  • I remember seeing this.. lake Ontario dillhole. Not an ocean... anyways if I remember correctly no one was injured

  • @JessEMshufflers well, you don't remember correctly, all seven crew were killed. Oh, and don't call the poster a 'dillhole', whatever the hell that is, without reading the description.

  • suicide, the pilot was depressed the worlds a better place now! haha

  • Comment removed

  • gummoboy333, I had to comment on this. Perhaps you should think before posting comments like this, especially when I knew the pilots and crew who parished as a result of the unfortunate incident. Insensitive comments like these show the type of person you are.

  • @Instructor2233 Yeah your right! I think I got caught up in the video, there's nothing funny about death in any case even if he was depressed!

  • I saw this happen !

  • @dumdum212 there was no malfunction. The aircraft stalled after the pilot made an error and reduced the speed below standard lowest speed causing the aircraft to stall.

  • On 2 September 2006, Nimrod MR2 XV230 exploded over Afghanistan killing all 14 people on board.

  • On 2 September 1995, a Nimrod MR2 XV239 crashed into Lake Ontario while participating in the Canadian International Air Show, killing the seven crew members

  • That's Lake Ontario, not an Ocean! I was THERE!

  • @horsesnponys its an MR2 not A4.

  • lake, not ocean

  • was that a nimrod?????

  • Before its flight, wasn't this aircraft on display to the public, letting people walk around inside, even into the cockpit? That's what I heard and wondered if maybe that was a cause to any malfunction.

  • The makers of X-Plane 10 should take this crash into account...

  • "etme39 has enlightened me in that it was a Nimrod MRA4 Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft,"

    It was a Nimrod MR2...not an MRA4.

  • @ horsenpony, this is not the ocean buddy. no wonder i had a hell of time trying to find this. toronto 1995 august 23 cne international airshow. 7 british aircrew killed when their nimrod plunged into lake ontario.

  • AND THATS WHY IM NEVER GETTING ON A AIRPLANE it might crash =l

  • @MiZztAtY01811 Well that's stupid. By that logic you should never get in a car, train or ship, or live in a house because it might collapse, or come into contact with any human because they might murder you.

  • @blueb0g im never gonna go on a train. neva got in a ship so dont matter. my house cant collapse it was just built. n nobody guna murder me thats stupid this aint a horror movie ! df n im onlii 12 what u talkin bout

  • @MiZztAtY01811 But you get in a car? You realise you have a much, much higher chance of being killed on the way to the airport than on the plane? You realise that the chance of you getting on a plane and being killed by it crashing is much smaller than the chance of you being killed by your house burning down, or by being electrocuted by an electrical appliance?

  • @blueb0g this isent final destination 5 !!!! gosh

  • @MiZztAtY01811 Exactly. Which is why you shouldn't be scared flying - that's my point. However you're evidently not intelligent enough to have understood my argument.

  • @blueb0g im scared of heights <<<<< n i dont give a phuck if im not INTELLIGENT enough to understand Ur argument i don't no U < . u thru ..

  • References to "banking" probably did not apply to the turn on which he stalled; he was turning back toward shore when he stalled, but it would have been on the subsequent pass that he would have done his wing-over, the highlight of the Nimrod's performance. The trick was to go more than 90 degrees, very spectacular. I think the turn was too tight, only one mile offshore (limited by the spectator boats anchored further out). Tragic piloting error.

  • This 1995 crew was on Breakfast Television on the Friday leading up to the air show weekend and they gave a tour of the Nimrod, it was either Jen Valentine or Steve Anthony, who was doing the Live Eye location stuff at that time in 1995. They spent about 3 hours intermittently with the RAF crew throughout the show

There's another shot of this from the opposite side of the crash which was taken from one of the sailboats. If anybody finds it, please upload it and post it in a video response

  • Lake Ontario - the fifth ocean.

  • on this day we loose alot of good ppl, this air show and also that of the Nimrod 30 that we lost in 2006 :( RIP good servicemen. Lost but never forgotten x

  • did they take out that sailboat?

