It wasn't a "patriotic" war for Russia, the Russians were fooled by religious fanatism for the exclusive profit of England and the Russian aristocracy. Their national interest would be to ally with France to dismember the Ottoman Empire, that was the French proposal. Paul 1st was a great man, Alexander 1st was a francophobic moron. Now Istanbul would be a Russian city and a major sea power.
Russia was feudal and huge, Nappoleons invasion was but a mosquito bite and for him a horrendous loss of soldiers which could have used to defend his european gains. Hes should have sacked and burnt Vienna and Berlin also so that they could not backstab him and secure his hoaldings.
THe british where always moving in the background.
Kutuzov, what a great general. The only realist in the Russian aristocratic army

Russians had to fight off a French invasion, America a British. Fun times in 1812...
We both won our perspective 'Patriotic War', too. :)

@MaxRWF You are probably right about that...rhe war of 1812 was meaningless,100000 of soldiers died and Moscow sacked for nothing.

@am1966ath : men killed for the republicans ideas, so it was not for nothing
