used to study under Pete for little bit. he was an insane guitarist.Blew my mind but I don't he ever explained to me the reason why he strung his guitar the way he did.
Pete Cosey rocks!!! I actually had the good fortune of meeting him and I spent some time discussing the trials and turbulations of being a musician, life on the road with Miles, touring, etc. I am forever grateful for the wisdom!!! :)
Children of Agartha really ought to consider recording this in the studio, with the Estate's permission of course. Calypso Frelimo could do really well with updated instrumentation and technology.
Not to burst anybody's bubbles, but I've listened to a lot of Dark Magus, Agartha... well, just about everything he's done in that era. And on Dark Magus, we mainly hear Dominique Gaumont, not Cosey. I have a bootleg of the Dark Magus line-up too, so I can tell who's playing what. For me, personally, the best solos on Magus come from Gaumont. (But I still love Cosey's playing on Agartha and Pangea, don't get me wrong...!)
@TheRealDerfMan Well the solos on Agharta and Pangea sure as heck don't feature Gaumont and they are as amazing - maybe even more so - than anything I hear on Dark Magus.
@talkingwall ...ok... "the solos on Agharta and Pangea sure as heck don't feature Gaumont..." Yeah, no shit, sherlock... Gaumont wasn't in the band by the end of 1974, so OF COURSE those solos don't feature him 'cause HE WASN'T THERE.
Ya know what? My ears will prefer certain things that others like yourself may not necessarily prefer, 'cause we're all different!! I prefer Gaumont's solos. Big fucking deal...! And I really don't care who agrees or disagrees with me. Sorry..!
I saw Miles at Keystone S.F. about three months or so after Agartha had come out...and the band had moved to this dark port flavored purple magic that was real luxurious and beautiful...Miles played some of the most gorgeous deeply exotic silky horn I ever heard...It was a cauldron of sound..
a hypnotic pool that sizzled and erupted...finally the band left the small stage and the instruments continued to play by themselves for about another 40 seconds...jeeez.
haha i was gonna "get you" becuz i have seen the posters for the Keystone gigs looking for miles on Peter Losin's site. I wish I coulda been alive then to see that performance. I heard that Mike's bass was so deep that you felt it in your bowels. wasnt the Keystone a small club of some sort??
It's good to see Pete still out and about and still chasing the voodoo down.

Yes very small. If Miles blew his snot out of his nose...halfway back in the room you had better duck.
Now a phone store...so sad. But North beach still great...

Amazing! I have a poor-quality audience recording of this gig and never thought I'd get to see any video of it! Do you have any more footage?
Thanks for sharing this clip.