  • Notice how LONG the sound delay is. LOL.

    Anyway, R.I.P for the crew.

  • i met the crew of the Nimrod at the shearwater international airshow the weekend before this happened.. they were funny and quite engaging and knew their stuff.. rip

  • Very few large bodied air craft have ejection seats - if any! The nimrod WAS the first airliner, the comet, when the windows blew out the public lost faith, they made the windows round and sold them to the RAF, they have been fantastic aircraft in their time, they play a silent role all year round they are Search and Rescue aircraft inpeacetime and did an invaluable job. You can't eject or bail from a Nirod because the tail plane will kill you anyway.

  • they weren't pulling out of a dive they were diving believing that the ground was further away, they did try to pull out of it when they realised that the lake was a lot bloody nearer than the instruments where telling them. My friend was ground crew and listened to what was happening on the radio. Also my ex was part of the nimrod display team around that time and I know that routine inside out - I watched them practice it often enough from my back garden. It was a whole selection of errors.

  • i went to school with one of the pilots Glen Hooper was his name great guy .

  • The Inquiry detenmined that the captain made an error of judgement in modifying one of the display manoeuvres to the extent that he stalled the aircraft at a height and attitude from which recovery was impossible. The Inquiry considered that contributory factors could have included deficiencies in the flight deck crew's training and in the method of supervision which could have allowed the captain to develop an unsafe technique without full appreciation of the consequences.

  • Awesome footage!

  • I saw this crash when i was a little kid and i remember my father (who is a fighter pilot) telling me minutes before the crash that this pilot is crazy. The pilot was flying this slow, cumbersome nimrod as if it were a maneuverable aircraft. Unfortunately the pilot banked to far resulting in very little lift which made the nose drop. The pilot tried to recover and was able to level out but had a lack in altitude. Its saddening that others had to be subject to a pilot pushing the aircrafts limits

  • @GATTOcanale001 THERE ARE SURVIVORS?

  • @GATTOcanale001 Ok thnks for that

  • Rest in peace angels of the sky.

    Andrea

  • damn i wish i could have been there on my board

woulda caught some gnarly waves bro

  • @ImrIyawesome omfg what is wrong with you hahaha

  • They die or not???

  • net.

  • It's an MR2, not an MR4A. The first MR4A didn't fly until 9 years after this.

  • @onlyonegazza "LOL"?? you are one disgusting excuse for a human being

  • "Thank you for flying Cannonball Air". "We realize you have a choice for which airline you're going to smear out with, and we're glad you chose us"

  • Comment removed

  • it was a nimrod mr2 not mra4 the mra4 was due to be finished this year but the budget cuts caused it to be scrapped. My Dad was on this flight. Rest in peace

  • @LCBarnett95

    Sorry.

  • @LCBarnett95 god bless your dad as i mentioned i met them when they were at te shearwater airshow. they did the same manovre here and didn't have any issue.. they were an awesome crew and were very well mannered and funny:) and there was a guy even playing the pipes to welcome anyone who wanted a tour. god bless

  • @stefansmom cheers

  • i met the crew of the nimrod the weekend before at the shearwater international airshow. they were really funny&proud of their jobs. i dont believe for one sec it was pilot error that caused the crash what friends of mine stated to me that were at the toronto airshow from shearwater it looked like the pilot tried to avoid the ships on the lake when his engines failed.that makes them some of the bravest and unselfish gentlemen i have ever met and i will never forget them. RIP

  • i remember this crash on tv... the weekend before was the Shearwater airshow here at CFB Shearwater in dartmouth. i met the crew and had a tour of the plane and i asked them very bluntly how would they get out in case of an accident or crash and they said not to worry they would get out just fine and even chuckled about it... I took about 24 pics that weekend and the only ones that didn't turn out were of the nimrod. and they were in the middle of the roll. RIP

  • LOL

  • @carveriscool why?

  • @daleksec245 I don't know, they just conveniently filmed it. And that there looked as to be no attempt at pulling out of it. It looked like a purpose nosedive to Earth.

