  • about clutches should i force if i feel back pain?

sorry if its a stupid question

  • @antiwwe Sorry, I dont understand your question. Does anyone know what he is trying to ask? By the way folks, be nice to folks here who dont write well. there are lots of youtube viewers who speak english as a second language.

  • I'm waiting the "How To Lift Properly" video :\

  • What should I do about pain in my neck or upper back?

  • @Dannnneh Sorry, no idea. :(. You need to see a doctor.

  • if you have back pain then wy didnt you do this before

  • watch watch ...

    watch?v=MpLYmUz8JSM

  • thanks for the good tips.a very sound advices for all sport fans and health conscious people.God bless you for caring.

  • Thanks 4 the post bro I have a steel cage in my spine and this will help!

  • Are you talking about pain somewhere around sacrum or higher ?

  • i like people who tries to open eyes for a helty style of life and specialy witheout any compedance

  • Kudos to you Scoobie, of all the things you could be doing with your free time, you decided to make videos and help so many people over the internet.

Thanks a lot! man, those videos (As for all your others videos) have helped me, but specially this one, since I've just got a back muscle spasm, and couldn't even walk for a week. (Saw a doctor of course) but your excercises really helped.

  • what do you think about hyperextentions for the lower backmuscles?

  • I did almost all of these excercises and even after one round of doing em I feel a lot better. And for those not liking this video. Scooby fully points out that he is not a chiropractor, doctor or any kind of physical therapist. These are pretty much the general excercises you are told to do if you have a weak lower back. Anything else is to be consulted by a physician, not doing so might only damage you in the long run. Stay safe people =)

  • how about deadlifts for prevention of pain and strengthening your back?

  • McKenzie exercises

  • hi scooby-good stuff-i was rear ended in a car accident and worked hard for 2 years to get back in a flow .. but every blue moon you are reminded you will always have back pain-like an old friend that comes to visit uninvited. happens. I wonder if you're familiar with the McKenzie exercises. since you spoke of phys. rehab. these were given to me in illustrations-and are not as tough as the supermans-and may have even inspired them. anyway, good stuff and be well.

  • scooby i need your help with this,i am following your videos for quite some time now

and i'm seeing good results, the only thing that became a problem for me is i am developing stretch marks near my upper arms... can you please suggest how can i get rid of them??

  • You are so cool, dude ;)

  • Good advice

A top physio told me that walking over uneven ground was one of the best/natural methods to strengthen a weak back after injury as the bodies muscles have to work slightly harder to keep balance than on the flat.

    The following books are excellent

    Amazon Treat-Your-Back-Robin-McKenzie

  • I really need you to do a video about back pain! I've been having some severe lower and middle back pains lately, I'm gonna take your advise, thanks! :)

  • @amanuelamanuel I have a question though, what is the ice good for?

  • surgery definately isn't the answer... after a bad car accident left my back all messed up... I noticed the only thing that helped was staying active... eating healthy and working out my core... great videos scooby

  • this is a really good video i just wish i saw it before i messed up my back :(

i have 1 question though. my pain is on my lower back and only on the right side so should i just do exercises for that side or still do both??? please answer i will be grateful :)

  • I gotta pee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Scooby for King!

I want a shirt with his face printed on!

    He gives soooo good information!

  • So how did your triathlon go?

  • @TheBranDingo Thanks, the triathlon this weekend went amazingly well! Not only was I able to complete it but I did it much faster than I had any reason to hope. :) I got my back in order just in the nick of time.

  • what should i do about pain in my wrists??

  • @makohit Stop doing what hurts your wrists and see a doctor if it continues.

  • @scooby1961

    Thank u scooby dooby doo!!!!!!

i always lift and sort of use my back and i dont have a strong core or legs so yeah thanks

now ima focus on my core and legs.

my friends told me that i lift and that i use my back alot and its true =[ but luckily i dont get back pains ;] thanzs

  • @scooby1961 i love your logic!

  • @makohit go see a neuromuscular therapist. They can fix that

  • @makohit I injured my wrist years ago from lifting too much weight. First stop lifting until the major pain goes away. like other guy said go to a doctor. After serious pain subsides try doing wrist curls with a barbell than has no weight on it. do the exercise slowly and stop if it causes pain. This exercise rehabilitated my wrists in about 6 weeks.

  • thanks man i was just about to take it lol

  • Scooby ftw tbh, everytime i watch a video i feel like working out :D what a motivator!

