  • They have captain EO again

  • For some reason, this video makes me happy. I have only been to disney world once, when I was six. I am now 17. So, this just makes me happy, and motivates me to go to disney world every single year when I grow older! I want to be like "Oh yeah, I've been on that ride before it closed down." I HATE being like "maaan, I wish I went on it!" :p But what a great video! :)

  • ALIEN ENCOUNTER MADE ME HAVE NIGHTMARES!!!!!

  • i wish they would bring back millionaire :(

  • I miss alien encounter. it was one of my best memories from that trip to Disney world. Now and days i'm sad knowing that it has been replaced by a a lilo and stitch based attraction

  • @monstersquishy I remember the lines for Alien Encounter were always super long...now for the new stitch attraction there is rarely a line...I think that says it all!

  • mision to mars is still here

  • What is the song from te beginning?

  • EO is back

  • When I was little tiny, I would have loved that Doug show. Doug was one of the first Nickelodeon cartoons I ever liked. :') (Hey, the Discovery Riverboats aren't extinct. I rode one last year. Oh, wait. If they were in the Animal Kingdom, I didn't. But theres another boat ride in the Magic Kingdom thats just like it, I think.)

  • @CosplayCore

Ooh!! Tarzan Rocks! I LOVED that when I was 9! I've been so sad that Finding Nemo replaced it, though.. :'(

  • Thank GOD Captain EO is back. I saw it for the first time when I went there in September, it was great!

  • @luvnucz

Ooh yes! I enjoyed it, too! Last year was my first time seeing it. :)

  • OK AE closed down cuz it was scaring the heck out of kids. The moms\dads could've read the sign THIS ATTRACTION MAY BE SCARY 4 KIDS 12 OR YOUNGER! but noo the took their kids anyway and the kids were screaming. ALOT. So the next time u take ypou kids 2 Disneyworld please don't take them 2 attractions like this one. That's a lesson 2 all u parents out there.

  • I was lucky and managed to ride some of these back in January of 1996. I loved the original Journey into Imagination, especially the garden where all the trees and flowers were white and Figment was painting them. It was gorgeous!

  • @tetsukomono

I've never been on the original one... Had it remained the same, I probably would have been too scared to do it. I only trusted it because I saw Robin Williams' face when I was little. I saw his face and thought "THATS ANDREW FROM BICENTENNIAL MAN! I LOVE ANDREW.". lol But being the age I am now, I probably would have liked the original, too. :) I especially love Figment. I love dragons the best. :)

  • what ever happened to discovery island? Does that island exist?

  • You forgot about Take Flight and the swan boats from magic kingdom

  • Captain EO is BACK :D

  • I was so sad when they got rid of Mr Toad, that was my favorite ride. I had no idea it was an opening day attraction though, wow.

  • WAIT JUST A MINUTE... "World Of Tomorrow" is GONE?! ... Oh my God, how come I didn't notice this!!! I saw "World Of Tomorrow" when I was 9 and now that I think about it, I hadn't seen it since! :( Did Monsters Inc. replace it or something??? I love that movie, but the interactive show they built wasn't as fun as "The World Of Tomorrow"!

  • @CosplayCore

2:24 Captian EO is STILL there AND operating. I know because we saw it last year when we went last with my boyfriend. I remember because that was the first year I started to really kind of like some of Michael's music and my boyfriend kept teasing me the entire time.

  • @CosplayCore

3:04 OMG DISNEY MADE A SHORT ABOUT REPRODUCTION?! I had no idea! I dunno why, but it makes me laugh! :'D I guess cuz I consider it to be more of an "adult" thing and I'm not used to Disney being so... Well, you get it. ROFL

  • @CosplayCore

7:16 I MISS that show!!! I only got to see it once when I was nine years old and I LOVE Tarzan. I always have and probably always will. I remember the show being AMAZING when I saw it and when I realized I'd never get to go there to see it again, I cried. I really cried.

  • Thanks for sharing, great music. Brought back some good memories for me when I visited the park in the 70's and 80's.

  • I wish i could travel back in time and go to all of these again. Did anyone else has a childish smile on their face while watching this? An i'm 28!

  • i like wen the sperm r racing 2 the womb

  • body wars i thought was still running. and if it isn't , screw disney that used to be my favorite ride as a child

  • yea , thats better than test track.

