If the excavator couldn't handle the stress of that, they would have never made it strong enough to do it. Some of y'all make it seem like it was designed to dig only through sand. Have any of you ever seen the turntable on one of these? Its huge with huge bolts holding it together. Extremely strong and durable. I've never seen one break. These machines aren't made from tin foil. The turn table would be the last thing to break on one of these machines

This is standard move for that machine. Useful for going up dirt piles will also extend arm out and down with bucket knuckled under when climbing very steep grades so it doesn't flip over backwards.

The point of the tracks is to keep it planted on the ground with the weight centered on the two halves of the tracks evenly, not balanced on either end with the weight binding on the pivot points.

@chevysb400 It's pretty normal for operators to pivot in such a position. Maybe not as extreme. I'm thinking that manufacturers know this, and build for it. But I wouldn't know.

I've seen one operator take CAT's next biggest excavator, the 345D, drive it to the top of a 30' hill, put the bucket down at the bottom of the hill, and then ride down the hill on the back of the tracks, machine level. It's crazy what you can do with these machines. Wish I could spend more time operating them.