  • if you cant stand up straight and bend forward or do the cat without pain and with locking you could have a disc injury. this is what happened with me, my disc split like a cut on ur knuckles and as u curve/lean forward the cut opens up and causes pain, but thats all healed up now, just got a little bit more lower back strengthening. btw, swimming is great for healing.

  • where is the hamstring stretch video ? :P

  • @Sephiroth0232 yea seriously scooby! I cant reach my toes and i have terrible lower back pain!

  • lol when you first uploaded this i was like thats never ganna happen to me i don't need to do these one week later i have back spasms and can barely walk

  • his obliques are huge, garden's pretty good too lol

  • lying with your back on a cold ground is also not a good idea...

  • what happened with the triathalon???

  • ey Scoobie man u know your shit man very educational

  • Scooby, you're a great guy for doing all these videos for us! Thanks!

  • Great:-)

  • hi scooby, love your videos! this is just a general question, i was wondering what your thoughts were on sitting in a dry sauna and the use of body oils for massaging chest and shoulder muscles post workouts. Any recommendations?

  • I need an answer. Im 14 & i lift 40 lbs because imma beginner but my schedule is:

30 bicep curls, 30 knee lifts (abs), 30 dumbbell flys, 5 of chinups, & pullups

Is that a good schedule or what?

  • @Insanelykid

You're 14... you are not fully developed, don't go to heavy, just use body weight. You dont't want to screw yourself up.

  • Scooby,

How much money have you made off of youtube paying you to make these videos? I hear they pay you 10 cents for every view over 1million on your profile.

  • Scooby...I've been lifting weights for about 5 years and this question has recently come to my attention:

DOES LIFTING WEIGHT HURT MY BODY??

I'm all about looking good...but am I only hurting my body by tearing muscle tissue??

I understand if you're too busy to reply.

  • @ericmsandoval,

No, you're not. Your body is designed to adapt and to repair itself, and you remain strong and functional by weight training (with proper form, that is).

  • @BigWalkinTallV Hey thanks for that. I'm really big on taking care of my body. Thanks.

  • There are many things that can cause "back pain", not just muscle imbalances and synergistic dominance, which is what you are referring to. Stay within your scope of practice, which is basically advise for general resistance training, nothing more. Leave back pain to the experts with Masters and Doctorate degrees in Physical Therapy. You've lost my respect and subscription.

  • Scooby, what are you doing, man? I liked your videos before, but now you are really going out of your scope of practice here. I am a fitness specialist myself, currently securing certifications with NSCA and NASM. Your fitness advise is pretty good, but your nutrition advise (such as eating excess amounts of protein) and "how to prevent back pain" is truly lacking.

  • Comment removed

  • Great:-)

  • scooby whats a good way to lose butt fat?

  • @808GunRocker THERE ISNT ANYWAY TO LOSE BUTT FAT, JUST EXERCISE TO LOSE FAT ON THE HOLE BODY :) OR DO A PLASTICE

  • Scooby! You forgot bridge excercises! What about some hindu pushups? And how did you hurt you back?

  • SCOOBY , i talk about u a looot u r a master i study engineering =)

my girlfriend got me crazy she wanna know more than anything if u r married and have kids or no .

she is wondering if u have a life outside bodybuilding and ur Job .

  • Scooby, i am now at the point where i cant take it anymore, please i really need some advise about what to do with me knee pain, please, i am a bodybiulder beginner, i really want to improve me shape and confidence, i need you to tell me what to do with me knee pain, please, with it i cant jog, can do nothing :(, i am overweight, so exercising at home with dumbells wont work with me, as you said your videos, it's better to run then exercising to lose wieght.

Anyone who knows whats to do,help me

  • @gotiungo Knees are crap. A complete f@ck up on the part of evolution. Really not up to the task for which they were designed.

Being overweight exacerbates the problem, so if you are susceptible to knee issues, losing weight will improve your life generally.

You will lose far more weight from changing your diet than you will from exercising, so put more effort into this area.

For exercise, try swimming or walking instead.

  • @tonycatman isnt there anyway to treat knee pain?

  • @gotiungo Many times knee pain can be eliminated thru physical therapy. Often people have weak hamstrings which can cause knee pain or they lack flexibility in some of the leg muscles.

  • @scooby1961 thanks scooby :D, you're a great apll :D

  • @scooby1961 what can we do to prevent this, and thanx anyways great videos.

  • @gotiungo Ensure you don't have an arthritic condition or an injury by consulting a physician.