  • NOOOO, i want Alien Encounter back >.<

  • Missed a few attractions including the Plaza Swan Boats and Festival of the Lion King at Magic Kingdom. But, it was cool to see some pictures of the retired attractions! :)

  • wow. who's ideas was it to build a 'making of me' ride?

  • mission space is awesome but body wars was better

  • CAPTAIN EO IS BACK :))))))))

  • WHAT HAPPENED TO RIVER COUNTRY?? I never seen like 90% of these attractions and Ive been going for years but memory cant last forever

  • I still can't believe they got rid of Mr. Toad's Wild ride for some sucky winnie the pooh crap.

  • Man, I so miss Horizons. I loved the cheesy animatronic dioramas, choosing your own adventure, etc. There's way too much emphasis on turning everything into a promotion for a Disney franchise at WDW these days, but oh well, it's business.

  • I loved Body wars, it's a shame the ride is gone. I miss it so much.

  • thanks for the video....i saw/rode all but a few of the attractions. it jogged my memory :)

  • Captain EO is awesome! I saw it last year at Epcot! They put it where "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" was, which was probably where Captain EO was originally

  • I think we can all want one of the 3 things

The first is a time machine to bring us back to those happy memories we shared riding these rides

The second is to just bring back all the classic rides and replace the current ones

    Or...

Create a 5th park in Disney World (maybe calling it Yesterland) a park with all your favorite old classic rides in one park I dont mind I would take any three :)

  • When I was a kid, I loved Epcot because of all the animatronics - now there's hardly anything left :(

  • You forgot Superstar Television at MGM/DHS--that was definitely one of my favorites as a kid...

  • what the hell happened to wdw i wish could've ridden all of those

  • alot of the rides they got rid of expecally at EPCOT were because the technology they had used to make it see new and futuristic became lame and old over time. so they updated a lot of the rides and shows with newer technology.

  • at 3:02 hmmmm i dont wanna see that!!!!!!!

  • Future attractions: Jonas Brothers the ride

  • nice vid's. more please :D

  • bring back the old epcot! epcot used to be based on walt's original ideas, and now it seems like none of the original things are even there. i love seeing attractions that are based on the old school style of what the future is going to look like. the carousel of progress' last scene is a good example of that, but the old epcot was centered around that idea!

  • what's the first song in this video called? because i found bubble shuffle the second song

  • @gt4611 It's the Innoventions area music.

  • @gt4611 Its official title is "Papillon (On The Wings Of A Butterfly)". I know this because my Language Arts teacher in junior high had a CD that featured the song, and played that CD sometimes in class, that's where I recognize the song.

  • @Fragglevision thanks!

  • You should have included "Good Innoventions"

Because Innoventions nowadays really sucks. Three-quarters of Innovations East is a gift shop (Mouse Gears) and restaurant (Electric Umbrella), while half of Innovations West is an ice cream shop, a Coca-Cola stand, and character meet-and-greets.

    I miss Alec Tronic.

  • there was supposed to be legendary kingdom or something in animal kingdom. it was abondended when they decided the project was a bust..

  • @BooBooBetsy You mean Beastly Kingdom? Yeah, they went over-budget and it was cancelled. Camp Mickey Minnie is where it was supposed to be built.

  • @Benstudio13

Yeah! that was the one :D

  • I fucking miss Doug and plenty others

  • They've brought back Journey Into Imagination.

  • @RiderAndKallen It's now VERY different from what it once was.

  • @32David2 fucking Disney channel eugenic neonazi theocratic assassins

  • @RiderAndKallen

I know, I was there the year it first opened.

  • @RiderAndKallen Not really, it's not at all like the original...

  • @RiderAndKallen they never "killed" Journey into Imagination...they just changed it.

I want my rainbow tunnel back. And the dreamkeeper.

It sucks now. My 6 year old loves Figment, but it's just not the same.

  • @englanddg What happened to the Dream Keeper?

  • @Rollman1 He was "phased out"...I dunno where he is now. But they are missing out, I think. Though my kid (on two visits) loves the current show, it's nothing compared to what it was.

  • @RiderAndKallen

I love Journey Into Imagination! :D I've never been on the "original" one, though. I was born in 1992 and didn't get to go for my first time till I was 9 years old. So, I've only been on the Robin Williams one. But I grew up liking him a lot as an actor and voice actor, so I was really happy to see a familiar face on the screen. lol

  • Horizons was supposed to be replaced by something for TRON.

