The girl is called Blue is Japanese.

This is because in Japan the games; Red and Green where released.

In America it's; Red and Blue.

@Dinotrux dude that's in America did you not read what he said? in the japanese versions of the games and manga The male Rival is Green and the female protagonist is Leaf in the manga for Japan the male rival is still Green and the female is Blue. Watch your comment crash and burn!

@xRaalx Well, it's because of the games. Red and blue came out in America, probably because red and blue are against each other *Red is the warmest colour. Blue the coldest.* And they also must have thought that Blue was a more fitting name for a rival.