Then support your knee joints as best you can by dropping weight and strengthening the muscles around the knee, particularly hamstrings.

Finally, put some money to one side so that you can get a new pair from knees-are-us when you are older.

  • @gotiungo I also had a lot of knee pain when I started running. What helped me was a lot of stretching AFTER my workout. Just 5-8mins of basic quad and hamstring stretches really helped. Also make sure you are resting properly and wearing proper running shoes.

  • Hi Scooby, thanks for sharing your methods of avoiding and dealing with lower back pain, but I am can't but wonder about how you got to have this lower back pain to begin with. I am sure you have followed proper procedures while lifting etc. Was it poor posture as a teenager or something?

  • What!? Different hat! : P

  • Thanks for another great video Scooby. It is very helpful. I really apreciate the time you spend on these videos for us. You seem like a really nice guy!

  • why do you do exercises on wet tiles? cold and humidity is bad for joints.

  • i'm only 16 and i got diagnosed with Ankylosing spondylitis which really sucks, these are really helping me scoob.

  • Scooby, you are awesoooome! You really made me laugh a bit, with the cats and the camels. xD but this clip help me out a bit, cause at the gym i helped my friend lift some weights, and i was helping him lift with my back, not with my legs, that was when i got the worst back pain ever!:(

  • Scoob I'm a computer dude and constantly end up hosing my lower back lifting heavy printers, usually off the floor in boxes and onto a cart. I know lift with your legs and not with your back but I just can't seem to get it together! Love the videos!

  • dear scooby i have question i am follow yr structure as no pain no gain I work out each muscle once a week even two days after that my muscle still feel pain, each time i went to gym i work out with all power i have, i lift as much as i can (in correct way) so my question is should I work out so hard each time i go to gym or i should do it once a month just to shock the muscles? Thanks you so much you have change my perspective about working out

  • ah his voice is so soothing when ur drunk

  • you live in a brasilian jungle? haha

  • Good luck for your triathlon Scooby.

  • Where did you buy those plants if i can ask.

  • Nice garden man !

  • Looking better and better by each video scooby! Big ripped and look at those quads xD Thumbs up.

  • why is this guy's shirt always off, I mean geeze louize

  • Great video as usual! :)

  • Hey sir, I went to the gym for my first time on Wednesday, and have muscle soreness, it's Saturday and I still have soreness. should I go today and exercise less or the same amount? Or should I rest and go next Wednesday?

    Thanks in advance

  • scooby just a quick question-

i am 14 years old and quit fit but i got my hands on a zma product, people say take some but i just want to hear what you say about it

  • @hackkney Supplements at age 14, please dont!

  • i got a question for you...whats the cure for lazyness and how to keep motivated. For example if you got it all figured out in the head how do u execute it?

  • just curious, but how did you hurt your back

  • Beterschap!

  • I have suffered with lowerback pain for some years now and i was unaware of these kind of strengthening exercises.

    Thanks Scooby....

  • it feels like a have a pinched nerve in my upper back. i first felt it doing military presses. anyone else ever have this problem?

  • A lot of success Scooby and kudos for the videos and for your will.

  • Hey Scooby. I recently acquired a back injury. I was doing push presses and my mid-lower back hyper-extended a bit I think. Anyway, now when i work my mid or lower back, It get sore. Obviously I've been avoiding these, hoping it would recover on it's own. It feels like it's right on my spine. It's been several weeks, so I'm not really concerned about a serious spinal injury. Anyway, I wanted to know if these would work for that, and if not, do you have any advice?

  • scooby1961 plz accept my add I have questions, and I think you can answer it

  • Hey Scooby! Have you tried back inversion by chance?

  • looking good scoob!

    :)

  • Scooby, what is your opinion on dead-lifts?

  • @benniturd

Deadlifts are safe if you do them propally. remember no exercise would be invented if it was unsafe LOL/ :)

  • @benniturd

i doubt he does them. he could barely lie on his back to do supermans. deadlifts would practically be suicide for em.

  • how did u hurt ur back?

  • Nice video !!! scooby !! The best dude that can explain PROPERLY !!! Even a 4y/o would understand it GOOD !!! Do like.

  • Holy crap scooby, you look like you are in serious pain. I won't complain about my lower back pains any more after seeing you... You just did all the excercises I have been thinking about trying out. I am very strict with following my training but with my lower back I have not been as strict... I'm the only one taking damage from it.