  • @carveriscool

What do u mean by Laugh Out Loud (LOL) ???? Explanations in full please!!

  • @onlyonegazza I mean I laughed out loud because it didn't even look like there was even an attempt to pull out of the nosedive. It looked like it just went purposefully into the sea.

  • @carveriscool So are you saying it was suicide.? Read of one of the postings that says the aircraft stalled during a roll. It sounds like the pilot was going to barrell role it almost. It was quite risky given the size and age of the nimrod, however it is quite a manouvarable old girl. Unfortunately, it also sounds like they didnt have enough altitude to recover from a stall. If you think about it once an aircraft is stalled, you have to pitch the nose down to gain speed and recover

  • @carveriscool I would also have to LOL at the fact the pilot didn't attempt to pull out of a nose dive, which could of resulted in minimal death

  • exactly the same situation happened a few years later with a B-52

at Fairchild field. In this case however; credit to the pilot and airframe

for getting the wings level, but can't help feeling that full throttle in the

recovery was an error(full thrust nose down trim with swept wing). If

he had pulled the power off once level, the nose would have 'pitched up'.

  • @cdnzoobud

Unfortunately your synopsis is wrong. It doesn't pitch down with power and up without power. Ultimately the wings fly it so without enough airspeed the direction the nose is pointing doesn't have any say on whether or not it has enough lift to overcome gravity. The pilot executed the recovery perfectly. Unfortunately he just ran out of height.

  • wow.........................

  • Good job they've stopped building them then

  • Comment removed

  • @BakedTuber What do you mean 'Good job they've stopped building them'. It was the pilots error. Nothing to do with the aircraft.

Or are you a Russian submarine commander

  • OMG thats so horrible! send chills down my spine. Those poor guys

  • this is not an ocean its lake ontario

  • @southsidedude101 yea need to chance title from ocean to lake ontario, i was at this crash i was 10 years old every one screaming he was going in the water about 30seconds before it happened.

  • I saw this happen.... was 8 years old then, couldn't go to the airshow again for a couple years.

  • @HMCSHalifax you are such a fucking faggot for needing to lie to a bunch of people on the internet.

  • @Wesley296 Nope, I was actually there. But your ignorance and immaturity amuse me. I feel sorry for you.

  • My fucking uncle was in that crash u twat why put this on youtube CUNT !!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Gippard11 Why does this video have to be singled out, just cause your uncle was supposedly in it? Other video's are on here of airliners crashing with hundreds of people on board that get killed in the crash. Most people see it as a tribute to those who lost they're lives in an accident like this. I'm sure it was not meant to be put on here to piss you off, or a direct insult to your family. If video's were depicted as being that way towards people, then YouTube would not allow them to be shown

  • I've just found my RAF Cadet record book and discovered in the flights undertaken section I spent 9 hours on this Nimrod MR2 (XV239) a few years before it crashed. It was a great flight with some good memories. I have no idea if the crew on board then was the same as the crew when it crashed. But then what does that matter. They were all good guys at RAF Kinloss. RIP.

  • The MRA4 wont enter service EVER!!

  • @horsesnponys It's not a Nirmrod MRA4, it's a Nimrod MR2. Remember this is 1995, the MRA4 wont even enter service until 2012.

  • The Nimrod crashed onto Lake Ontario, not the ocean.

  • Lake Ontario not the ocean.

  • WOW!

  • I remember watching a documentary about this crash, it was a pilot error he stalled the aircraft, however he did manage to fly it into the crash area ( lake ontario) thus being called a hero, i think there is actually a statue made for the aircrew of this nimrod

  • yeah, the RAF Nimrod crashed into LAKE Ontario..I was there...to tell you the truth, I knew he was going into the drink, it was almost like it was in slow motion...what I remember most is the thud of the plane hitting the water, you could almost feel it....

