@JustinRSoles - not sure a mispass would have made it to the winger without being intecepted. Failing that Tuilagi would've had time to line him up and other Samoan players would have made it over to cover Hooky. VERY quick hands from Hook to immediately pass it on to the wing might have done the trick, but you try dealing with that at pace and with 18 stones of Samoan bearing down on you.

@vonteflon Look at the situation at 0:10. The try is on. Halfpenny only needs to step off his right and he would take both defenders out of the game. Throw a misspass and James has an easy run into the corner. I could make that pass, so I would expect a proffesional winger to be able to make it in his sleep.

@JustinRSoles Mate, even I could make the pass (and that's saying something), but I maintain Tuilagi would've had time to line the wing up and either nail him or shepherd him into touch. One thing I would say though, watching it again and pausing at 0:10, I'm a little bit surprised that 1/2p didn't back himself to step the flyhalf and slice through the gap between him and Tuilagi, but tbh I reckon they probably had him covered.

@vonteflon Halfpenny could have gone for the gap but with 2 men outside him he was right to give the pass. Sadly he gave the wrong pass and Hooky was left to deal with the consequences. The easiest thing to do was step left, draw Tuilagi, and create a 3 on one. Either way he chose the wrong option. Good hit though.