I also wanted to tell you that you are awesome. Your videos are really great. Thanks for being on youtube.

PS: Seriously I love that fishing hat

  • what about hgh or something like prescribed testosterone for recovery....i have a freind that took dianabol...prescribed and he completely healed up with about four days...he did his physical therapy excercises of course

  • Thx for the vid scooby.

Do you think your injuries come from lifting weights?

  • Scooby, what do you think about this video? /watch?v=ea6UJGl_zrg

  • @gab123123123 IMHO, the product "Perfect Pushups" is a complete waste of money. For those that havent seen them they are rotating pushup stands. First of all, I recommend just doing pushups from your fists on a carpet - helps build your hand and wrist strength while you do pushups. Second, if you MUST have a pushup stand just use a pair of octagonal dumbbells that you already own or buy cheepo pushup stands for $4. DONT BUY STUFF YOU DONT NEED!

  • Hi Scooby, this is a great video. I just have a request. Can you make a video of the various stretches or exercises to strenghten the ankle? I have noticed quite recently, that i have this frequent weakening feeling in my ankles after long distance running. Could there be a problem of technique?

  • @Mythorigor0977 Try lots of those balancing exercises on half-balls or doing dumbbell exercises while on the half ball. That really works on the stabilizing muscles in the ankle, and leg.

  • Scooby does cardio burn muscles ? Please reply asap ,

  • @Mythorigor0977 Running on sand, trails, rocks, any uneven terrain will strengthen all stabilizer muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the akle region. Just make sure to wear the proper footwear and to increase training time on uneven surfaces gradually.

  • Scooby! I was just thinking about how I could release lower back tension and you made this video! Awesome coincidence!

  • when is the video of you peeing due? 5/15/10?

  • Hello Scooby I use chi when lifting weights is this ok?

  • Scooby =superman

  • dude your the man, man. you keep on makin the vidoes, u guve great ideas. and no offense, but when i get older i would like to be contiuning workin out, if i made the time for it! lol

  • thanks for a great video Scooby !

I would recommend you to get your back examined by different people if you have problems for some time. I went to an ordinary doctor, a physiotherapist and a chiropractor. The chiropractor took some x-rays and he explained to me that I have a sideways curve in my spine. Going to different people will give you a quite defined picture of what is actually causing the problem.

  • so informative sir, thanks!

  • "heard of twist and shout?" lmfao!

  • awesome as usual

  • do you wear a belt for lifting?

  • @alex871uk I dont believe in lifting belts, I feel they cause people to use poor form and increase the risk of injury. Only exception would be someone with a hernia, then I would recommend the belt.

  • @alex871uk what scooby said, to an extent. when i do deadlifts, i do 335x8, without a belt. if i try something under 4 reps, or over 365, i will wear a belt. especially for a max squat, or deadlift, gives you extra lumbar support, and if you're into powerlifting as such, then yes wear one. if you have a weak core, and want to do deads or squats, strengthen your core and lower back before going heavy

  • I hope that you will finish your Triathlon in style! Thanks for your great videos!

  • how come such a healthy fit guy like you has chronic pack pain??? did u get injured or was due wrong work out? what happened scooby?? btw, if i were a girl i would say that you definitely have a nice strong butt , especially in the previous superman exercise video;)

  • @fennel456 obviously i meant back pain lol

  • @fennel456 Almost everyone suffers from back pain at some point in their life, that's just the way we're built, unfortunately. I'm 23 and I have CBP already but I even know a 13 y.o. who's in bad shape. It usually starts with a minor injury - if you neglect it it will develop and make you suffer. So be wary.

BTW I'm not a girl either but I agree with you, Scooby looks amazing for a 45-y.o. man.

  • @fennel456 Who knows why I have periodic back injuries despite being in good shape and having good stabilizing muscles, heredity perhaps, my dad has always had them. Could be because I'm really tall, I'm sure tall people get these problems more than shorter people. My "injury" that caused this bout of bad back pain could not be identified, my back pain just happened. Usually I can identify some jumping, twisting, strething leap in volleyball that caused it but this time it was nothing.

  • @scooby1961 Scooby, you maybe suggesting a genetic link between back pain, but could be also your family used to have bad posture, never taught it. Or had poor seating, which can lead to back pain. It may be due to what you said and/or a combination. I really think you should definately make a video on posture both standing and seating, as this is often vital for preventing lower back pain. Many people believe they have good posture when in fact theirs is terrible-i did before my physio taughtme

  • hahaha 'Twist and shout'! good stuff!