  • I remember that day as well. My father had taken my brother & I to Lester B. Pearson airport (what used to be the parking lot of McDonald Douglas) to watch all the planes for the air show take off. The lot was situated as such that the planes would almost take off & fly directly over you. I remember that very plane take off & fly over our heads as we sat on the roof top of my fathers car. I remember seeing some of the crew members through the windows. Very sad when we got home to find out.

  • The weekend before his happened they were in the Boston, MA area doing an airshow. I was 12 when it happened. I was very shocked about it as the pilot (co-pilot? i don't remember) happened to sit down next to me that day and chatted for like 20 minutes.

  • @snyphilis

    that just brings it home

  • For the Seven crew members who died that day, Rest in Peace <3

  • ummmmmmmmmmm hey dumb ass it was a lake in canada lake ontario at the air show. i was there. that and it says toronto on the screem

  • I was there when that happened :(

  • @starlet9090 funny huh , you will have a loss soon and we will see what is funny

  • plane crashes are funny. you take the risk of dying when you take off. the piolet could have saved everyone

  • @wilberredeyes you Muppet. I would have called you something stronger but at least I have some control over my thoughts!

  • i was there, i was a young boy, but that shit gave me nightmares for years! was down by the lake tonight and thought about the crash, came home to youtube and was surprised to see theres a video!

  • @MrCanadianStoner nightmares? I would be amazed like a year from that cool stuff

  • Its an MR2 not an MRA4

  • @Azathespaz6666 your definately right its not fake and its not a mra4

  • i saw this when i was a kid it was cool, i was one of the few people who could see it because i was high up near the nintendo tower

  • I was in that plane the morning before it crashed, I was 11 and my dad took me to the static display area at YYZ. Then ended up watching it crash hours later. Remember the helicopters and smell of the jet fuel from the nimrod. The pilot was able to avoid the group of boats hopefully saving some lives.

  • @XDC0NN0RXD creep

  • @flyingidiot357 just wanted to know, settle.

  • damn,did it hit a boat?

  • i was there too...its real

  • The guy that yells 'HOLY SHIT' is my dad

  • This isnt fake, I saw this when I was 3 years old

  • @isaacanaya This was a Nimrod MR2 aircraft from RAF Kinloss. This isn't fake at all. None of the crew survived.

  • September 2, 1995: Seven Royal Air Force crew members were killed when their Hawker Siddeley Nimrod MR.2P stalled during a low altitude turn and crashed into Lake Ontario.

  • @ isaacanaya - MORON ! not fake at all... I was there when it happened. Google "nimrod crash CNE Toronto". It was at the Canadian Exhibiton Place Toronto AirShow. They were demonstrating evasive maneuvers and didn't go as planned. R.I.P.

  • so fake

  • @isaacanaya That wasnt fake, I new the guys that got killed on that thanks very much, you tosser.

  • God, new some of them guys.

  • Job for US Coast Guard baby thanks for all your respect guys!

  • you should know that ontario is nowhere near the ocean, this crash must be in the great lakes if its near ontario

  • Comment removed

  • The aircraft had been in service for 20 plus years and was merely part of the air display, It was Pilot error according to the report.. The Nimrod MR" which this is (NOT MRA4) ends it's service in March this year.

  • I use to work at Ontario Place and I was there that day. I remember people leaving the air show earlier than usual so I asked what happened. They said the air show was cancelled because a plane crashed. My understanding was that they were flying much to slow and close to the water and the plane stalled and slammed into the lake.

  • then why were the engines smoking

  • The local authorities concluded that the cause of the crash was pilot error. There was nothing wrong with the plane, just a bunch of overconfident British flyboys.

  • @thcia These where people. Seven of them actually that lived and loved and had wifes and children and cared. They didn't get out the bed that day and court this disaster. Maybe you will be near to a disaster one day and have to read cruel commentary about it like yours.

  • @arctree they spent the previous few days visiting sick children in Toronto and as people of our nation actually trying to make a difference to the world. Saddens me to see abuse and such comments, . When it comes to judgement day the bad people will have a hard time being accepted to the place upstairs .

