I use a ZoomH4n portable recording USB device. As for the distance question: I'm (obviously) lip singing to my own recording. When I recorded the vocals, I sang about 1 meter (~3.5 feet) away from the microphone.

@TransgenderedMonkey Just sing it an octave up. And besides, tenors get all the glory, the money & the women (at least in opera): Pavarotti, Caruso, Lanza, Domingo, Wunderlich... all tenors. Could you name as many famous basses? Not too many come to mind. ;-)

@AJmac610 Haha. I guess baritones just get to do it all, eh? But seriously as a bass you have, with proper vocal training, the possibility to develop a very wide and rich range. I've heard a deep operatic bass singing a powerful low E2 and singing a great high G4 as well. It's not because you can sing low easily that it's all you can do, that's just a common mistake people make. Singing isn't sustained talking, unlike what the Music Man says. ;-)

@FMGuitar Merci Fred ! Je suis très content du résultat sur ce projet qui m'a demandé pas mal de temps. Je travaille ma voix et elle gagne en profondeur et en brillance, et sonne moins tendue qu'avant (par exemple il y a 1 ou 2 ans). J'imagine qu'à la guitare le son que tu produis avec une main sans tensions inutiles donne un résultat très différent d'une main crispée. Très content que tu sois toujours fan de mes vidéos. ;-)

@skllbeatslck Thanks. The sound is always edited, of course, I don't layer my individual raw recordings directly and get this result. I apply some EQing to give some of the voices more depth, balance the voicing so that the lead is audible, apply a quick round of compression to give the sound more volume, etc. Nothing very original. ;-)

I dig it. You've got this gnarly old school sound to your voice. Not to mention you actually have a more bass/baritone voice so unlike a lot of these multitrack tenors out there you don't have to use octave down effects or transpose songs up.
