke without ever getting hit, so I was very fortunate to have done so.

  • This is a great playthrough, and this is one of my favorit nes games.

You did a great job avoiding death, esspecially on Comanchi Village.

I hope i dont bother you, but im pretty new here on youtube, so would like you and everyone els to check out my Nes request video.

The viewers can choose wich game i should upload.

Im a girl,so i thought it could be cool with some female gamers on youtube.

    Great video once again!

  • Thank you, VampireKiller84, I am glad that you enjoyed the playthrough!

Sure, I have an NES game request for you. How about a hitless playthrough of Street Fighter 2010 The Final Fight?

If you aren't really into that game, then I would suggest recording a hitless playthrough of an NES game that has yet to be covered this way.

There are many speed runs on Youtube, but very few hitless playthroughs in comparison.

  • I have not been playing the Street Fighter game that much, just one time when i was checking the game out.

I guess i could try that some day.

I remember that it was quite difficult, but all games are hard at first.

I had some requests about both The Guardian Legend and Ninja Gaiden 3.

There are allready a hitless playthrough for The Guardian Legend, but i didn´t know that at first so i did a no hit playthrough on that game.

Im uploading the game right now.

  • Yeah, don't worry about Street Fighter 2010 The Final Fight, most people tend to dislike it.

That would be awesome if you could finish Ninja Gaiden 3 without getting hit, good luck!

  • But i dont think there is a no hit playthrough for Ninja Gaiden 3, im working on that game right now.

I hope that i might finish the playthrough today, and perhaps upload it today or tomorrow.

Do you like the Ninja Gaiden trilogy?

  • Yes, I am a big time fan of the Ninja Gaiden series on the NES and went so far as beating all three without dying, while only using the regular Dragon Sword, so yeah, I definitely love the original Ninja Gaiden trilogy :).

  • I dont know about everyone else here, but I was always able to beat this game pretty easily, the whole way through.

I mean I remember being 6 years old and playing it, and yelling at the screen cuz I couldn't get past the Comanchi stage...

But by the time I was in my teens I was doing the whole thing pretty easily. Probably could still do it.

  • Ah yes me too

  • i've NEVER seen this game beaten, so this is a real treat!

  • I got this game when i was like 5 years old and i still play it every now and again as it is one of my favourites. Also im really surprised that id find videos for this game since not many people have heard of it.

Ive beaten this game dozens of times without dying but i havent tried it without buying items yet. Nice work.

Back when i first got this game i couldnt figure out how to get past the first level, since i didnt know about the wanted posters. My mum ended up calling the hotline :)

  • what you mean by w/o item?

  • Read the description.

  • You = Awesome player.

I always used to die at least once in this stage, due to the enemies coming from the bottom of the screen.

  • THIS

is a piece of classic nes-game. One of my top three games overall.

  • Nice one mate

  • Thank you, Lasermannen, I'm glad that you appreciated this difficult run :)

  • did you use a turbopad? also this is another kind of twist you can put on it. since speed runs are determined by how fast the screen can scroll, try playing it without killing anyone except bosses. i tried and got bored of tryign to succeed.

  • its a turbo control

you knew it i knew it right away

  • No turbo controller was used, DucTTapE03. I am an extremely intense person and always give it my all without cheating.

I used the good old regular NES controller only. Sure it can be tough to keep your thumbs awake for so long, but it is possible. The small break between levels was enough to get the blood in my hands flowing properly.

  • Amen to that. I believe no turbo was used, because I can do the exact same thing. But damn, at the end of it, my hands are through! But if you're fast enough, it does look like rapid-fire...but I can see that it isn't.

  • Like I pointed out earlier, only a regular NES controller was used, chefkoo. A turbo controller would defeat the purpose of a no special weapons challenge. The whole point was to prove that this was possible without cheating.

Your killing bosses only challenge sounds cool, but would probably be way over the top. A without picking up any items challenge, except for the Wanted Posters, might make more sense.

  • damn i loved this game when i was a kid ^^. i was gonna buy this game now but its to expensive. =/

  • Whoops, just read the description and I'll give credit to DTysonator for cutting through all those Wingates like a hot knife through butter.

  • Thanks a ton for your positive feedback! I am sure you will like what we have coming up. Give us a few weeks, we have MANY new games covered in the next batch. Daniel T has really managed to conquer a lot of games inbetween his other activities!

  • This game drove me crazy as a kid. Challenging yet extremely addicting nonetheless. I'm officially impressed, shincyriades.

  • I never made it to the boss in the third level. xD

  • Remembering having trouble in the 3rd level (Comanchi village) with all those indians, but when i beat it the final 3 or 4 levels were little bit easier for some strange reason.

Good playing Shincirades, i also enjoyed the battletoads walkthrough

  • this level one of the best theme songs ever

  • The person whose comment I deleted...

    1) Try reading the description next time. In it, I say that the run involves NOT BUYING items. Youtube did not allow enough room in the title to accurately reflect that.

    2) Don't be a hater. It helps to be polite.

  • I can do the exact same thing on this, so I can believe that this is legit. Those that say it's fake, just do what you've been doing and deleting. Damn good job on this.

  • Thanks a bunch! Daniel T worked hard to get so good at these games, and inbetween college and work, no less!

  • Alright thank you, joejacky22, I'm glad that someone out there has also done this and knows that it's actually possible!

People can say what they want though, I can take it.

My wish is that people start believing in themselves, since that is when just about anything is possible!

  • Actually, I've been practicing with it now again after going a few years without playing, but my fingers get sore before I can finish again! I haven't been able to finish yet, but I'll keep working on it. But I used to do it quite a bit.

  • Alright cool, keep it up and you will surely prevail!

  • hmm, looks like you have the machinegun code somethimes ! xD

  • Yeah, looks can be deceiving, GloryGlasgowCeltic :).

My thumbs were getting tired of constantly having to press the B and A buttons, in order to make the regular gun more powerful than it really is, but I just would not give up. I ignored the discomfort and did my best to get the job done.

Fortunately, everything worked out in the end, but man was this ever a stressful challenge!

  • No he doesn't. The machine gun has a totally different sound. If you shoot the regular rifle fast enough, it LOOKS like the machine gun, but he's doing it legit here.

  • Capcom made the niftiest Nintendo games.

  • Used to play this game as a kid. I never got passed the native american village.

  • I remember this game.... fun fun fun

  • Very true, OCPrunsthecops! And what about those ninjas in Death Mountain? Only a Nintendo game could get away with such an idea lol.