  • You know, these rides were great and spectacular. But tney had to close them for a reason! You all say that Alien Encounter should be brought back. But you never know, it could of broken down so many times that Disney said, "Lets shut it down!" and replace it with a more current ride.

  • @GreekFood08 No, it closed because parents complained their kids were too scared of it. Alien Encounter was designed to be scary and for teens and adults. A sign outside the entrance warned parents not to bring anyone 12 or younger. But they ignored them and brought kids as young as 5 on it. They comlained to Disney (when the kids weren't even supposed to be on the ride) and Disney got sick of all the complaints and closed it down. AE hardly ever broke down.

  • Most rides are replaced, abandoned,or recycled now I WILL GET EVERYONE WHO IF FREAKING PISSED AT DISNEY FOR REMOVING THERE CHILDHOOD AND START A RIOT UNTILL THEY BRING BACK THE OLDIES THUMBS UP IF U WANT YOUR CHILDHOOD BACK!

  • um, was that Sperm?

  • @themeddleman Yes. It was a show called 'The Making of Me'. It was created to educate kids about sex. A sign outside gave a brief explanation to parents. In case the parents missed the sign the show tried to leave out the big details of sex. There's a video split into 2 parts here on YouTube.

  • @themeddleman yes,yes it was

  • @themeddleman HAHAHA, that's so great? I WONDER why it was taken down? "Hey honey, lets go to disney world and make it REALLY awkward for you. That'll be fun, right?"

  • Alien Enocounter was taken out because it was TOO scary for kids AND adults.

  • I wish i got to ride alien encounter they took it out when i was in 2nd grade. my friend kept telling me how awsome it was. i wnet to disney the following year and it was stich, i rode that once and never again cause it wasnt that good.

  • They should make a lost ride !!!

  • @beastfromdowneast that wouldnt be at disney it would end up at universal's islands of adventure in the adventure section

  • and journey into imagination was always one of my favorite rides as a child...

  • I used to get some serious motion sickness from Body Wars ha!

  • BTW. Can anyone tell me the name of the song they played first? I know its from Epcot....

  • @Disneyliz14 It's the Innoventions area music. It's only a piece of the 40 minute track. If you look on YouTube you'll find the full version.

  • Wow cool. Interesting! =)

  • nie use of david arkenstone music

  • i just realised, as we progress in the future the shitter the rides become, it used to be fun and new and exciting, now everythings for money ):

  • the making of me? that looked comical but good to educate the kiddies! ;0

  • Captain EO is back now.

  • Captain EO is back. They brought it back in memory of the late Micheal Jackson.

  • The name of the song used in EPCOT is called Papillon (On the Wings of the Butterfly) by David Arkenstone.

  • captain eo is comming back

  • @janicebicksss Your wrong. It was awesome! It was for thrill seekers. If your not a thrill seeker, don't judge what it was like, because the attraction wasn't meant for you.

  • @Benstudio13 I totally agree! It scared the crap outta me when I was young, but that's what made it fun there's so little thrill rides in the Magic Kingdom it's perfect for the bigger kids and adults!

  • thanks so much for temories this made me want to cry.

  • EO is back!!!!!!!!

  • love the music! isnt it used for innoventions east and west (aka Communicore)?

  • @kittykatmeow224 Yeah, it is.

  • @kittykatmeow224 yes :)

  • @kittykatmeow224 I was back there a week ago, and I can say, yes, some of it is used a ambiant music. Though the Oddysey (the restaurant) is still closed.

  • I WANT WORLD OF MOTION BACK!!!!!!!

  • I really hated to see the Doug Live show close down.I watched the cartoon all the time and the show was great. But the foloowing year when we went back it was closed. But even before that,I remember the live show was the audience was picked to play in some mock up scenes from classic tv shows like I Love Lucy.I don't remember the name of that attraction before Doug Live. It's really so sad, when theseimagineers think change is what we the public want, when usually we don't.Well maybe a little.

  • this is a great video. ive been to WDW twice, and just recently did a biography on Walt Disney. thanks for posting!!! :)

  • Small mistake at 20K Under The Sea. The poster is from Disneyland. Disneyland once had a walkthrough where you could look at the sets and props from the movie in Tomorrowland. WDW's was in Fantasyland and a themed version of DL's Submarine Voyage. You can see in the poster that it says Tomorrowland and the actual poster looked like DL's with a few changes to the Submarine, coloring, and name of the land it was in.

  • @Benstudio13 Nicely spotted!