  • @arctree Sorry for the loss of the crew of the Nimrod, but the pilot was negligent, and this caused the death of both himself and his crew. And I was there that day. I watched some manoeuvres, and returned to work. After about 4 or 5 passes, I heard a dull thud as the Nimrod hit the water.

  • They smoke a lot because they are older technology, just check out any older military jets they all do it..

  • @Wildboared Hmmm , not sure about that , American engines always seem to smoke more than British designs and I think are often noisier too - compare videos on here between , say a p47J Thunderbolt and a hawker Sea fury , approximately contemporary at 1945

Or in modern jets , F15E and Tornado .

My Wifes Dad worked on both for years at Cairo during WW2 , and says the US engines of that time were cruder , dirtier , but stood damage better than the British ones .

    Jets , I dont know .

  • @zarquon53 If you look at any older military or civilian jet engines they all smoked heavily compared to more modern designs. And the RR Speys fitted to the MR2 were of course British but older design.

  • Dude, its a 40 year old aircraft.

  • thats exhaust

  • I was in the crowd on the shore when this happened. It was a pretty horrible mood there. 7 people died and their families were there to watch.

  • Well, with a name like Nimrod...

  • your are a sick basterd you know that?

  • That I am.

  • @Jahar One day you will loose freinds and I can assure you i will laugh at your loss

  • the pilot didnt have a choose if he landed it it would of caught on fire.....

  • The Nimrod Mr2 is due to exit service in March 2010 long live the Nimrod.........

  • This aircraft is not crashing into the "ocean". It is crashing into Lake Ontario, while participating in the Toronto Air Show.

  • This aircraft is not crashing into the "ocean". It's crashing into Lake Ontario off shore of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

  • @yendor41

uhh it doesn't really matter no one cares

  • wow that must be scary to watch

  • This not an MR4A they ain't in service yet!

  • probably they wer just showing it off before it went into service.

  • Boom

  • Shut up numptys,i knew some1 on that plane as well good riddance to bad rubbish, rest in peace the rest of the crew

  • i was at this when it happened

  • God Bless their souls. It takes a log of guts to fly those planes.

  • Was there any particular reason for its crash, or was it pilot error?

  • Unfortunately it was Pilot error.

  • 9.8 for landing

  • Comment removed

  • Dick....

  • My dad lost many good friends that day...twat!

  • @wayne2611 you are a d**k.

  • no reason to censor yourself.

  • I was there with my kids. I remember this like it was yesterday. We were on my friends boat on the water. It went over my head 10 seconds before it went down

  • It 's not an ocean, it's it's a Lake! it's Lake Ontario, happened at the Canadian National Airshow at the lake in Toronto in 1995

  • Sgt Richie Williams was a good friend of mine from the old air training corps days in bristol (2146 sqdn), been a long time mate, RIP, always remembered, never forgotten...

  • Let me just clear some things up here. It is a real crash. It did happen in Lake Ontario, just a few kilometres of the shores of Toronto. Unfortunately people did die in the incident. It was during the Canadian National Exhibition (C.N.E.) Air Show.

  • I dont need to see all the footage again but to confirm in one post what has already been said. This is a Nimrod MR2 It was from RAF Kinloss and had 7 souls on board, some of which were friends of mine all lost in the incident and it was at Lake Ontario Canada.

  • have a look at raf nimrod crash 1995 there are a couple of shots and a few better cooments

  • they were my friends as well i was there with them

  • Bit harsh that Robbie.. It's just a clip form the TV which can be found on here pposted by several different people. Still a shame that it states it's an MRA4..............

  • Comment removed

  • I don't dispute its authenticity, but if it is indeed real, I'm in total shock. What a tragedy, to say the least.

  • i was there at the CNE as well. My grandfather was in the tower talking to pilot when it happened. he told me that his last words were about 10 seconds before they hit. "dam, sorry boys"

  • Comment removed

  • I was on a boat with a friends family, as it crashed, about 2.5 km. I was 15 when it happened

  • I guarentee u this is real footage I was on the beach the day it happened! and there is nothing funny about lost lives!!
