Medivh was the Guardian of Tirisfal, after his mother Aegwynn. Guardian's job was, majorly, to protect Azeroth from demons.. Aegwynn 'killed' Sargeras's avatar, got her baby corrupted, and so Sargeras lived through Medivh for so many years. After Khadgar was apprenticed to him, I'm pretty sure he, King Llane, and a third participant killed him. His mother, using the rest of her power, resurrected him. He is not a druid, just a mega powerful mage. Hope that clears some things up.

Atiesh is the staff of Medivh. That is the Wizzard who appears in Warcraft 3.

He's got the build of a night elf with human characteristics.
As for his "class"(if he has one), he is both a mage and lock.
He is, in some ways, more of a mage... He weilds the mage version of Atiesh in The Black Morass.
