I was in the choir that premiered this song. Mr. Rindfleisch conducted the piece. It was truly an amazing piece! I'm going to school to be a choir director and I plan on doing this piece with my choirs.
You guys rocked it! I know what you mean about it being worth the work. It was definitely not my favorite when we started working on it, but it ended up being so amazing. :)
God I love this song. I absolutely hated it at first but it's kind of impossible not to fall in love with it when you hear it all put together. It gives me goosebumps.
@Silmarion09 I think I have some residue hatred for this song, due to the evil learning process. Seriously, and I was a Soprano so my parts weren't even as bad as some. I remember in my trio we had one part that we had down pat that wasn't complete hell, and we were truly lucky because that was the audition cut. All of our auditioning nerves were halved after that announcement :P But yes, I will grudgingly admit that this sounds wicked all put together...still hated it though :P
it sounded so much different on television - just a bunch of garbled hisses and other consonants. but this - this was good.
i have to say that once you master this piece, all the stress and frustration you have with this song makes you really appreciate the musicality of it.
I counted. This song changed meter 47 times. By far the most difficult piece I have ever performed. I'm so glad it turned out to be AWESOME or I would've been ticked.
This is a really hard piece. You guys are amazing for trying such a challenge piece of music. It turned out fantastic. You must have put in a lot of time to get it all so exact. Congrats!
This one is really cool to listen to, but I hated singing it...I guess my biggest problem with it was that it was one of those songs that REALLY sticks in your head, and that's annoying as it is, but when it's someone ELSE'S voice part, not your own, it just drives me up the wall!
I agree. This song was hell. I was FREAKING out throughout the auditon process the ENTIRE time b/c of the music, and then when my group messed up in the audition...phew...i almost had a heart attack...but once I was accepted, the music actually sound AMAZING when put together. This had to be my favorite out of them all
You messed up AND got accepted? OMG so jealous. My audition center is super super super super competitive, so if you mess up at all, you're pretty much out. That's what happened to my trio (*I* didn't even mess up, but it's so hard to tell for the auditor).
I played in the band this year. This was my all time favorite from the whole choir concert. I think about 10 seconds into the song, my jaw just dropped to floor and stayed that way for the entire time. Nice job!
OMG i loved this when I heard it, the choir was on the whole time. it was GREAT. It sounds so much better without people messing up. haha. I love how the basses sound when the alto's are singing transient light.
Of all the songs, I would never have dreamed that this would be one of my favorites, especially when I picked up and first looked at this song. But after living with it for a month, 90 minutes of study, 5 days a week. It became first bearable, then lovable. Sounds amazing- I can find all the parts, even through the last 2 pages... which, for second tenors, was crazy- reading two lines.
so this song sounds amazing! i thought it was a little harder than the others to memorize because the patterns kept changing. also as a tenor 1 it was a challenge to be on the break point the whole freakin song, lol, but it sounds amazing with all the parts.
This song was amazing, along with all the others. The choir was the best part of all state in my opinion, and I was in the band! Thank you so much for putting these songs up!!
I'll try my best to get the other songs up here. I've been pretty busy lately. Expect the others up here within the next two days or so. Three at the max.
i LOVED this song!!! i dont care what everyone else thinks, i LOVE THIS SONG. yes, it was hard with all the different parts and rhythems, but you have to agree that it sounds AMAZING all together. i really enjoyed this one. i was a first soprano, and i still find myself singing my part all the time. thanks for posting this =)
at 2:15 all the guys always fucked it up.
