I cant believe I never heard of this NES game. I have loved the Batman saga ever since I was little. Why did you hsoot the blocks to get them to change letters before you took them? Curious about that
@MikeTgf9606 That's probably because when this game came out, everyone was more focused on the new Super NES that was just released and nobody was really paying attention to NES games.
I don't know why I never heard of this, big fan of the first game. I love the way the boss talks in his walkie talkie to call in the drones. It's attention to detail like that which makes good games great. Something a lot of developers still don't get to this day.
@whaowman are they really that similar? Castlevania 1 is purposefully slow and ponderous, in batman run you up and punch shit a dozen times. Both amazing games, but I don't think they're clones just because they're platformers.
I'm sorry but how is the like Contra? It's been a long time since I've played these games but really I don't notice real similarities. The music's pretty different as is the tone. The weapons are different and operate differently. What because they both shoot guns? That doesn't make sense. When could you slide around in Contra? There was no life bar in Contra either. The enemies are different and the graphics are too. There's weapons with letters on them. That's the only similarity I noticed.
I always thought it was weird that Batman would always "power up" by calling forth the powers of lightning before a boss battle in this game. In fact, Susnsoft should have just used that life counter altogether for Batman instead of that small lifebar he has during the regular levlels.
Had this game when I was younger...It was a great game. Awesome soundtrack and graphics. But the joker at the end was damn near unbeatable! Did anyone ever finish this game??
One of the best and most beautiful games for NES! Still, can't understand why people think it's hard. Just a couple o' repeats and you'll get the patterns. I Still can get through the entire game with only a few hits taken.
This game has some of the most well-developed graphics the NES could have handled. It really is incredible how an 8-bit NES game has better graphics than a 16-bit Sega Genesis game. Just goes to show you that no one can beat Nintendo when it comes down to great fucking games.
Batman doesn't uses guns in this game. Not quite, anyway. He uses electronical devices("gadgets",if you will)in order to achieve similar(but not equal)results. He doesn't go on shooting the bad guys with regular guns, that's what I mean.
I like the looks of it. I was not aware it was for the NES though. Despite him having a gun, I must admit -- this seems like a great game. However, in truth, it does look like four different NES games compiled into one.
aah..... this brings back memories. It's a very fun game but rather easy (at least compared with most NES games). Remember playin it over and over again. My favourite weapon was always C.
please tell me I'm not the only one who misses the old Steam-punk Gotham city with all of it's random Gargoyle statues? (ever since no-man's land it's just a dirty version of Metropolis)
You should checkout teh BAtmn Reutns Nes game, to me it's the best of all the 2D batman games. (but then again I'm also a big Double Dragon fan and that game is like DD but with Bats.)
I love this game back in the day. I still remember the final stage password gpzt.I wish they put it on the wii .1990 I still can't believe it looks good after all this time..
He´s not using a gun actually, hes using some sort of batarang shooter.... i really love this game, from the very first time i played (back in what? 1990?)
@Knightimex That is because the JAPANESE did this one while the NON-JAPANESE did the SNES and the Sega Genesis versions. That is why this Batman game on the NES will always be superior.
This game was always great, but there was one thing that kept nagging at the back of my mind though. Aside from Batman and the Joker being in the game, if you REALLY think about it and pay attention, this game actually has nothing to do with Batman at all! None of the other Batman villains are to be seen anywhere, Batman uses an arm blaster, and instead of fighting thugs, Batman fights soldiers, mechs, and aliens!
i remember when this game first came out? it was very hard to find? i guess every loved it! so i waited like a month and still no? the stores didn't have it? ya pisses me off back in the day? and i'm still pissed off of the stores whom didn't order a shit load of the batman game! i thought the stores were runned by money? anyway so stupid?
I remember playing this game... First time i played it, i got killed like 15 times and then when i got the hang of it. I've managed to succeed to get through the game. But i couldn't get to the Joker. which was at the end of the game. But still i had so much fun playing this game.
Sucks that that Batman used strictly projectiles in this game... The graphics are outstanding for an NES game, but the gameplay is, well, not Batman. More like Contra.

frkonalsh2009, your description is sorta wrong. Batman used a gun in the first NES game also. I don't know if it was an actual gun or if it was supposed to be a tranquelizer dart gun, or something, but a gun is a gun, and Batman used it in the first game as well.
I love the hell out of this game, but I just noticed that the sound effects for the gunshots are straight from Contra!!!! Great game; way better the first one.