  • u know they did bring back the captain EO attraction back to epcot, i do miss the original figment ride, the new version of it sucks big time.

  • @skullbasher115 Yes, I love that they brought ack Captain EO! And I agree the new and 2 version of Journey Into Imagination suck(ed). I wish they would bring back the original version with DreamFinder.

  • @Benstudio13 Funnily enough, Walt Disney World made the same mistake with their 40th anniversary merchandise

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that is first played in the video? I know I've heard it in Epcot before. Great video

  • @angel0fmusic84 It's played in Innoventions.

  • Alien Encounter...best attraction that was exclusive to WDW. Too bad it's Stitch now. It's too tame for teens/adults, yet still too scary for kids.

  • @AdrenalineAddict610 i dont like that they changed Alien Encounter for Stitch's Great Escape dont get me wrong Stitch is one of my fav disney characters but it gives me shoulder pains when Alien Encounter just entertained me and the first kinda scared me but i loved it when i heard they were changing it i was like NOOOOO WHYYYYYYY !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Captian EO is back at EPCOT

  • Wow, I'm amazed. I just totally got a rush of memories of my childhood watching this! Wow!

  • You forgot the swan boat rides at MK...they were my favorite :D. Great job...makes me want to cry

  • omg doug. . . i used 2 watch that show. . .

  • I was recently back at Epcot a few months back and all I could do was think back to all the old rides they had. I must have ridden Horizons a million times when I was growing up...

...I still remember always fighting it out to see what method of travel we would take to "return home".

  • Great job! Ah me, I loved those attractions.

-Cranium Command was so much fun. The Intro cartoon and the In the Head Theater. Body Wars was pretty cool.

-The Original Journey was so much better than the current one!

-But MAN was Horizons my absolute favorite in all of Walt Disney World. So nice, cool, fun, neat, spiffy, snazzy, and long. Wonderful detail, great music, astonishing sites, the Omnimax theaters, the mini flight simulators at the end. I could ride that for hours. And did!

  • I remember all those old Epcot attractions even after 20+ years. When I was a kid in the 80s, my family and I went to Orlando three times, once around 1984 (given the size of the t-shirt I still have), the second time sometime later in the 80s, and the last time in 1990 (last family vaction before my parents divorced). Too bad they removed all those classic attractions. I've been wanting to go to Orlando again, but it sucks I wouldn't get to experience those attractions again.

  • awesome video! I love it

  • WOW memories or what! First went in 1989 and remember all of these attractions!! Can't wait to get back there for my wedding hopefully!! LOVE IT!!!

  • They should open a park with all the extinct attractions, and also do a ski resort =)

  • @doctorwhocrazyful Wow thats a great idea!

  • GOnna have to fix this. EO is back

  • @Trulula2 - its only for a short time

  • this makes me sad :(

  • BRING BACK ALIEN ENCOUNTER!!!

  • @Patkillskenny I second that!!

  • @Patkillskenny ... tghey cant, it wasnt fun for the family as the disney motto. plus it was too costly for them to keep running without any guests going to see it because of the scare factor

  • @WDWtony true, but it doesnt show that disney isnt ballanced, it was for the adults, they even warned them too. Now ever since they took that out, disney is all towards the kids, not the adults.

  • @Patkillskenny ya lilo and stitch sucks

  • I heard they changed the Tiki Room and everyone HATES the new version.

  • Captain EO is back for temporary time!

it took over Honey, I Struck the Audience at Epcot.

  • Mr. Toad's acid trip!

  • I'm only in my mid-20s and watching this video makes me feel old...

...and sad of all the rides/attractions that are no longer available.

  • i miss the dream maker! The old version of Journey was the best

  • hah yeah i remember alien encounter, friends of ours always went on it, but as a small child i always thought it was too scary.

AHH AND TIME KEEPER! Robin Williams was perfect for that! the time keeper ever looks a bit like him!

  • OMG WTF FOOD ROCKS CLOSED DOWN??!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I LOOOOOOOOOOVED 'WONDERS OF LIFE'!!!! I MISS IT SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!! THEY NEED TO RE-OPEN IT AND LEAVE IT THE WAY IT WAS!!!! Now all they use it for is for Flower and Garden Festival.... I also miss 'Skyway'!!!! I went on that once and it was sooo much fun! I know they closed it because of 9/11 (or so i've heard) but they need to re-open it!! I miss "Doug: LIVE" because it was awesome and my mom was in it once! I miss "WWTBAM:PLAY IT"!!!jeez they got rid of a lot of awesome rides/shows!!!