  • You're like a cross between Ned Flanders and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

  • @trihflu omg come to think of it!! ye he is!!hahaha

  • @trihflu LMAO

  • You rock man!

  • Tks for the video

Im having a ower back pain I went heavy on one back exercice

For the moment, I;m just doing elliptical at the gym

    Do u think it's OK

    Tks

  • 2:41 SCOOBY: What kind of a doctor should a person with back pain see?? A physicist? Psychologist? Sociologist? .......

  • @MooseheadDrinker

are you serious? none of those, wow

  • @MooseheadDrinker Neurologist and physical therapist. They usually work together. The neurologist will check if your nervous system is affected by the injury and the PT will teach you to train your muscles properly and safely.

  • @MooseheadDrinker If you have back pain, I would start with your family doctor (a general Practitioner GP), the one have a relationship with. Let them refer you to a specialist.

  • @MooseheadDrinker

Osteopath or Chiropractor is not a bad idea.

  • @MooseheadDrinker Bacteriologist.

  • Would these excercises still work, after you had back surgery? 6 months after surgery and the pain still comes and goes.

  • Sup Scoobz! What happens when people physically become too old to continue working out? What do you recommend to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

  • gorilla tits? :D i love this nigga and his hat :)

but for real his videos are good shit

  • Best of luck with the triathlon Scooby!

    Thanks for the vid

  • camel cat! ...camellllll.. Cat!

bahahah... I love your videos scoob!

  • You should make a tedinitis video.

  • Great video, keep up the good work!

Is this "rehab series" going to continue? If so i id like to make a request on a knee rehab and strengthening video, it would be highly appreciated, . =)

  • @xXNinjaKiwiXx I prey this rehab series will NOT continue! Please no more injuries! I hope you havent jinxed me but my shoulder has been getting progressively worse the last year despite me doing PT exercises for it. I hope I'm not going to need that shoulder knifed - I hate surgery.

  • @scooby1961 Yea i know what your getting at, going under the knife is never fun. Hopefully that wont happen, best of luck and take care.

ohyea, thank you for the reply! =D

  • @scooby1961 Man this rehab series is pretty cool, I'm 17 and I seem to have a weakness in my back, upper and lower, and my knees. I still manage but it's a nuisance and I'm afraid it can only get worse as I mature. Your videos are very useful Scooby! Keep up the uploads!

  • great vid!

  • you goooo scooby !! im thankful for ur vids. learning alot from them

  • Scooby - you're amazing.

  • thanks scooby i really needed dis video bc i dont have time to run and if i try to even do a couple sit ups my back starts to hurt or lifting it hurts so i being gaining weight now with dis video i can get back to sports :)

  • Are you married Scooby? :)

  • I was thinking about Twist & Shout right before you said it xD Go Beatles!

  • 6:04 nice ;-)

  • i think, you just saved my lower back!!!!! thanks for everything!!!!!!!

  • Hi Scooby,

Can you please add subtitles to your vids?

  • @chen375 adding subtitles is on my list of goals for 2010. i want tgem in english, german and spanish. i also plan on a spanish version of my website.

  • @scooby1961

Hey Scooby, I noticed youtube does this automatically on some videos. Maybe there's just an option you need to turn on (havent tried it myself yet) and I bet your german and spanish fans will do the translation for you.

    Alles klar ;) ?

  • Great video, very helpful. I don't have back pain to the point of spasms or incapacity, but I've been doing preventory exercises for a while now.

Good luck with the Triatholon! You'll have to tell us how it goes!

  • Hey Scooby, cant wait until your hamstring video comes out. I think you should branch out to more stretching vids (maybe you have already but i couldnt find any)

    Great vids

  • Bummer Scoob, you are really in pain :(

How did you injure your back in the first place?

  • After doing the Superman, I'm told you should finish by curling into a tight ball, and hold the position before getting up.

BTW - I'm really sorry to see you in pain.

  • @tonycatman i personally do tge fetal ball stretch between every rehab exercise. i left it out because for some unknown reason many physical tyerapists dont seem to like that both legs up stretch. any PTs out there care to explain?

  • lol Scooby had "Lift Properly" listed as one of the things you can do to prevent lower back injuries. haha Scooby you are such a kidder, as if we purposely lift wrong to cause ourselves back problems. =D i dont know, i just found it funny.

  • Correction : Try as hard as you can to remember what did you do wrong !
