  • Hey nice sounding Tele! I just ordered a Warmoth koa Tele. It's all hand picked figured Koa, mahogany back with a AAA flame maple neck and matching koa headstock. I'm considering Lollars, but not sure which ones just yet. Any suggestions?

  • @guitartec I guess it depends on the kind of sound your looking for. Remember That combination will have a darker sound than an Ash or Alder body. My favorite neck pickup on a mahogany Telecaster is the Kent Armstrong STRAT pickup WPU12CL. The bridge is a Lollar special T. Both pickups give a very FAT big sound Also a lot less money than the Charlie christian pickup. Call spike and have him rout the neck pickup for a strat.

Merci, I contacted Jason Lollar for the Charlie Christian Neck Pickup on a new custom Axe being made. Great tone & playing. Respect.

  • Yeah, that does sound quite difficult haha. Thanks for the response, I really appreciate the help. Maybe when the time comes to build that guitar, I'll give that a shot.

  • Very cool sounds! I was wondering how you mounted that charlie christian. I don't see a pick guard, and it looks like there is some kind of surround, but I can't figure out what it is. If you could let me know, that would be great!

  • I routed the top of guitar as small as I could ,measuring the top of pickup. I then undercut the top wood so you could slide one edge of the pickup under top then drop other side of pickup in. Made a pickup ring from black Micarta with mahogany laminated on to it. Sounds alot harder than it actually was.