  • @afifanatic14 skyway actually closed because of disability acts taht came into play this day in age...It wasnt able to be stopped and accomidate the people in wheele chairs

  • @WDWtony Attractions were never forced to close because of being unable to take disabled guests; if they were built prior to the AD Act they were grandfathered in.

  • 3:04 holy crap is that sperm?

  • @TuxmanV yes. im shocked and appaied disney would have that. thank god it closed lol

  • @homedogsham23 Actually, most people remembered "The Making of Me" to be somewhat child-friendly...just worked with internal anatomy, not the XXX stuff.

  • @AdrenalineAddict610 Oh sorry. I never saw it so yea. I didnt think it was XXX I just thought it would show you the...well u know what I mean

  • It's sad because they all got out dated. :(

  • woah! i never knew we had a mr toads wild ride, isnt it winnie the pooh now?

  • i LOVED food rocks!!!!!

  • wow i missed too many rides

  • i can't believe there is 1 dislike this is awesome

  • I always loved Tarazan Rocks! I was really sad to see it go.

  • What about the swan boats at Magic Kingdom? :(

  • It's so nostalgic like the 80's Disney Channel... I always wished go to Disneyland :(

  • @OtterCircus I loved that, too! Mabe Disney should consider doing a tribute run in the same fashion of Captain EO returning.

  • Dude I have a video of when I was 3 on my 2nd trip to Disney. In the video I'm standing outside the Doug ride (cause I was about to get in the line) and I was watching the parade that had Mulan in it. I loved both the ride and the show. Miss it everyday.

  • Dude I have a video from when I was 3 where I was standing outside the Doug ride watching the parade that had Mulan in it. I think it was my second trip to Disney. I loved both the show and the ride.

  • The video in the making of me seemed funny. I can't believe they showed that.

  • Micheal Jackson looks awesome in the Captain EO ride.

  • journey into immagantion has returend not the old version but a newer one i saw it in 2009 in december when i went. =D

  • I saw it too. I was in line for the Honey I Shrunk the audience and the journey into imagination broke down. So they continued it in the Honey I shrunk the audience and I sneaked in with the crowd and when it was over I stayed hidden so I could be the first to get into the Honey I Shrunk the Audience.

  • they should put back a attration whit mj now thayt he is dead

  • @thepascalhouston Captain EO has already returned at Disneyland in California and will also reopen at EPCOT in Florida on July 2nd.

  • @32David2

I keep thinking of Hot Tub Time Machine when that one guys asks what color is michale jackson to confirm what year it was LOL

  • @32David2 yeah, but I think they said it won't stay opened for good!! it will only be opened for a limited time and then soon, they'll be bringing back honey i shrunk the audience!!!!

  • @moviesperson100001 I gotta say that if they DO replace eo with something again, I hope its something new. enough with hista. lol

  • @32David2 Yes cant they come up with some thing new already Snnnnnooooozzzzz

  • wow, everything looked awesome... accept captain EO

  • I remember some of these attractions! (I'm only 16, so a lot of them are just small tid-bits that I recall...)

I kinda miss them now that I've remembered them!

Either way, thanks for this uber nostalgic video!

  • I think its funny one of your Skyway clips is from early Disneyland. lol

  • @Sketch105 Ha! I was wondering if someone was going to point that out. Nice!

  • Captain EO will reopen in WDW this July (2010) I am sooooo excited! Thank you for posting these..... I can almost smell the oranges in Horizons .... brought tears to my eyes <3

  • this music hypnotizes me!

  • if your going to Disney world don't go on the lelo and stitch ride in tomorrowland.

it burps in your mouth and just suck monkeyballs

  • No Superstar? :(

But wow do I miss Food Rocks and the Wonders of Life pavilion!

  • poor figmint

  • Doug Live!!! I remember my family and one other were the only ones in the audience for this show.

  • How I miss these...I live in central Florida and remember them well...especially Horizons. That one was the best, to me.

  • I really miss Journey into Imagination, with Dreamfinder and Figment. The new one just isn't as engaging. The Timekeeper was always fun to sit in when it was too hot out. I miss DreamFlight too; that was my favorite ride as a little kid. I think I rode Mission to Mars in 1992 with my grandmother when I was...oh jeez...about four. I miss a lot of these rides; it's a shame they had to be let go.
