That brought back some memories. In middle school, this station was all anyone listened to. It went on the air around when I started 7th grade and it rocked our world. Esp. when they started giving away $100 every hour. Hey, that was a lot of money to a kid!
Great! We need some thing like Scott &Co in UK. . .. . .UK commercial radio is corporatized, as is US radio now. Ya think you're listening to local jock, and it's some guy a 100 miles (or more) away & is on a network of 7 - 10 stations. And the commercials???? Jeeeezzzz.....they go on forever! Not like when I was with KQV. . .spot announcement, max 2 30" spots or the kids would tune away. Thank you for posting this informative video!
I lived in upstate New York from 1985- mid April 1992. In April 1992 I moved to Rapid City, South Dakota the closest radio station to Z100 was HIT100 KGGG-FM and they had a similar morning program called the Breakfast Flakes with Tom Collins and Brian McDaniels. HIT100 unlike Z100 has went through personality and a format changes since January 1994 (They're now Classic Rock The Fox 100.3 with new call letters). Morning Zoo and Breakfast Flakes are ironically same sounding.
Joey Reynolds was the #1 jock in Buffalo at the late, great KB Radio 1520. His changeover with after drive DJ Dan Neaverth was mandatory listening every night at 7pm. I miss those days...
To answer Joey Reynolds' question at 2:30... the TOH IDs at 0:04 and 1:03 were voiced by the late Len "Boom" Goldberg. He worked at Z100's then (and current) sister station, WMMS in Cleveland. Boom was at WMMS for well over 33 years, and Scott was right on the money... he was "the Voice of God."
OH YEAH they used to always say "PHRASE THAT PAYS" on z100. i forgot about that, I heard it a lot when Rich Davis used to say that, (in the late 90's and early 2000)
love scott shannon.. I love him to death and though he is now with WPLJ. He inspired me to go to broadcasting school.. Wish he would have hired me, lol!!!
They had the balls to play Barnes and Barnes (Billy Mumy of "Lost In Space" fame was one half) and their Big Hit "Fish Heads"!

What I'd like to know is, who thought to record this on camera, and why? I'm glad someone did though; brings back memories.
